The island is quiet with a lot of beaches. This hotel sits among many others with a mall, restaraunts and golfing. This area can be completely self contained but I recommend having a car as the drives on Maui are awesome. The hotel can arrange for tours otherwise.

First trip to Maui and we stayed at Ka'anapali Beach Hotel for a week. The hotel was brilliant from day 1, they give you a free buffet breakfast on the first day with a nice introduction to Hawaii and advice on different activities you could do on your stay. There was a representative at the hotel who sorted out all the excursions we wanted to do. The staff were very friendly and happy to help. The grounds were beautiful and very well kept with the beach literally on the doorstep which was surprisingly always very peaceful even when it was busy. On Sundays, the hotel does a champagne brunch which we would definitely recommend - so much lovely food to suit everyone and champagne constantly being topped up. The rooms were very 'Hawaiian' and were perfect for what we needed, we were too busy enjoying Maui to spend too long in our rooms. The Tiki grill and Tiki bar by the pool had good service and lovely drinks while the Tiki terrace had lovely food and a good view of the evening entertainment. There was a daily hula show and local music which was so relaxing and definitely a highlight of the hotel. Lovely closing ceremony the day you leave. It was a lovely hotel in a great location and we would definitely like to return some time!

This was our first trip to Maui and we were very satisfied with this resort. It was very close to shopping and restaurants and the grounds were beautiful. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a large oceanfront room with a balcony which provided great views for whale watching. The only negative for me was you can't smoke on your outside balcony and there are only two small places on the grounds where smoking is permitted. I am sure this will make all non smokers very happy.

Room Tip: Pay extra for the oceanfront rooms it's worth the price.

My husband and I were in Maui celebrating our 40 year anniversary, and our 7 night stay at KBH was awesome and we highly recommend it. It has a true Hawaiian feel to it, (unlike so many of the other large chain hotels), has beautiful grounds and pool area, is right on Kaanapali beach, good location to Lahaina, service was very good and always came with a SMILE. We had no complaint on the room, (the shower was a bit small, but who cares?). Our favorite was the Tiki bar and DALE!! He is super friendly, spectacular service, funny, helpful and he remembered us after the first night we arrived. What a great bar tender he is!!!!! The hotel is central to most everything you chose to do in Maui, with just a short drive to Lahaina, or you can walk down the beach about 5-10 minutes to Whalers Village or to the north to Black Rock beach, where snorkeling is very good. The only one negative that we found was that the breakfast in the hotel was a bit over-priced, but that didn't bother us, as there are a ton of places to go out to breakfast within a short 10 minute drive. So after the first morning we just went elsewhere. When we go back to Maui, we WILL stay at KBH. We felt it was a great value for the money it costs.

Room Tip: We stayed in north wing, which was a side view, looking out at Black Rock beach. We were pleased...

Stayed a week in July 13. Location is ideal and staff friendly but two nights on our stay there was no electricity in our room and one night it lasted a while so the room got warm. No apologies were made and I not the complaining type. The other hotels in the area were much nicer but I am sure more expensive. The hotel is fine if you don't want many amenities. The onsite tiki terrace restaurant had good food but so so service. The welcome breakfast was nice but a bit sales pitchy. They try and scare you a little bit on the road conditions to Hana but we did it and the drive is not that bad. Don't spend 150 a person for a guided tour.

We are currently staying at the Kaanapali Beach Resort. The beach here is amazing!! You can rent chairs or small huts or just chill on your towel. The water has a pretty good drop off so you can snorkel right here at the hotel.
Rooms are ok. Nothing too great, but they are clean and really that's the most important aspect about them. Although some sound proofing would be nice as there are screaming/crying kids next door and we have an adjoining door with them.
The pool is pretty small but there is a lot of space around it where you can hang out.
Valet parking is $12 a day or you can self park for $10 a day.

We stayed at the KBH for five days from June 19th-June 24th and had a wonderful stay. We had previously stayed there 20 years ago for our honeymoon. We got an oceanview room on the second floor in the Kauai building. There was convenient access to the parking building without going up or down any steps. The room was clean and quiet with a great view of the beach and ocean. We ate at the restaurant for dinner two times and found the meals to be excellent. The band that played during dinner was definitely more directed at an older crowd (our teenageers weren't very impressed), but it was good background music. There are free towels available if you stay at KBH, you just have to go to the hut on the beach where you can rent chairs, umbrellas etc. We did rent chairs and umbrellas from the beach hut & found the staff to be very helpful. We also booked a parasaling trip from the hut that picked us up right on the beach in front of the hotel - very convenient & fun! The location of the hotel is very convenient to lots of activities on Maui and the town of Lahaina. I wouold not recommend the free breakfast and presentation you can do on one of your first two mornings unless you have not booked any excursions and want information. The buffet breakfast was basic eggs, sausage, and fruit and was satisfactory - nothing special. The presentation did offer lots of information on excursions, but we had booked all of ours before we came, so it wasn't useful to us. The goodbye ceremony on your last day was a little corny, but nice. Everyone gets presented with traditional beads and an elderly local gentleman from the hotel takes pictures of everyone. It was worth the 20 minutes it took. Overall, we had a great time at the hotel and would stay there again if we go back to Maui.

Room Tip: Splurge on oceanview if you can (Kauai building) - beautiful sunset views
