Thoroughly enjoyed our four days at this hotel.
The staff were amazing and the facilities were excellent.
It has a real family feel, not the sense of a hotel chain.
You really feel like you are in Hawaii and are having a genuine experience.
The nightly entertainment was a real treat.
Old Lahaina town nearby was beautiful and full of character.
Do I have to have a criticism?
No wifi???? No wifi.
I can get free wifi in a dingy cafe in the back streets of India.
Terminal internet access?
Outrageously overpriced!
Hey, sometimes it is good to detach yourself from the world and we accepted and enjoyed that.
Parking at $10 per night I thought was good value. The rental car was very useful.

Room Tip: I imagine some rooms would lack a bit of natural light. Perhaps check your room location as regards...

We chose this hotel for its great location on western Maui and for the price, which was not super expensive compared to others in the area. The beach is one of the best I've seen. We were only on Maui 4 days so we were not at the hotel a lot, but when we were there it was very nice. The restaurant, Tiki Bar, shows, lovely grounds, and proximity to watching the divers on Black Rock, all added to our stay. Dinner menu had some good fish dishes and was not outrageously priced. We tried another restaurant in nextdoor Whalers village, and it was too pricey and not any better than the KBH. The breakfast bar was expensive but had a nice selection, we just couldn't eat enough to take advantage. We were told the wrong time so showed up too early. lol. Wait staff was nice, dancers and musicians were really good. Our room was a bit small and did not have enough towel racks, but again, we were out and about most of the time. Had to unplug the refrigerator as it was making intermittent loud noises that kept waking us up, fortunately we did not need to use the refrige! We really liked the cabana lounges for rent on the beach, and the little mini-mart and shops were convenient. Walking from the car to our room was a long haul. I think they have a few different buildings and ours may have been a newer one? We did not use the pool, the ocean was just amazing with sand that was sugar soft. The area is quiet and good for jogging, lots of good shopping in either direction, near the EcoAdventures store if you are zip-lining. Also not far from good snorkeling further north and Lahaina old town to the south. We love Maui and if we are ever back, would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask about whether the building you are in is the newer building. Be prepared to walk far from parkin...

Great location-nice beach. Cabanas only $30 a day-what a great deal! Room's are a bit older-but if they upgraded this hotel, the prices would go up, and who wants that?-so stop complaining about the rooms! They were nice sized, so plenty of room to walk around.

Room was clean, nice view of the beautiful grounds (love the flowering trees) and easy walk to Whalers village. Parking to room very easy walk. Nice to have coke machines in the hallways-thank you!!

Food from the little grill was fine and well priced-do wish they were open a bit later. Bar scene looked happy, and liked the show they had every night. Even if you didn't see it, you could near the Hawaiian music which was great.

The pool is small, but warm, but still nice to sit around, and under the trees. You don't come here for the pool.

will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Suggest an upgrade to at least a partial ocean view-so nice to look out at the beach!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel so much 3 years ago for our 25th Anniversary, that when it came time to choosing a destination for a family trip we knew exactly where to go. The KBH on Maui did not disappoint! We were celebrating our son turning 25, his finishing grad school and a move out west to start his career. We were hoping for a family trip to remember.... and it certainly was! We spent 9 wonderful days at KBH from May 8 - 17.
From the moment we checked in, we felt like we were family.... 'ohana! We were greeted with aloha and smiles from the valets, receptionist and bellboy. Enjoyed a delicious complimentary fruit and cheese platter delivered to our room on our 2nd day from the management. And throughout our stay we can truly say we were greeted and treated warmly and like family. Whatever our request, it was always handled quickly and efficiently. We especially want to recognized our housekeeper, Zaneida, who always had a friendly aloha for us and kept our room clean and well stocked. We had remembered "Zenny" from our 1st stay at KBH.... and were so glad to see her here again! She took time to visit with us and share some special moments every time with saw her. We hope when we return to KBH some day, that she will still be there to greet us with her smile and warmth!
A special part of our stay were the times.... many.... spent at the Tiki Bar with Tom, Chantel and Dale. They are bartenders extraordinaire! And all have spent many years as part of the KBH 'ohana and have many stories to tell. Take some time to sit and talk with them... you'll take away some special memories. Oh ya... they make a wicked Mai Tai! BEWARE!!
We ate at all the venues at the KBH. The Welcome Breakfast was a small breakfast buffet with cereal, eggs, sausage, homefries, fruit and pastries.... fairly basic, but a good start to our stay. After that we sampled much of the menu poolside at the Tiki Grill...mostly snack foods...sandwiches, pizza, spring rolls and the BEST ONION RINGS!! We had a delicious dinner at the Tiki Terrace while enjoying the nightly Hula Show. And the highlight of our meals at KBH was the Sunday Mother's Day Brunch.... AMAZING! All 3 of us were surprised by the selection of food and the quality. The only disappointment being that we were told on reserving that it was an all you could drink champagne brunch.... only to find on attending that you were limited to 1 glass of champagne. We felt mislead and for the very high price of the brunch, we felt we should have been able to enjoy more.
Our days included lots of R&R around the beautiful, uncrowded resort grounds, but also many activities.... swimming in the small, but refreshing pool, snorkeling at Black Rock (observing many fish, turtles and a rare Hawaiian Monk Seal), taking surf lessons(yes, we all caught waves!), golfing, driving the northwest coast to the Blow Hole, discovering Big Beach south of Kihei, exploring Lahaina and shopping Whaler's Village. There is so much to do in the area, that you should never be bored.... unless of course you want to be bored and just relax and do nothing but read a good book under a plumeria tree :o)
The boardwalk along Ka'anapali Beach stretches from the Sheraton to the Hyatt and is about a 1 mile walk. We would walk the sand along the shore throughout the day and use the boardwalk at night. We enjoyed many of the restaurants and bars at the Whaler's Village... epecially our dinners at Leilani's and the Hula Grill with our toes in the sand!
There are just so many things to enjoy about Maui and the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel... an older hotel property, that is clean and comfortable, has beautiful well kept grounds and the welcoming staff that makes you feel like 'ohana! In our opinion, if you choose KBH as your hotel on Maui, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Good views from the 4th floor of the Kaua'i wing...room 476. We could enjoy the gardens and poo...

We stayed here Nov 2013. Good location , Beach front room was old but good and nice size. It was expensive given rest of the average facilities in the hotel. No room service!. Breakfast was good. But lunch was like a fast-food type service. Dinner was ok. Lulu was by the same children's group that gave program in next door shopping complex. It is a good for children's quality but one expects more seasoned artists .EMcee was making often poor jokes. Do not waste your time (unless you have plenty to burn) on attending send-off greeting where you need to listen their promotion and get a $3 worth beads necklace. If there is a next trip to Maui we will choose different hotel. . .

My husband and I stayed here for 9 nights for part of our honeymoon. Firstly our room was upgraded from a garden view to a pool view with a view of the sea through the trees. The room was large and the lanai lovely. It was clean. The hotel is a little dated but it has a very hawaiian feel. The staff are very friendly. The location is great for whalers village which is less than a 10 min walk it's also great for black rock and it's worth walking round the other side of the Sheraton as the beach on that side is less busy and very picturesque with good snorkeling.
We would recommend this hotel its not the most luxurious but great value, clean with a fab location. Only negatives were the tiki grill and restaurant the food was poor and not worth eating at especially when there are restaurants in whalers village and countless in Lahaina. Also the expensive wi-fi which we only used once, its $10 for the day and only works near the pool.We would stay here again.

We got married at Kapalua Bay on May 23. My fiancé left pretty much all the trip planning up to me. KBH came up in one of my many searches for lodging. We wanted some place near the beach, but also with a pool. I had read a few reviews that were less than stellar...mostly because KBH is an older property. However, we were very pleased with our room, and the grounds. Yes, the hotel is older, but we didn't find it to be run down. The grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained.

The breakfast buffet was not great. The hot food was warm at best. The pastry and fruit were really good, though. The restaurant is open air, which we enjoyed, but I could see where some may not like the birds that fly through pretty freely.

We liked the ease of getting in and out of the resort area and how close Lahaina and Front Street were.

We would stay at KBH, again. If you are looking for a high end, fancy hotel, this isn't the place for you. However, if you want to hear the waves crash on the beach, smell and see the beautiful plumeria trees, enjoy a nice pool area, the KBH may just be your spot!
