“Great Location and Kind Manager”

This was our first trip to Hawaii and hopefully will not be our last. The reviews I read prior to the trip are pretty much "spot-on". The hotel is older and could use some remodeling. It is in a nice location with a short walk to Whaler's Village. There were a couple of issues with our room and they were addressed promptly. We were even refunded a night's stay. They were very apologetic and that goes a long way. They really want you to return. We had vouchers for breakfast each day. It is a buffet. Without the voucher, the meal is pricey, at around 20 dollars. There is a deli/convenience store by the front entrance. They have wraps, chips, salads, etc. It is a reasonable option for lunch items. Would I stay here again? Yes. Their willingness to make things right goes a long way in my book. Most large hotels would never reach out to customers the way Kaanapali did.

Advertised as the most Hawaiian hotel, but I disagree. First the Pros; Good location, fronts onto the main excellent Ka'anapali beach, has reasonable grounds and pool, within easy walking distance (10 minutes max) to Whalers Village which has good shops, facilities and restaurants. Big room, small balcony, good value multi-storey parking with direct access to the main hotel. Part of the Ka'anapali complex which is well developed and organised. Breakfast was a good spread, but extra and not cheap. Now the cons, and it was probably the small things that irritated me; In need of maintenance in places, some areas were definitely built on the cheap, when I am paying nearly $200/night for a room I object to being asked to pay an additional $1.60/night for the use of the safe, and $12/day for internet access. I'll pay for the safe, but I can walk next door to Whalers Village for free internet access over a coffee. Overall OK, but if I was going again I would stay in the Sheraton next door!

Room Tip: Most of the rooms face the ocean or pool/gardens, I would avoid a ground floor room unless you need...

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights on our first ever visit to the islands of Hawaii. We were in a 6th floor room with excellent views of the ocean. Our room was large and clean, the lanai lovely. The hotel is a little dated but it has a very hawaiian feel. The staff are very friendly. The grounds and the beach are beautiful and we spent most of our time relaxing at the pool, particularly as we were very jet lagged after our long flights from the UK. We attended the magic show which was good fun. Other than that we only ate one evening meal here and it was excellent.

WiFi is expensive and is only available near the Tiki Bar/Pool. It was not unusual to have to go to reception to ask them to reboot it as it was often unavailable.

The farewell ceremony is very touching and my wife and I really enjoyed being part of it.

Room Tip: A high floor with a sea view is a must

My husband and I are still at this hotel, and can't wait to leave. All day long some kind of construction is going on over our heads... LOUD grinding sounds. You would think that if construction is scheduled for an area, they would not put guests in those rooms in close proximity. Trying to rest before an evening activity was impossible. We canceled the activity. Staff and services are great, grounds beautiful, but not happy about accommodations at all. We are returning guests, but probably will not be back.

It was all the glowing reviews on TripAdvisor that sold us on Ka'anapali Beach Hotel in the first place, now it feels great to add our own. Not a day has done by since our return that we haven't dreamed about sitting out having coffee on our lanai, looking out at the ocean beyond the beautiful grounds. KBH has an intimate, family-run feel. It's obvious the TLC the staff puts in, in all areas. The staff was very responsive to every question and request. One of the first hotels in this area -- arguably on one of the world's most beautiful beaches -- KBH offers a one-of-a-kind, non-chain experience. Our room was spacious, housekeeping was always accommodating and the bed/linens were very comfortable. The vibe of entire place is relaxed and welcoming. Guests are encouraged to make themselves at home, evidenced by watching everyone relax around the grounds, feeling free to move chairs to where they felt most comfortable. And then there is the Tiki Bar! The Tiki Bar is a hub of fun. The legendary bartenders, Dale and Chantel, make every guest feel like a regular. Their drinks are everything you would want and expect in this perfectly Hawaiian setting. Ka'anapali Beach Hotel truly is Hawaii's most Hawaiian hotel and is now our Hawaiian home away from home.

My husband and I spent a few days on Maui as part of a three island tour. We loved this hotel, with its stunning views of the water and it's meticulous landscape. The staff were incredibly helpful and polite.
We had a package that included breakfast each day, and the buffet was amazing. There were all kinds of fresh fruits, eggs, breakfast meats, bakery, etc. Huge spread of food!
They have a luau every night and live Hawaiian music that my husband fell in love with!
I'd choose this hotel again in a heartbeat the next time we return to Maui.

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor which offered AMAZING views of the pool, the grounds and the ocean.

We had an Oceanview room which was clean and roomy. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were friendly and helpful. The grounds are always tidy and the swimming pool clean. It is just a short walk from a variety of eating places but we found the Tiki Terrace Restaurant and the Tiki Bar meals on-site were very good. The hula show and music each night added to the relaxing atmosphere. It is not a glamorous hotel but very homely and we would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: An oceanview room
