My father and I left Ka'anapali Beach Hotel few hours ago and we already wanna go back. It was a place where you could feel like home, where the staff really gave it all to give you the best possible stay at their hotel and a place which we definitely will return to. Even after the first day we started planning our next trip to KBH and even if we should move there, and just live at the hotel forever. The rooms might not be from the top shelf, but all the rooms was clean and plain, and anyways, who stays in their hotel room when you are in Hawaii?

One day we'll return to our paradise and then it might be forever.

Stayed here with our kids in March. The staff was so friendly, and they really made our stay great. The room is a little dated, true, but it was large, and the oceanfront view was incredible. Food at the Tiki Terrace and Tiki Grill was very good, and well priced. The location is the best -- so close to Black Rock for great snorkeling. Will stay here again next visit.

My daughter had stayed here last year, and had such an enjoyable time, we decided to try it ourselves and we are glad we did. Normally we stay in condo units at the next door Whaler towers in order to have an ocean front room. But there is an ocean front tower in this hotel and the rooms are right on the beach with beautiful views of the islands of Lanai and Molokai, just steps from the sand.

The first thing you notice is the traditional look of the hotel and grounds. Some might say 'dated' but this is a misconception. The ocean front grounds are planted with many beautiful mature trees, plumeria are everywhere, and chairs are plentiful. But unlike the timeshare hotels just down the street, there is a relaxed and easygoing atmosphere, due to the ability to spread out and not feel like cattle. I spent many days just sitting on the grass under a tree reading a book. There is an activites center right on the grounds next to the beach where you can rent snorkel gear, paddleboards, umbrellas, or about anything you might need, and it's a Trilogy Sail office also, so you can arrange snorkel and sunset sail trips. Very convenient. In winter, whale watching trips are what we like to do.

Yes, the hotel was built in the 60s, one of the first hotels on Kaanapali Beach, but the rooms are updated nicely, with great features like in room coffee and tea, large safe, big bathrooms. The only thing I missed during the stay was the use of internet. They were working on the system, and there was no wireless available, even in the lobby. To hook up, you had to use the wired jack in the room, and the cost was a little above $10 per day. If they get the internet fixed, I would have no complaints at all.

The lobby is very traditional and not at all "old" looking. They have the Tiki restaurant, where we ate a wonderful buffet breakfast every day (for free!) since it was part of our room package. The pool area has a dedicated bar and snack bar that makes an excellent teriyaki burger (highly recommended). At night, the Tiki Restaurant serves dinner, and the prices were very reasonable and the food very good. They also usually have entertainment for free right in front of the restaurant each evening.

Parking was a breeze ($10 per day for self park) but worth it due to the easy access from the garage structure to the rooms. Plenty of spaces and I never had an issue.

But what makes a stay really special is the people. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, from the housekeepers to the front desk to the restaurant to the bar and even maintenance people were friendly and welcoming. They offer tours of the grounds to learn about the native plants and several times per week they offer lei making and cultural programs. The hotel is dedicated to preserving the Hawaiian culture and it shows.

We were originally intending to stay only a week, then we extended 3 more days, then 4 more days and were still sorry when we had to leave. If you want a more laid back experience, with staff that really appreciates that you are a guest, and reasonable rates, I suggest you give this hotel a try.

Stayed for 4 nights at KBH. It was in a lovely setting right on the beach and had beautiful gardens. The pool was inviting and we felt that we could stay longer because of the shade. You could move the loungers around the grounds to stay out of the sun, which is good. The hotel was comfortable, we had a partial ocean view room that also looked over the garden. It was friendly and within easy walking distance to Whalers Village. Lahaina town is definitely not a walk away, but the shuttle bus is a good option. A nice touch was a farewell ceremony on the morning of our departure.

We stayed here for about five days on our honeymoon trip. It's not your Westin or Sheraton hotel but it's nice. The best part is definitely the grounds. We had an ocean view that looked right out on the courtyard. Very beautiful view, even if you don't get oceanview you probably get a great view of the island landscape. The staff is very friendly. Your stay includes a free welcome breakfast, and they are not lying, it is not a sales pitch. They just tell you what the island has to offer.

The cons for this place: the only casual dining on the property closes at like 8pm. So there is nothing to satisfy your late night cravings.
They charge $10 a day for parking and $1.50 to use the in room safe. These days those should just be included.

Other than the few downfalls this was a friendly and comfortable stay.
