“Home Sweet Home With Extra Special Attention”
Reviewed 7 October 2011

My husband and I stayed for 4 days, J bldg. studio partial ocean view at the Outrigger Maui Eldorado Resort, We were on our HONEYMOON! We wished we could have stayed here instead of traveling to other island. Our money spent well. studio unit we were in was HUGE! SPACIOUS! It was a surprise for us and a treat. Unit is fully equipped. washer, dryer, stove, oven, and a full refrigerator. Unit was clean. Truly! It felt like home with extra special treatment. WE BOTH LOVE, LOVE the lady at the Front Desk (MaryAnn) cute sense of humor, she made our honeymoon vacation to remember forever! First thing we walked into the lobby she greeted us like we belong here. Everyone was great, but the first expression is much memorable. She hooked us up with local food and location. Sansei, Kobes, Maui Mixed Plate is where everyone should go. Excellent food! We think we have gained a little hahaha!, but our was spent well again! MAUI IS TRULY THE BEST!

As others have said, great location. Short walking distance to the Sheraton and Black Rock. Not that far of a walk to Whaler's Village either. We jogged next to the cart path for some exercise over to the village. Parking garage is in the middle, we were in unit I-201, right next to the garage with a partial golf course view, yet it was booked as a 1 bedroom garden view. The unit is huge for what you pay, 2 beds (we only used one), and a big living room area, plus the patio.

Only cons I have is there is no work out facility. If you want to work out, you'll have to pay to use a facility. We jogged along the golf course (as many others do), did some pushups, and swam laps in the pool located on top of the garage instead.

We also stayed 2 nights at the Kapalua Villas as a splurge and liked Eldorado better. The Villas were fancy smancy, but for the money, we thought the extra space and fancy stuff wasn't necessary. The location of Eldorado makes it the winner.

A clean (firm) bed and shower area is what you're looking for in these places. This one had some mildew on the shower head, so do the Villas, but I can over look that and did mention it to the staff and my followup survey. Both beds were clean and firm here.

Black Rock is the best snorkel location, and this hotel is right there. Don't worry about the views. Garden view is fine, and your view will be of a golf course no matter what you pick, even if it's a garden view. Some units do see the ocean, but you're gong to see that in person any way. So if you're on a budget and don't care about the view, the garden view is going to work and you'll be surprised.

Room Tip: Garden view is fine, don't worry about the view if money is tight.

Thank you for staying with us! We're happy to read that you enjoyed your view and that our location was perfect for your vacation. And that you found a way to keep up with your fitness routine.

Your comment about the shower head has spurred a project for us to look at all of them and to clean or replace any that may need care. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

We appreciate your taking the time to post a review and add pictures. We look forward to seeing you again soon. A Hui Hou!

Walking distance to Blackrock, nice rooms. Definitely a great value for the money. Friendly staff. Check out the large cabana building that the hotel provides for its guests.

My husband and I stayed for 5 days at the Outrigger Maui Eldorado in a Garden View Studio Unit [Room K111] in late September. We were both surprised with the size of the studio unit - large in comparison with NZ size studio units. The room was spacious and had a rather homely feel to it, with dining table for 4 inside and outside dining/lounge area, comfortable lounge suite and a large queen/king size bed. The room also included full kitchen facilities including washing machine and dryer - though the dryer wasn't working properly in our room, but the hotel has laundry facilities.
The hotel is within walking distance to a few restaurants and 5-10mins drive to Lahaina Mall where there is a supermarket, which my husband and I made regular trips to for groceries during our stay.
Location is fantastic and a good spot to explore West Maui and what it has to offer. The accommodation also has its own store where you can purchase goods. On our last day we used the hotel's large pool .... and we pretty much had it all to ourselves. There is also a complimentary trolley bus that picks you up from in front of the hotel and drops you off at several other hotels [including Whalers Village]. We used this facility when we went to the Lu'au at the Hyatt.

We recently stayed at the Maui Outrigger El Dorado (E204) and it was MAGNIFICENT! The room was more like an apartment, with a dining area, living area, fully equipped and stocked kitchen, nice size bathroom with separate shower and toilet room, washer dryer room, and living room with another attached sitting area. The view was breath-taking of the garden, partial ocean, and mountain.

When we first got to Maui, I was ready to hit the beach, do our planned activities, such as parasail, road to Hana, hiking, beaches, etc., etc., etc. BUT - when we got to our room, I honestly just wanted to stay there! It was so tranquil and peaceful! It was definitely the BEST place to come rest our bodies after our fun filled and action packed days. The bed was comfortable and the room was kept clean. It was definitely useful to have a washer dryer.

We did use the cabana at the beach which has 3 separate but open "rooms" if you don't want to be in the sun. One is a reading room with a stocked libaray of books, the middle is a kitchen area with a fridge, (pack a picnic!) and the 3rd is a little room where you can borrow beach towels (very convenient). The beach around the cabana is PERFECT for swimming and lounging. There is also a restroom and outdoor showers. We had the front office staff take us there in a gold cart, was a short drive. We also walked to the beach - not far and a pleasant walk.

Other than that, the grounds are very clean and well kept. Service is excellent. Pools were very warm and clean and fun! (3 total) Walking distance from Fairway shops, and few minute drive from Safeway grocery store. Minimum 5-10 minute drive from Front Street, which was awesome and we went there almsot every night. Also a short walk to Whaler's Village which has really nice free shows and great shops and restaurants. JUST A PERFECT PLACE TO STAY!

And, we really like to read that you were (almost!) willing to forgo your planned activities just to hang out! Peace and quiet as well as relaxation are what it's all about here and it's great to read that you enjoyed coming home each night to the Outrigger Maui Eldorado as much as you did exploring Maui.

Thank you for staying with us. We look forward to seeing you both again soon. A Hui Hou!

We stayed 8 nights in the Outrigger Eldorado. It was a great value - lots more space than a hotel room and a great location for family. The beach cabana is great, although it is a bit of a walk for someone with limited mobility. The pools on site were great. Quieter area than right on the ocean in the resort area, and just a short walk to Whalers village for food and shopping. Great hospitality at the front desk and activities desk, especially with rides to and from the cabana. Overall great stay.

When we got to the front desk they informed us they upgraded us to an ocean view room. Went in to take a look and the floor all around the bathroom area was flooded so Walter (bear) took us on a little tour of a few others until we found one we liked. We stayed in A108. Room was very comfortable for the two of us. Great having a washer and dryer. Everyone there was super nice to us. The grounds are very nice with lots of flowers and good photo ops. The 3 pools are small and simple compared to the larger resorts but nice just the same. I was the only one in the pool every time I went swimming. There is a little market in the lobby with a good variety of stuff. The location is good and close to a lot of things just make sure you know where you are walking before it gets dark. We were trying to get back from the Sheraton the first night and couldn't see a thing, we were wandering around the golf course not sure where to walk and the sprinklers were going off. Its funny now, but we were so tired and frustrated. They will drive you to the beach cabana and back. It has a fridge and towels and beach chairs. We had a great time and felt very comfortable at the Maui Eldorado. We stayed 8 nights and it was not enough time to see and do everything we wanted. Go for 2 weeks if you can. Would go back in a heartbeat. My favorite things in Hawaii was swimming with turtles at Napili Bay, hiking the bamboo forest on the road to Hana. We ate at Mamas fish house, was amazing. Very expensive so I bought a $100 gift card a couple months before we went to take the sting out of it. I packed a bunch of snacks and cereal and I was glad I did, the prices are a bit shocking at the market. Really great pizza at Kula lodge in the upcountry. ooohhh I can't wait to go back!!!

Room Tip: They showed us 5 rooms and let us pick. They were each a little different. If you don't like t...
