We stayed at the Sheraton Black Rock for 4 nights, January 2013. The resort if wonderful and rooms clean. The Grounds, pool and pool bars are beautiful. Make sure you snorkel out front, as you will swim with many fish and green sea turtles. The turtles come very close to shore also. We were there for a convention meeting and the food and service was outstanding. We loved the location of this hotel, and the shuttle to Lahaina for some nice shopping and food. The drinks at the pool bar were expensive but cheaper during happy hour.

How can you go wrong with this place? It's gorgeous on this island. All the rooms have views of either the ocean or mountains. The food is great and service is great. Bring a full wallet though, drinks and food are expensive. One cocktail is 11-15$ and the breakfast buffet cost us 64$ for two. Go into Lahaina on front street, lots of shops, bars, restaurants. Also walk to Whalers Village. It is an outdoor mall. Eat at Hula Grill, its a neat place. Did the road to Hana tour through Hawaii tours. It was lots of fun and I got some GREAT photos.

This is the place to stay! The staff,, resort,, beach,,snorkeling,,location and service was awesome! cant say how much fun we had! We had a ground floor suite,,the hotel grounds were so pretty,, Lots of birds that will eat right out of your hand. We saw whales and turtles every day. Close to all the shops and places to eat. AWESOME,, This place has ruined all our future vacations elsewhere,,,so we will only be staying here from now on!

I wanted to splurge a little whilst travelling on my own to Maui and I picked the right place. The hotel is gorgeous with views that made all my friends back home jealous!

I was staying in block 3 with an ocean view room as was fortunate to be able to watch the sun set daily from my hotel room over the beautiful grounds. The pool snakes around the property and I did not think the water was to cold in the pool as an other review has mentioned. I ate dinner in Black Rock which was amazing and felt at home there eating a beautiful buffet breakfast.

The beach hut was very helpful in booking tours and were happy to answer any questions about tours and things to see. I brought a snorkel from the ABC store at whalers village (a lot cheaper than renting) and spent the mornings in the crystal clear water at the breach which is right at the door step of the hotel. I cant believe how many fish and turtle there were right there at the shore it was amazing.

I did the sunrise tour to the volcano and it was freezing but totally worth getting up at 2.30 am and seeing the day dawn at what feels like the top of the world!

Remember the "resort" fee, a mandatory fee $30 a day for internet and local calls which i thought was a bit more than other hotels and that does not include the tax on top of that. Also at check in they placed a hold on my card for the full amount instead of the usual small amount per day which was a bit annoying.

Room tip: I would recommend spending a bit more for an ocean view room. The sunset daily was worth the price!

The hotel is very nice. Clean, nice rooms, nice grounds, fun pool. The best part is the location though. It is at one if the best beaches at Maui - Black Rock beach. Perfect for snorkeling and swimming, for families, for rock diving. It is beautiful, with turtles swimming right at the shore. Also the hotel is situated by the promenade that leads to many restaurants and nice outdoors mall.
