My husband, baby daughter and I stayed at Hale Maui for 8 nights in April 2009. Our apartment was cozy and well-appointed, with a crib for the baby and a clean kitchen. Marika, the sweetie-pie apartment manager, chose a suite for us that had a wonderful view of the ocean and easy access so we wouldn't have to go up too many flights of stairs with the baby. We met one of the owners, and one of the caretakers, who were both just lovely. They welcomed us with a pineapple on our first day!
The location is great; just down the street from Honokowai Beach Park, the Farmers' Market, the ABC Store, and two great eateries: Okazuya Deli and Honokowai Fish Market. The library near the office was surprisingly well-stocked. I hadn't planned on reading "Twilight" but there it was. Heh.
The internet connection can be a bit spotty, which was a little frustrating, but it forced us to disconnect from email and internet and just curl up with our books. The furniture could use some updating, and they were renovating while we were there, so the construction could get a bit noisy some afternoons during naptime. There were also neighbors in the next building that turned up their TV way too loud. Otherwise, the roar of the ocean and the lush greenery on the property made the place feel peaceful.
We would stay here again if we come back to Maui.
