This was a 2 for 1 special on one of the Frogman boats out of Maalaea Harbor in Maui, HI. My advice, DON'T do it, especially if this is your first time whale watching. What a disappointment. It was so windy that you could hardly see a whale due to the white caps of the waves. We saw 4 whales on this trip. You will get very wet on this boat. The boat's primary use is for snorkeling, not whale watching, thus you WILL get wet. This is one of most windy spots in the world and not conducive to Whale Watching. We had to turn around and head back due to the wind. They had to get back for the next cruise. Yes, you get what you pay for, I accept that. Just want to warn others to go out of Lahaina with the Pacific Whale Foundation. They are the best!!!!

Excellent experience. We saw these beautiful creatures everywhere and our captain explained their behaviors and pointed out sightings. We just returned form this early February trip and saw more than we had hoped. Really exceeded our expectations.

the whales are remarkable, and can be seen from shore if you are attentive; however, getting close in a boat is worth the trip; the crews are entertaining and views of whales and of the island are beautiful

The manager at our VRBO condo told us several other guests really raved about this tour. I checked it out before our trip to Maui and booked online at a discount. I admit, I was nervous when I saw the size of the raft, but from the time we left the dock until we returned, I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. Wet, yes, very wet from the spray both on the trip out and the trip back. There is a dry storage area on the raft to stow cameras, etc. They also provided us with ponchos to keep us dry. We were once told to always take smaller boats to get the real perspective on any scenery or animals and that held true here. The size of the whales were just unbelievable when seen upclose from the raft. We only had 14 on our boat and were lucky that a professional photographer was onboard and gave us tons of tips. The naturalist and the girl that drove the boat were professional and really knew what they were doing. With the size of the raft, the driver was able to maneuver quickly so we didn't miss a single minute of the whale action. We got to see 3 males chasing a female and lots of 'activity' from the whales. If you are visiting Maui.... head for this attraction. Pier 17 Ultimate Whale Watch!
