Let me get to the point without any fluff or fillers. The positives:
1. The views off the lanai are stunning. You can see sea turtles swimming from the lanai.
2. The sound of the waves crashing onto the beach is soothing while sleeping at night.
3. You are ocean front right in Maui.

The negatives:
1. You sleep in the kitchen - literally - on a Murphy bed. I didn't spend $20,000 on a timeshare to sleep on a Murphy bed in a kitchen.
2. There is absolutely no housekeeping around the clock. They only attend to the room one time a week. If you need extra towels you have to go to the front desk yourself to get them. I am on vacation and want to be catered to. In addition, there is no one to clean the trash baskets because of the one time per week housekeeping thing. So I had to bring full trash cans to a utility room filled with bugs and empty them myself. Again, I am on vacation and want to be catered to.
3. There are ants all over the room including on the countertops and inside the tubs. I understand that this can happen, but it was constant. I actually showered with flip flops on my feet.
4. There is not a vending machine in sight. God forbid you are thirsty or feel like having a snack in the middle of the night. Unless you have packed the refrigerator with food you are screwed.
5. The front desk is empty by a certain time so you can't arrange wake up calls for the next day.

This place is literally just a Murphy bed to sleep on and an ant infested tub to bathe in. There is not one single amenity within the confines of the building. You must leave the facility for everything. Again, the positives are extremely positive, but that is due to the location, not the facility itself. I am disappointed that I spent so much money on a timeshare and got this as the only choice in Maui over a year ago. It is telling that on my floor alone, there were 2 vacancies. There are only six rooms on each floor. Do the math. There are vacancies here for a reason. Finally, this 'motel' - because that is what it really is - shouldn't falsely advertise as a resort when it isn't.

Thank you for your visit and feedback. We regret we fell short of expectations, and that our 750-square foot studio, which sleeps two and offers a limited kitchen, did not meet your requirements. We would have gladly upgraded you to our deluxe 1,050-square foot guest suite had one been available. It comes with a private bedroom with king bed, full kitchen, washer-dryer and double lanais that offer breathtaking ocean views. Our resort includes an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub in addition to the guest suite amenities previously mentioned.

As a timeshare resort, we do not follow the traditional housekeeping model of most hotels. We offer a midweek cleaning on weeklong stays and are happy to replenish any items you may need during your stay. Daily housekeeping visits are available for a fee. We are sorry for the unwanted visitors. Our comprehensive pest control program is usually quite effective in keeping bugs at bay, even in one of the wettest climates on earth. We are sorry this was not your experience and will look into doubling our efforts if necessary. It is our sincere wish that your next visit to Maui results in a more satisfying exchange experience. We wish we could have more fully met your needs.

We just returned from annual trip to this resort. We are owners and never have regret buying into this. We look forward as the employees are friendly and rooms are always ready and clean. And the view! We love the sound of the ocean and looking at the turtles and sunsets. We have stayed on almost every floor with no complaints but the higher the better for turtles. This is not a huge vacation resort with all the "amenities" which is fine with us. We hate the noisy crowds. Enjoy Happy Hour next door at the sister resort also use the BBQ below. Can't wait til next summer. Aloha

So we got confused on where to go but when we found it i was disappointed. I thought it would be a nice modern hotel but it doesnt look like that from the outside. Once we got our room i was proved wrong! There is a big fridge, stove, microwave, and ALL kitchen nessecities! Also the view was PERFECT for sunset and you have a wonderful view on the water with many turtles! Even better, its a great price!

Room Tip: All rooms face the water, but the higher up the better!

Aloha! Thank you for reviewing your stay at Kahana Beach Resort. While we regret that the exterior of our resort left you feeling nervous about your decision, we are thrilled our condo-style accommodations proved you wrong! We are happy you enjoyed perfect views of the sunset, and were even able to see some turtles. It would be our pleasure to have the opportunity to serve you again sometime soon.

Good quiet location...on the beach though not a large beach-----30 ft from building to ocean. I was in a corner ocean view room. I stayed in a time share & did not have a lot of interaction with the concierge or front desk. What little contact I had was positive...they were friendly and helpful. No dining facilities but there is a restaurant next door at their sister hotel. If you want to use a computer to print out boarding passes they are also next door. If you have a later flight they do not have a storage room for luggage which can be a problem because of the 11:00 a.m. check out time. You'll want to rent a car; however, the bus stop is just a few steps from the Hotel. Kaanapali and other shops are just a short ride away. Not a lot of amenities but for some that's just fine.

Room Tip: Corner Ocean view of course.

We stayed here for a week. This was our second week in Maui. Location-wise, this had a view that The Gardens at West Maui did not have. Size-wise this was a studio, and much smaller. However, we knew that before we arrived. We were in 403 which has a side view of the ocean and beach - not bad at all. It was a rainy week up north so we spent days elsewhere. There are 16 micro-climates in Maui.

The kitchen was tiny, the murphy bed was uncomfortable for my husband. We put it up every day for more space.

The balcony was decent sized to sit and enjoy cocktails, with a view of the beach below. Downstairs, there were 2 very clean grills for BBQing. The jacuzzi near the grill was a meeting place in the evenings.

The washer dryer was on our floor and we had to pay to use it. Soap was provided.

This bathroom was small. It came equipped with towels, beach towels, toiletries etc. We could get more as needed.

There were beach chairs etc. for use near the pool. I saw 2 people return chairs at the front desk, and get their refunds. These were better chairs than what was at the pool. The pool was more a small kids pool.

Only annoyance: Maid service early in the morning, twice, way before check out time, talking, loud, smiling, not realizing their voice level.

Office: They had the usual orientation and tour sales. Staff was friendly.

Beach: This is why people stay here -- to be ON the beach and get the VIEWS. We could walk down past the other condo/hotels, so it was a nice sized beach. There were turtles that could be easily viewed and one came out in the afternoon to rest on the sand.

We got a great price for the week, and with the ocean to play in, beach to sit and walk on and the sunrises and sunsets to enjoy - it was a very good time!

I need to point out that whilst this place and also the Gardens at West Maui, says Lahaina, this is nowhere near Front Street, Lahaina. It is on the north west side of Maui, north of Ka'anapali, a 20 minute or more drive to Front Street.

Room Tip: Anything facing the ocean full-on is best.

We stayed the last week at the Kahaha Beach Resort for the second time while on Maui, and without question, it has the best views from North Maui. From our one bedroom suite on the 10th floor we could see the entire beach as well as great views of Molokai and Lanai across the channel. We also had breathtaking views of the incredible Maui sunsets. The hotel has limited services, but the rooms are freshly redone with new carpet and granite countertops. The location has great access to the North Maui beaches and restaurants. We had a fantastic vacation here.

We are checking out today, and overall the location is the top feature of this hotel. We stayed on the 7th floor, and the ocean is literally directly below us--great hearing the sounds of it all day and night. We stayed with another couple, and the living situation was a little tight--one couple on the Murphy bed, another on the couch sleeper. One bathroom for all of us--we were aware of this limitation when we booked, but it was still a bit of claustrophobia trying to coordinate all of us. This resort has a small but nice pool and hot tub area, then direct access right on to the beach. Close by are some good restaurants (Maui Brewing Company) and fast food, among other local eateries. Overall, a good stay, useful as a launching pad for other activities on the island, and would be ideal for just 2 people in a room.
