Using the services of Costco Travel... we booked this Condo/Hotel for 10 days in Maui, HI. We were part of a group traveling for a sports tournament. While several families opted for more expensive locations further west... or chose to stay closer to the airport. We were very pleased with the balance of value and quality of Aina Nalu/Outrigger.

The bedrooms, kitchen, and living room were spacious and nicely appointed. The bathrooms/showers were nicely updated. The availability of a washer/dryer in the room was nice to keep bathing suits/hiking clothes/athletic gear properly washed and prepared for the coming day.

We were close enough to walk to Front Street for dining and shopping in the evening ... while centralized enough to sight see throughout the island and make our tournament schedule.

This location makes the entire island accessible to many different day trips. For those who have yet to make the trip to Hana... its a tough trip no matter where you are... but well worth the effort!

Anyway... the staff at Aina Nalu are friendly and helpful!. The pools are nice sized and very family friendly.

We upgraded to a two bedroom for a family of four. The air conditioning was superb and really kept all three rooms... quite chilly. We stocked up at Walmart and Costco for our adventure and ate breakfast from our kitchen in the morning... packed a lunch for the daytime with snacks... and splurged on nice family meals at night.

Parking does cost daily if you want to park near your room. Many parked on the local surface street. But, we opted for the peace of mind and paid to park our rental car outside of our room. If you try yo sneak on to the property after hours with your vehicle... eventually security will tag your car... and your room will be charged.

There are numerous bright green lizards (very small) along the walkways to greet you every morning. In the evenings, a couple of friendly cats who "police" the grounds lounge about and are not startled by the comings and goings of tourists.

We did not encounter any loud parties or rowdy adjacent neighbors. There are many families and people/couples of all ages staying on the property. Everyone was friendly and seemed to look forward to their adventures for the coming day and would share their experiences if asked.

POSSIBLE CONCERN FOR SOME: The rooms ONLY have hardwired Wi-Fi. Allegedly, the pools (two) and the front desk have wireless Wi-Fi hotspots... but we could never gain access. We were on vacation, so frankly... I was thankful to be "off the grid." Bring your laptop and plug in while in the room... or like all reaches of civilization... the Starbucks in Maui are all connected to wireless Wi-Fi if you absolutely must check in with work/family back home.

For our family of four (mom, dad, 10 and 12 year old kids) who made it a point to see and do as much as humanly possible in ten days while competing in an athletic tournament... the location and accommodations of Aina Nalu made this an overall OUTSTANDING choice for our family.

Room Tip: All the rooms are hardwired for Wi-Fi... ie... no wireless access in the rooms. (see review above) Our room was upstairs and based upon the layout of the property... I would think all rooms are pretty similar... It was quiet and safe. This is not a view property. Our room oversaw our parking area. Some rooms have pool views. For us, a room is a place to rest, clean up, and prepare for the next day's adventure.

Aloha JLSThousandOaks,

thank you for taking the time to post such an informative and fantastic review. I am sure our future guests will find this review to be very helpful. It sounds like you had a very busy stay and took great advantage of a condominium stay as well as the convenience of our location.

You will also be pleased to know that we will begin the process of installing WiFi into each of the units in mid-September 2014. I'm really glad you enjoyed your stay at the property and we look forward to welcoming you and your family back very soon. Please contact me directly if you need any assistance in booking your next stay.

Thank you Outtrigger for our perfect vacation! First time in Hawaii, we stayed at Aina Nalu and didn't regret it a bit! Nice clean room, our own full kitchen, full bathroom with in suite laundry. Shower cabin was just awesome!! Walking distance to the main Lahaina street.
This is not a traditional hotel, it's a time share kind of place. You won't get daily service and you are responsible for taking out your own garbage/recycling. Also, keep in mind that they charge a cleaning fee ($95 if I am not mistaken) at the checkout.
Parking is available in the street but may get quite busy, so in the middle of our stay we just paid for parking within the complex.
Great pools - the bigger one is with salty water - we spent every evening there! For those who like jacuzzi there is one outdoor. WiFi is available at the pools and lobby area.
Didn't have a lot of communication with the staff though. They will help if you have a problem, but they are not traditional hotel reception.
I loved the hotel and the whole vacation in general, but those who are used to great service and don't want to bother about anything, that may be too much work.
The place is beautiful though:-)

Aloha Zoola85,

thank you for posting your wonderful review. I'm so glad you enjoyed your first stay in Hawaii with us. Staying in a condominium on vacation is a travel style that is not for everyone. We are very pleased that it did work out for you though. Please contact me directly if you need any assistance in booking your next stay with us. We look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

We rented from a private owner so did not deal with the front desk. Several relatives gathered to celebrate family birthdays. All in different units. Our two bedroom unit was very nice and the air conditioning much appreciated as it was 89 and very humid outside. The huge parking lots are pretty much empty except for tree droppings because guests are told to park on the street or pay $16-$20 per day. It really doesn't make any sense not to accomodate guests with a parking place included. I know that is the way it is in most hotels but it is a pet peeve. The pool area and covered picnic area were nice for our gathering to have joint meals on a reservation basis. The mosquitos and flys were a problem with several of us getting a lot of bites. Buy some insect repellent first. The salt water pool was nice, nothing fancy, but refreshing.

The best part is the location within walking distance to downtown Lahina and all it has to offer. Lots of shops, art gallaries, restaurants, and tourist traps. Got a great mani and pedi at the Warf Shopping center cose by.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a linai, our first floor unit faced the parking lot, no lanai. No elevators.

I don't want to share that I had the most amazing stay and best kept secret of Maui because I don't want this place to get so popular that I can't get a room when I need one.

But I needed to write this review. This place was great.

I go to Maui a lot. And I love this property. Great rooms. Great location. Great price.

Please stay away from here! I want availability when I go!

We were in town to meet family and to attend a wedding. The suite was great. Two bedrooms, two baths, comfortable living space and well equipped kitchen. The layout of property is easy to navigate with grills in two locations as well as two lovely swimming pools with canopied double chaise and uncovered. It was the perfect place to relax at the beginning of vacation.
