We spent 3 days in Lahaina and ate 3 meals at this place! It is actually a bar with bar food. there are atbles but eating at the bar seems best in this environment. They have a happy hour that lasts till 7pm but we mostly missed it by watching the sunset and lingering at Front Street. Well drinks are $3,50 at happy hour and $4.00 thereafter.
You can get Jim Beam on the rocks for $4 all night and Jagermeister at the same price (if you really like that stuff). Each night we found a very pleasant bar crowd (patrons and staff). But the main reason to go is for the grub: Plates to eat at the bar are delicious Vietnamese and American. E.g. Oxtail soup, Pho soup, Garlic fried shrimp, Calamari, -- There is truly wonderful Vietnamese Ginger soup -- try that one for sure.
The restaurant claims to be open till 4am, but we did not check that out!

We go to Lahaina Cafe at least once a week. They serve an ecclectic mix of Asian cuisines but primarily vietnamese. The soups are incredible, especially the beef stew(vietnamese style) and the pho(vietnamese noodle soup) and we always order two orders of the steamed pork buns. They come out steaming hot and buttery. They only thing Ive gotten lately that I did not like is the chicken skewers. They were bland. The lemongrass chicken, the mongolian beef and the rare beef salad are stand-bys. We crave the Mong. beef at least once a week. The atmosphere is local, bar-like and a little funky: no forced asian fusion decor here! And drunkeness may be witnessed. But the food is great and not super expensive and the service is usually quick and friendly. Theyve got healthy options and use fresh veggies. The veggies in the stir frys are always cooked perfectly. These folks are open late at night and serve the whole menu after most restaurants have closed their kitchens. They also have pool tables, their beer is cold and their cocktails inexpensive. Thanks for doing it right Lahaina Cafe! Dont change a thing!
