“All Around Great Resort”
Reviewed 9 June 2011

Just finished our first week in our timeshare ocean front view room at KOR North (May 29 - June 5 2011). We were most impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the pool-beach activity staff, and the hotel staff was just as good (the pool-beach activity staff is contracted out, so they certainly appear to be demonstrating their desire to retain their contract!). The resort is clean, nice quality, and was not overcrowded. The beach is good for swimming and snorkeling, and nice walks either direction. The shuttle is very accomodating and timely for travel to Whaler's Village, Lahaina, etc. In fact next year we are going to try without a rental car all together and see if we can make it work. Overall all, the resort was great. So much so, that we invested in another timeshare unit to become part of the Starwood points plan at the minimum level, and be able to stay 2 weeks next year and have options for travel elsewhere. Starwood really does have it together with this one. We just hope it remains top quality, clean and friendly for the long haul, as we are committed Maui vacationers!

First of all, the arrival experience was AMAZING. We just showed up in our rental car, the bell hop took all our bags and Costco groceries, then parked our car. It was truely effortless for us. It was was exactly what being on vacation should be!

The room was perfectly clean - outstanding actually - and the housekeeping staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed an extra thing or two throughout the week. Everything is the kitchen was in perfect order - very well organized and all the utensils and appliances were like new. It was very comforting to know that the kitchen was clean and safe for our family.

The public areas are gorgeous, so clean and perfectly maintained – even the concrete pathways were spotless! I watch the staff clean and polish them with meticulous effort, I was impressed that they went to this level of effort. It really shows though, the resort is beautiful.

One day while sitting at the Pirate Ship Pool, a Security guard on a Segway came to the aid of a family sitting next to us whose child had scraped her foot on the pool deck. He was fulled outfitted with a first aid kit and came right to them. Again, just outstanding service.

I have to say a HUGE thank you to Mike in the KOR North pool activity center. He helped us every day with our cabana's, unbrellas, pool toys and new Maui Jim's!

Of course, happy hour in the hot tub was a favorite for us, after all day in the pool, waterslides and in the ocean. Great Mai Tai's for $5!

We LOVE this resort and cannot wait to go back. Everyone I know that has been there has had the same great things to say about it.

Room Tip: Building 6 is great!

We are SVO owners here and have stayed at the North villas numerous times but this was our first stay at the South villas. There are pros and cons to both but overall we prefer the North villas.

The South villas are the older villas and the rooms are starting to show signs of use. Our room (3214) had damaged baseboards, ceiling stains from leaks and a loose TP holder and was just a bit worn out and tired overall. We had a 2 bedroom lock-off and the design is a bit different as well with a separate entry foyer that each bedroom opens into. We prefer the more open layout of the North villas.

South Pros: More tropical pool design (better for kids, has waterslide), more central pool towel stand, better menu and glassware at pool restaurant/bar.

North Pros: Jacuzzi has ocean view, seems more luxurious overall, elegant pool design (more adult oriented), rooms are cleaner and have better floor plan layout.

For our first trip to Hawaii we ended up setting the bar very high with our stay at the Westin Resort Villas. We stayed in the North villas and glad we did. If you like things a bit more relaxed I would suggest this side. The South villas pool has a slide which tends to attract many more kids. You can easily go next door and hang out over there but sitting on your lanai on the North side is so much nicer in the evenings on the North side. Ate dinner at the italian restaurant on site one night. Food as very good and reasonably priced (especially with the 15% off deal they were running when you mentioned it at the time of the reservation). The staff was great and took pride in providing good customer service and recognizing us and calling us by name throughout the week. From the guys handling the bags up front to checkin to the concierge and the guys out by the pool. Lincoln, Jason, Cherline, Elijah and Cole all helped to make our trip very enjoyable. The room was very clean and comfortable. Easy to get to a couple of different grocery stores (Times to the north and Safeway in Lahaina). Nice walk down the boardwalk to Black Rock and Whalers Village (about 1.5 miles). A good place to run in the morning. The Westin provides a shuttle to these spots if you dont want to walk which was very nice. The concierge staff did a wonderful job, getting us set up with a luau, surfing lessons and the zipline before we even arrived. They were able to get my wife in to a local dentist on short notice for an emergency tooth problem on our last day. While check-out is at 10:00 we were able to enjoy a full day at the pool and beach on our last day because our luggage was stowed with the staff and we used the guest lounge to shower before heading to the airport. Overall the facility was great, but the staff made the difference.

We will definitely go back to the Villas!

We recently returned from a week's stay at The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas and have nothing but wonderful things to stay about this resort!!! From the smiles from each and every employee at the resort to our fantastic accommodations, we are already planning our next trip to Maui!! This was our first trip to Maui and (because of the wonderful treatment we received at The Westin) it will definitely not be our last. This hotel is definitely 5+ stars in service, cleanliness, efficiency and overall luxury. We were treated as if we were their only customers from the moment we walked into the spectacular lobby. If the opportunity arises to visit this resort, do so without hesitation!! You will NOT be disappointed.

This place is like paradise. Nice gardens, full of well-prepared grass, and lots of care of detail in all things. The room was perfect and we really thank Alex Olpindo for his generous arrangement. All guys were pleasant and very helpful. Andy at the welcome made also the difference. Thank you all guys!!!

We had such a wonderful time at the hotel. It is beautiful inside and out and the hotel staff is great! Our room was spacious and clean and everything we wanted. One person in particular MADE this trip unforgettable for us and his name was Jason Kapono at the front desk. He was so accomadating and friendly and really took the time to make sure I had a great stay. I saw him interracting with other guests too and he really is a great asset to your hotel. It's refreshing to meet people like him. We did Crab Fest on Wednesday night and although the staff was extremely busy, they kept their composure and were again very polite. The only downside was that the poor bartender was so swamped with orders that it took over 20 minutes to get drinks at the bar. She was apologetic and felt bad. Perhaps on such a busy night, you should have 2 bartenders to make it a little less stressful for her and for the guests. We will definetly be back to this hotel. Keep up the great work and positive energy!!
