We stayed at the Westin Kaanapali Spa and Villas which is a bit north of the main strip in Kaanapali. (There are two Westins in Kaanapali). We booked our two bedroom villa through Vacation Candy, and truly breezed through the entire process. Vacation Candy was great to work with, and even sent us a great beach gift at the hotel. The resort itself is heavenly. We made sure we got an ocean view in the North tower, as those rooms are newer. The accommodations were great- great pools, great beach front, right on the beach walk with easy access to the Kaanapali strip. We ran every day, took a beach yoga class that the resort offered (but had to pay for), watched the whales play right outside out fabulous balcony. We cooked breakfast and a couple of dinners in our well appointed kitchen as the fresh fish market offered excellent choices! We got our Starbucks when needed on site, and enjoyed our piña coladas poolside. We rented a car and stored our surfboards with the valets who couldn't have been any friendlier- they were fabulous and truly offered the island hospitality that some of the other resort employees did not. However, our villa was superb- we needed a crib and high chair and were not charged for either. The two bedroom arrangements were quiet and separate. The ocean view was the best. The second best sunsets we have ever witnessed! Fabulous experience!

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for an ocean view- the north tower is the newer.

We are here right now staying in the north tower. We were supposed to have a one bedroom but they "upgraded" us to a studio with ocean view. We didn't want to hassle with it as they are serious when they say ocean view, although the extra space would be great. Our tiny lanai looks directly at the ocean where the whales have been showing off for us. The North tower (building 8) is quiet and the pools seem less crowded than the south tower. The staff is friendly although they could use a few more poolside waitstaff.

In the room there are a few weird things. When you open the door there is this hallway. Total waste of space. We ended up keeping our luggage there as there is no closet space. The bathroom is huge with a shower/toilet area and sink/bath area. The bath is being well used by the 9 year old but has a window type thing to the bed area. Why? It's just weird. The shower design bad. If the shower head is pointed at the door you get a sopping mess from water streaming out the bottom of the glass door. It was not designed with leg shaving in mind either. No little bench to prop your foot on. Maybe you are supposed to shave in the tub with the window open to chat with people? :)

Overall it seems to be a great property. The beach is fantastic, the grounds well kept and lots of amenities.

We were here for too short of a visit but had a fantastic time! Rent the snorkel gear for the week and go right off of their beach. We saw lots of beautiful fish and a gigantic turtle! They said they call him Frank the Tank. The staff is friendly and helpful. All but one of the concierge members were wonderful! Don't know the name of the one, but she just seemed annoyed to be there. Glad she wasn't the first one I'd talked to or I would have been very discouraged.

Room Tip: We didn't request it, but got a room with an ocean view. It wasn't on the ocean side, but looked over the pool and onto the ocean. Gorgeous rainbow to greet us one morning.

Here now & loving it! Great snorkeling right in front of our building. Beautiful 1 br premium ocean view (not owners) in north building 7 - I posted a pic of view from living room in photo section. Great view! Just saw a whale breaching! Positive experiences with housekeeping and valet & we love the brach front & pool side sports bar - something for everyone! Will definitely come here again.

Reserved an ocean view room and received a view of the side of a building and a construction fence from the other angle. I will post pics. When contacting the front desk I was told I was "upgraded" and should be happy. I was not. After speaking to a manager I booked at another hotel and am leaving early. If you don't care about a view then this may be your spot. I would look at other options on trip advisor.
