My wife, daughter and I recently spent 15 days at the Polynesian Shore Unit #221. It turned out to be a perfect base of operations for our vacation. A recent remodel has this condo very updated and extremely comfortable. Much can be said about having a full kitchen stocked with everything you need (just add your food). There were even coin-op laundry facilities on site. The hospitality of Debby and Tony was incredible. They made sure our stay would be perfect. The rest of the staff was also great and were all very helpful.

Waking up to the sound of the ocean and the birds was amazing. The first thing you should do is make an early breakfast and enjoy it on the lanai. Also on the grounds are a well-maintained pool and BBQ grills for guest use. Just a few steps away and you are on a great little beach (favorite to many sea turtles).

In the evenings many of the guests congregate on the lawn and by the pool. It was great to meet the other guests and was a completely different experience than staying in a stuffy hotel where you never interact with the others.

Polynesian Shores condos are also right in the middle of the action. Great shopping at Whaler's Village and Kaanapali, incredible snorkeling at Napili Point, and a happening evening scene in Lahaina. Lahaina also houses some outlet stores, several great shops and many great restaurants.

We fully recommend choosing this unit at the Polynesian Shores condos (unit 221). You will be amazed! Simply the best experience!

We stayed here in July into August, just before the hurricane hit Hawaii. We stayed in the 3 bedroom condo, unit 210. We had 6 adults and a 21/2 year old. We rented a crib for the little guy, and it worked great.

As for the grounds, they are immaculate. Very beautiful place, with all units facing the water. The "lanai" at this unit was great. Its an end unit, and gets a great breeze through the unit. Which helps a lot in the evening. The pool here is great. Not very big, but it never felt crowded or loud. The beach is a shared beach with another complex. Its not private at all, with a small sand area that you could lay out on if you wanted. It IS rocky. Very rocky. Not a great place to wade in the water and hang out. But the snorkeling here was amazing!! There are a TON of turtles here that love in and among the shores and water around here. Lots of great fish. The visibilility can get pretty bad, but it was very good snorkeling. There are 3 almost new Weber BBQ's that are very well kept. Just dont wait until sunset to use them. They will surely be taken up, but everyone seems nice to accomodate. Only other bad thing was the road noise can get a bit loud. And also, there is only 1 parking spot per unit, with no option for another. We had 2 cars, and the 2nd car had to park in the neighborhood. There are guest spots, but cannot be used overnight.

As for the unit, it was perfect for us. Only issue from pretty much everyone was the beds. Pretty much everyone was unhappy with the beds. They all seemed tired and rather uncomfortable. Lots of achy backs and joints in the morning. The kitchen is a bit small when trying to cook, but we made it work. Plenty of room to lounge and hang out. All in all, a GREAT unit!

Location of the complex was very easy to find. Its about 6 minutes north of Lahaina. There is a grocery store, and some good smaller restaurants within a few minutes. Try The Fish Market, and the guy cooking pizza in the parking lot. Killer pizza!!! Its a very nice location far enough from all the big hotels, and close the some great places up north. Nothing really walking distance.

So, MY only big con, this is my personal opinion, was that there was no A/C. Not to say this is a deal breaker, but for me personally, I would have loved to have it. I run a bit warm, and to have it so hot upstairs and trying to sleep when its hot, humid, and doesnt really cool down, A/C would have been great. Also, my wife is 7 months pregnant and would have loved it too.

I also need to give Jeff, the grounds care person, a big thanks. He helped us with a couple small issues and really came through for us. Hes a super nice guy, and works super hard to keep the grounds and the place working great.

To sum it up:

Pros:
Location
Snorkeling
Roomy, super clean unit
Great pool
Amazing sunsets
BBQs
Turtles!!

Cons:
No A/C
Rocky beach
Parking! (only 1 spot per unit)

All in all we would stay here again for sure. It was a great place. If you are looking for a place that is far enough away from the big hotels, and busy city, but still close to everything, this would work perfect. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend.

We stayed in room 118, which is at the back side, closest to the street. Our condo was clean but a bit tired. Nice pool good for small kids. Easy access to a small beach but it is rocky. Can snorkle from it. I would recommend staying in a room as far away from the street and parking lot. Trash pick up every other day, it is loud in the early morning. Probably would not stay there again, because I need AC. Walls are thin if you get a loud neighbor.

we are from the Chicago area and have two girls ages 11 and 14. we stayed for two weeks and did everything. couldn't ask for a better location to access the west side of Maui. stayed in room122 and were really pleased and comfortable with accommodations. has fantastic view and never ending gentle relaxing breezes, with sunsets right between Molokai and Lania. nicely landscaped property(groomed regularly), and entranceways have a great rainforest feel. friendly people, private, quiet, a beautiful rocky lava shore, a soft sand beach, snorkeling, turtles - offshore and on, not more than 10 minutes to most west side destinations, and not more than half an hour to anything on the west side of the island. perfect as a place to sit and read and decompress or as a base to operate from - and our kids loved the pool as a short term diversion every afternoon. also- if grilling is your thing the b.b.q's were very nice to have and worked well for some dinners. would stay here again over a hotel in the area no question. make some meals, mix some drinks, get on the road early or sleep in late. you decide. the condo really added positively to our Hawaiian experience. it is ideal for the most active families as well as someone just wanting to watch the clouds drift lazily over the ocean. not one complaint about Polynesian Shores. We stayed at Polynesian Shores condo 220 for a week last month with our family. The condo was extremely clean and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful and the private beach a real surprise. We swam with the turtles right on the beach and they came so close my 3 and 6 year old nieces were able to see them right by their feet. Sunsets were special and beautiful. I can't wait to come back

Room Tip: Each condo is decorated by its owner. WW found our condo #220 very comfortable and well maintained...

I have travelled all over the world and never have I encountered a more unprofessional and completely rude manager. I cannot understand why the condo association still allows her to work here after so many bad reviews. I can understand one or two complaints as you can't please everyone but Julie has had several poor reviews.
The location of the condos is perfect and beautiful! The grounds are lovely and nicely maintained. Cleanliness of condos needs improvement (spoke with other guests who observed the same).
Unfortunately, I wouldn't stay here again if Julie was still the manager. If you run into any issues with the condo (as of course is normal) Julie will make you feel as if you are being irrational in your request for repair/service. It can really ruin your trip.

We truly loved our stay at the Polynesian Shores. We stayed in room 225 - although we really wanted a ground floor room, this was the next best thing. You could still hear the waves at night lulling you to sleep. The room was clean and everything in working order. Loved that we got a welcome bag and pineapple. The only thing I wished Polynesian Shores had was a better beach. Though the view was amazing, it was a little rough to get down to the sandy area and the water on this side is not as clear. We did however get to see turtles, dolphins and whales right from the property.
