Sangrita Grill + Cantina is a new breath of fresh air to the Lahaina/Kaanapali community. I don't understand all the haters that I see here and I am a little disappointed with our local community. The chips are made fresh every day (FYI, Mr. New Zealand, they are not fresh with store bought on the bottom-- you are full of rubbish). The ceviche is cut fresh every day, the whole Opakapaka is literally delivered each morning based on the success of the fisherman.... and the avocado fries are addictive and made daily. The Margaritas are made with 2 oz tequila (not the norm 1 1/2 oz) and are made with juices freshly squeezed, no sweet and sour, no simple syrup. And some are even made with ORGANIC tequila. It's not Tex Mex or California Mex-- it's authentic Mexican cuisine prepared by a Chef from Mexico City. For those who don't appreciate the difference, that is a matter of taste, not a reflection on the owner or the restaurant. Grow up! The Owner gives unconditionally to the local community. He has been in the restaurant business for over 25 years here on Maui. The food is refined. Period. Would you rather have a local small business owner who buys from local farmers, who is a philanthropist and supports local schools and businesses, or just another Taco Bell? He offers a Kamaaina Discount, Happy Hour food and drinks at a discount and a meal at a very reasonable price.... jeez, what more could you ask for?
