“What's with the haters?”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

Sangrita Grill + Cantina is a new breath of fresh air to the Lahaina/Kaanapali community. I don't understand all the haters that I see here and I am a little disappointed with our local community. The chips are made fresh every day (FYI, Mr. New Zealand, they are not fresh with store bought on the bottom-- you are full of rubbish). The ceviche is cut fresh every day, the whole Opakapaka is literally delivered each morning based on the success of the fisherman.... and the avocado fries are addictive and made daily. The Margaritas are made with 2 oz tequila (not the norm 1 1/2 oz) and are made with juices freshly squeezed, no sweet and sour, no simple syrup. And some are even made with ORGANIC tequila. It's not Tex Mex or California Mex-- it's authentic Mexican cuisine prepared by a Chef from Mexico City. For those who don't appreciate the difference, that is a matter of taste, not a reflection on the owner or the restaurant. Grow up! The Owner gives unconditionally to the local community. He has been in the restaurant business for over 25 years here on Maui. The food is refined. Period. Would you rather have a local small business owner who buys from local farmers, who is a philanthropist and supports local schools and businesses, or just another Taco Bell? He offers a Kamaaina Discount, Happy Hour food and drinks at a discount and a meal at a very reasonable price.... jeez, what more could you ask for?

“No Salsa on the table”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

We tried the 3 Guacamoles honestly I did not think they had much flavor we ordered Chicken & Beef Tacos they weren't bad. I have never been to a Mexican restaurants that there isn't Salsa on the table at Sangrita's it's something you order and pay for :(

“Absolutely Awful”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

This was the first and last time we will ever go to Sangrita. The service and food is terrible. Our server appeared to have zero interest in being there and it showed. Two of our drinks came in glasses that had some other tables guacamole smeared on them. No apology...
Dinner was horrible. Perhaps the worst meal I've ever had on Maui. The $16.00 braised short rib tacos and the flank steak tacos were absolutely tasteless and soggy. Three of the smallest tacos I've ever seen with no sides of beans or rice...Nothing! All four of us walked out of there still hungry.
This place will be gone in six months. Maybe a real Mexican restaurant will take it's place.

“Mexican I dont think so”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

We stopped in for Dinner greeted and seated OK .
had a beer and a water.
corn chips and guacamole it was good some home made chips on top which were great but bought chips underneath.
It was happy hour which we needed to clarify as the time at the entrance was different to the time on the menu.
We ordered Tacos one pork ribs on the salad leaf and the other with the taco
Both were terrible , we asked for some Tabasco sauce to try to get some flavour and heat.
Very small portions of tasteless food .

“Cool place”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We stumbled upon this while on a trip back from Wal-Mart and let me tell you it was good. Candy the bar tender was the best. She was personable and very friendly. The happy hour food was great. The nacho's and taco's were some of the best. Her sangria was something else. I left very full and satisfied.
