The location of this was beautiful at the Sheraton kaanapali beach. As we were staying there it was convenient. The food was quite ordinary, and the night was expensive but still worth a look for the music and dancing

Take a seat on the surrounding beach area with camera handy. Watch the Maui sunset while the local divers entertain you with their diving skills.

First of all the have u sit in the sun for about 45 min to get into the area for the luau... Then the "preferred" seating is a joke.... Nothing was "preferred" about it.... Then sat in the hot sun for over an hour with no water at the tables ( Even a pitcher with cups would have been amazing) the performers I must say looked amazing and did an absolute perfect job.... The host talked way too much, it was like we kept waiting for the show to start then it was more sitting and dying of heat stroke.... Food was horrible and cold .... Very upset.... I would have rather gone to dinner or even had a spa treatment for the price we paid.... Too much fluff and waiting around in a hot atmosphere... All the kids I saw were bored out of their minds! Felt sorry for the people who were trying to have a romantic luau evening... If u do go bring water, sunblock, hats and snacks for the kids... Worst part of our trip

We were here April 19th and, although it looked like it would rain, we really lucked out and had amazing weather. I had bought preferred seating well in advance through BarefootTom and the agent was very helpful and recommended the preferred seating for the children to see better. We were in the back of the line so I was worried about where we would end up, but we were escorted to a table in the front and the two kids could turn their chairs and look directly at the stage. I was hoping for a fresh flower lei since this was my first luau, but we all got the same carved turtle pendant on a black cord. The boys liked them well enough and still wear them. The imu pit unearthing was interesting with the men digging up the pig. The buffet was set up so people walked on both sides of the tables. There was plenty of food and it was very tasty. I'm not a huge pulled pork fan, but the fish was amazing and the sides were good. The desserts were different (coconut jello), but the chocolate macadamia item was fantastic. The drinks were delicious. Our family and the two couples at our table thoroughly enjoyed the show. The announcer did a nice job of explaining the different dances and did try to make a few jokes, but they weren't enough to ruin the show by any means. He was very sincere IMHO and I think he made the show more credible. The sunset is not directly behind you so you are not squinting into the sun, but the beach is directly to your side and when the sun did set many of us got up and took our photos, which turned out beautifully. We were told it had been raining for a week and this was the first sunset in days worth photographing, so we really feel blessed to have had the experience we did. One of our boys got on stage to learn the Hula with many of the other children. We danced to the wedding song with all the others celebrating marriage/anniversaries. This luau was a major highlight of our Hawaii vacation. I'm not sure why the name was changed to something that is not very easy to remember (Maui Nui Luau) and which cannot be found easily on TA at this time. Great luau!

We decided to try this Luau since we were staying at the Sheraton. It is on the lawn of the hotel. The food was mediocre - served buffet style- everyone's hands were in the food- and the show was cheesy. The emcee was awful. Save yourself some money. Skip this event. Try Feast of Lele in Lahaina instead.
