It was a great 1br condo w/ a pull out couch, balcony, oceanview for the $175 price! All the comforts of home: full kitchen, towels, dishes, washer/dryer.
Only thing poor was the hotel restaurant...not good food. But eat in on your balcony with a great view!

Room Tip: we requested an oceanview. it was the off peak season and were able to get it due to low hotel volume. But honestly the garden (overlooking the parking lot) didnt look to have a bad view either of the mountains.

We stayed here August/September 2011 and were upgraded from a Garden View to a Partial Ocean View....which turned out to be an Ocean View. Great room...quiet, comfortable, clean.....could use some updated furniture in the living room. We spent the majority of our time on the lanai or at the beach. They have great entertainment that gives you a look into the culture and customs of the state once a week. The on site restaurant has excellent food and drinks! This was our 5th time staying at this facility and have always been happy with the service. We will no doubt return here and have recommended the facility to several of our friends who have also enjoyed their stay.

Room Tip: Ask for an updated room.

The Aston Shores I found through "Tripadvisor" reviews from contributors. I was not disappointed. The room was a condo. We had a one bedroom, kitchen, large bath and the living room with a queen sleeper. An a big surprise - a washer and dryer. I went home with clean clothes. We had a fruit basket waiting for us. The view was spectacular. To the front was the Pacific and behind were beautiful lush green mountains. Rendered me speechless. There was plenty of room for the four of us. The front desk was great and very helpful. The room was clean and well kept. So affordable - We did have to pay for parking but that seems standard as well as a resort fee. (Which has a different name) We ate breakfast in the restaurant, very good and enjoyed the outdoor bar for snacks and drinks. A great place to stay.

The rooms @ K-Shores were extremely efficient in their lay-out. Ocean view a must as whales can be seen very regular from Feb to May. Clean property. Yes, you do have to pay for use of the gym as well as parking. Weird but if you can get by that, the rest is very appealing. Great pool and hot tubs with a restaurant on site. Food there is very good and not super expensive. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. The beach may seem a bit rocky but there is a very nice sandy aproach just to the south. The positive of a rocky beach is marine life as soon as you step in the water. A bit further to the south is "Airport Beach". This is one of the finest snorkeling beach on the Island. Turtles, reef sharks just a few feet from shore. This is less than a 10 min walk. A bit further to the south you have "Black Rock". Very crowded and little brats trying to ride the sea turtles. BE very glad you are not staying there unless you crave large crowds. However it is a very cool place to experience at least once. The hotel itself balances a line of bringing the Aloha Spirit, but not over-board to appear cheesey. Very well done. Loud birds? Maybe if on balcony but also brings a sense of nature to the room. Love the grassy areas that kids and families can play. Gives a homey atmosphere.

Room Tip: Go Ocean view if possible, can see whales from room.

This was our first trip to Hawaii, and our travel agent suggested this resort for my 25 year old son and I. We really enjoyed our stay in the one bedroom unit. My son had the sofa bed which he found very comfortable. My king size bed was also very cozy. The space was clean and well kept. Since there were only 2 of us, we had plenty of towels. The grounds were amazingly well groomed. The whole place was spotless. Although the beach space is very limited, a wider beach is just a short walk along the shore around the corner. The pools and hot tubs were great. Always lots of beach chairs available as well as clean beach towels. The little coffee kiosk on the main floor had great lattes and very nice service. The concierge area was very busy, but when we did use it, we received excellent service. The resort "sundries" shop had pretty much everything we needed if we had to do some "emergency" shopping and didn't want to go across the street to the supermarket. For the most part the prices were quite reasonable. (I found a 1/2 pound of 100% Kona Coffee for $8.00 LESS in this shop than at the supermarket!) We only ate twice in the beach restaurant - both breakfast meals. Great service and good food. The poolside bar had nice drinks. (One of the bartenders was a bit "cranky" and abrupt as well as quick with her "opinions". She was a bit intimidating.) My only issue was the resort and parking fees. In my opinion, we didn't really get anything "extra" that other hotels normally offer for no extra fee. It seems that most resorts in Hawaii charge this fee? But overall, this was a very comfortable place to stay. We met a lot of people from all over the world. A great family place that is nice and quiet late at night. Would not recommend this for young, single "party-ers". Word of warning... VERY noisy birds in the courtyard trees EARLY in the morning! All in all, I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: As mentioned above, the birds in the trees in the garden area are very noisy just around dawn. Not sure if there are rooms to avoid that. It only lasts for a short time, but just a "heads up".
