We had a very pleasant stay here in Aston Maui Kannapali Villas. This resort us very beautiful and located on Lahaina Beach. We had initially booked a standard room, but got an upgrade to an ocean view Condo for 30 dollar per night, which was awesome.
They have a nice pool, just before the beach.
our Condo was superb, clean, great views and very tidy.
Worth extra money. We would definitely come here again.

Room Tip: Go for an ocean view room. try to get a room in the main tower or dolphin building. they are closer...

Great property, lots of renovations and upgrades throughout. Very comfortable. Great on-site restaurant (Castaway). Free trolley to Whaler's Village and other hotels. Good proximity to grocery store (Times supermarket) and other amenities. Right next to good snorkeling (Airport beach) and within short walk of Black Rock.

The apartments are owned privately so there may be variations in quality . We were given 110 which was beautifully furnished and on the ground floor . The kids could run around on the lawn there is a washing machine and dryer and a full kitchen. The property is absolutely beach front and there is only 3-4 floors so the resort feels quaint and was never crowded . I took a walk along the beach and passed the much more expensive hotels next door which fronted onto exactly the same beach . But those other resorts were more high rise and had so many more people in them . I was glad I booked the Aston .

On our first trip to Hawaii, we were advised by the travel agent to stay at the AMK Villas. I didn't want to stay in the usual hotel room and was pleasantly surprised with the small condos at this resort. The room was clean and the little lady who performed the daily maid service (which I actually wasn't expecting) did a great job. These are individually owned condos so each looks a bit different as far as decor and "luxury". We were pleased that there was a full kitchen, which allowed us to save some money by cooking a few meals at home.

We had a garden view, because the oceanfront rooms were significantly more expensive, but it was still a nice view and very quiet. We stayed at the far end of the resort, and I imagine that a room closer to the large pool/bar/restaurant would be a little noisy in the evenings.

There is a laundromat on site, which was super convenient. I hate dragging dirty laundry home! There is also a small gift shop in the main lobby with toiletries and snack foods in case you need something quick.

Some reviews ragged on the Castaway Cafe on the resort, but I thought it was awesome. The bartender was great and while the bar is small, their mixed drinks are pretty tasty and reasonably priced. We had breakfast and dinner there and were thrilled with both. The portion sizes are HUGE and it was nice to finally get our money's worth.

There is plenty of parking for the rental car, which is nice. I suppose the "free" parking is included in the $15/night facilities fee charged at the end of the trip.

The front lobby staff were very helpful and aside from an incident where another family was mistakenly assigned to our room and given the key to barge in on us (yikes!) things went smoothly. I probably should have irately complained since my privacy was compromised, but they were all so nice I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Oh yes, the best part is the proximity to the beach. It's literally a five minute walk. Very convenient. It's a little far removed from "downtown" Lahaina, so you'll definitely want a rental car, but it's an easy drive down Rt. 30.

Two thumbs up. If I ever have the opportunity to return to Maui I would stay here again.

Went with my mom, sister and 3 year old son. We stayed in a one bedroom villa, the room was huge! plenty of space for my son to run around. the bathroom was also huge!! Loved the kitchen, was able to cook for my son every day. Very close to the beach. Also very close to the market and Kanapoli stores. we were all very comfortable there.. The beach was very nice and quiet, not crowded at all. Water was beautiful!! Would definitely come back!!

Only issue were the ants and frig. We were on the top floor and still had major ants in our room. We called the hotel, and they sent someone to spray, but i wouldnt let them, since i had my son in the room. Too toxic, so we just had to kill/clean the ants ourselves. Big pain in the rear. The resort did offer to move us, but the room they were going to move us too was smaller and very outdated, and also hard to move everythng since we were already settled.

We also had issue with the frig. it was not cold enough. They did send someone to check it, but said it was normal. Definitley not normal to take numerous hours to cool something down.

The rental chairs/umbrellas were expensive at the resort.. i hired a travel place for much cheaper, and they delivered everything and picked it up when we left. it was very nice. Will use them again everytime i go back to Maui. :)

We booked a garden view suite at this condo complex #167. The complex was built in the late sixties so our room had been renovated. The kitchen appliances all worked well, was well stocked with supplies and clean with granite counter tops. The bathroom, although renovated, needed some basic maintenance to the tub spout as it looked a bit the worse for wear. That said, the shower was good - temperature and pressure wise. The suite was clean and spacious and the furnishings, though not new, were in good condition. The pillows were my main concern. They were lumpy and not much support. I prefer firm substantial pillows. The best thing about the suite was its location and the chairs and table on the lanai - great for lounging around. It was just next to the smaller pool on the grounds, very close to the beach and away from the Castaway Cafe and larger pool. This area was always busy with people, kids in the pool. In the morning you could hear the birds chirping and the wind blowing to wake you up. The little pool was a warm oasis with lots of lounge chairs and a great outdoor hot tub. It was very clean and we had several occasions where we were the only people in it. Try it especially at night. So beautiful surrounded by palm trees and starlight and the temperature was so warm you could wade in without any hesitation. 5 minutes walk and you are at the beach. They rent you chairs for 10$ and snorkeling gear, paddle boards. The Cabanas were 30$ a day and booked several days in advance so we couldn't get one when we were there. They also have free loungers on the shady lawn of the complex overlooking the beach. A nice option. the beach was spectacular, you can walk a long way both directions - clean, stunningly beautiful. We went to the on site restaurant for dessert , drinks, and breakfast. Breakfast was average, reasonably priced. The drinks and dessert we found less appealing. I suggest you get desserts and drinks at the old lahaina hotel right next to the condo complex( 5 minute walk). Yummy! Try the Maui Dream at the lounge there and the cocunut cheesecake! They also have a dancer and relaxing hawaiian music every night there. We had dinner once there - very good. We didn't have a car and found it to be no problem. We walked to the nearby mall - Whaler's village for lattes at a little coffee spot, yogurt and subways eggwich. Great shopping there as well although not inexpensive and nice restaurants. The Hula Grill is there and was very yummy food, reasonably priced and fun atmosphere. If you want a more upscale dining experience - try Duke's beach house. We walked there in 15 minutes up the beach walk. Wonderful service and exceptional food and drinks. If we were tired or it was night (we found it a bit challenging to navigate back to the complex at night due to the pathway not being direct) we took the free resort trolley. It comes about every 30 minutes or so and takes you to other hotels in the vicinity and the mall. We also took the maui bus for 2$ to Lahaina and back. Lahaina had lots of great shopping and is a quaint town by the ocean. There is a safeway at one of the stops if you need food or there is another grocery store - the times grocery - my husband walked to it as the bus doesn't go there (about 30 minutes but he's a fast walker). There is a general store in the condo lobby - I ended up buying oatmeal packages and my husband got soup. They have prepared sandwiches as well. The old lahaina hotel next door also had food - a better selection in my opinion and pre made sandwiches etc. plus some nice gift items. The location of this place was ideal as we found it quieter than the large hotels in either direction such as the Sheraton. These places were crawling with people. It's not hip or cool or happening at night so if you are youthful and looking for nightlife etc. maybe not your option. Finally, if you are looking for a luau to walk to or take the trolley to - The Sheraton luau at Black Rock was excellent!

Room Tip: For a quiet atmosphere ask for the Coconut building

Though somewhat dated, the MKV had its charm. Low rise buildings dotted the nicely landscaped grounds. The pool was 50 m. from the beach so kids could run back and forth. The unit we had was clean and big though kitchen was in need of renovation. However, the price was excellent so this is only a very minor complaint. Staff was professional and helpful.
