“Great Location and Beach!”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

This property is well kept. It certainly older than the hotels on the beach boardwalk but has great Hawaiian character. There are 2 pools on the property. The only downside is that some of the owners of some of the units have not done any updating to their unit. I would hope and encourage them to do that however an updated unit gives you a really comfortable environment at a reasonable price. Would surely stay here again without hesitation. Staff is friendly.

I have stayed at the villas on 3 separate visits from 2004 to 2009. Even though Kaanapali is one if the busiest tourist areas, I found it to be very peaceful at this resort. The rooms are very clean and the grounds are kept immaculate. The location couldn't be any more perfect! We enjoyed watching the whales play while enjoying breakfast at the restaurant on the property every morning. I would describe this place as old Hawaii as the decor was somewhat dated, but I didn't care. I prefer a quiet vacation. The staff was so helpful and friendly, I can't imagine staying anywhere else. I hope to come back here very soon!

The condo itself was great. It was small enough that the staff recognized us, not like the huge condos everywhere else. There was only one row of beach chairs (not acres of them like elsewhere), and I never saw them all filled at once. The grounds are so well maintained, they even give you a guide for the different plants you can find there. The beach was a powder soft sand (no rocks or coral here) with small waves (too small to boogy board though, and it gets deep quickly). But for snorkeling, just go about 200 yards north (in front of the next condo). They call this Airport Beach, and it had great reefs with an abundance of tropical fish, turtles, I even saw a moray eel. There is a free trolly to the other condos and Whaler's Village too. So if you’re considering this condo, stop thinking and book it.

This is not a bad place to stay. It is quiet, the grounds are nicely kempt. Our room was nice and updated. Housekeeping daily. Friendly staff - Pool is fun and has great ambiance. Does have a nice walking path to a swimmable beach (one of the nicest we have stayed at) I could go on with positive things.

However, I was not impressed with the location of "ocean view" I understand this is not ocean front - we know the difference - we were far back from the beach and could see a wee bit of a strip of blue from our lanai.

We booked through Costco and feel that the description is slightly deceptive but is is the same on Costco as their personal website. There is another actual building in front of Aston Villas that does have a better location to the beach. Aston does not own that part of the property. This is not our first rodeo in booking beach properties we have been on 4 exstensive beach vacations three of which were on Hawaiian islands. This location was the most disappointing - it was also one of the most costly.

We left some beach chairs and a boogie board for further people that stay in our studio. We have had them in the past hotel stays so hope that the owner lets them remain in the closet. It is nice to have a chair and board on the beach without having to purchase one for your stay.

A 3 is a solid review for the good things about this Villa however the location has something to be desired for us. For someone else it might be perfect. There is also a $15.00 daily fee - after we paid through Costco in full. So we were charged another $125 at the end of our stay. Not negative just a fact.

We stayed here for 8 nights in May on our Honeymoon and had a great time. The staff was very friendly, the grounds and pools well kept and the beach is right at your doorstep and Harry at the bar is fun. Highly recommend this resort to any one looking for a relaxing getaway. When we checked in the general manager came over and handed us Mai Tai's since it was their Wed afternoon happy hour. Would definitely stay here again!.

Facilities here are exactly what you need to enjoy a vacation. Friendly staff, easy access to activity advisors and free trolley buses to get you around the kaanapali vicinity. Rooms are really cute, we have a room with a fantastic view and there is easy access to pools and beach areas. Will be coming here if we ever visit Maui again!

This is my fifth time staying here....second time in this particular condo. MKV is a great place to relax if you want quiet....no real partying in the evening. We spent many nights eating at some great restaurants in Lahaina or here at Castaways! I love seeing the same great staff at Castways year after year!! Some negatives....the pools esp the smaller pool near the coconut building....yuck!! Lots of bugs and stuff floating the water. Also if you are a huge air conditioner person, do not rent a suite with the vaulting ceilings. The a/c struggles to keep up once the mid-day heat hits!

All in all another great stay!
