It is great to hear Marriott's Maui Ocean Club is your little slice of paradise! Thank you for your five-star review and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Our family stayed here for 8 nights this past April, 2014 for our 20th wedding anniversary.
We are Marriott vacation club owners and, a year in advance, arranged for an Oceanfront condo in the Napili or Lahaina Towers. Before our arrival, and based on other trip advisor reviews, I requested the Napili Tower due to the construction going on next door at the Hyatt. I became nervous when we checked in and were assigned the Lahaina Tower. My mind was quickly put at ease when we walked into the condo and saw the amazing oceanfront view. And only once did we hear any construction going on next door and that was one morning when we were driving out of the parking garage.
Another great thing about the Lahaina Tower - the large parking garage. We never had a problem finding a parking spot and the garage is a short walk to the tower.
After we checked in, we went out to the local Costco and stocked up on food and water for the week. This helped out a lot with quick meals, etc on long tour days.
Front desk staff was friendly and helpful.
Housekeeping and maintenance staff were great. We realized that our oven wasn't working properly the first night. They fixed it the next morning without any problem.
We rented cabanas for two days while we were there. Totally worth it. Staff was awesome. Water, pineapple and cold towels - you can't beat that. And while sitting in the cabana, we watched our son snorkel at the ocean's edge. Paradise! Pool Café food was good. We did not have a chance to eat at Longboards.
Ocean front was worth the extra points/money. We saw a humpback whale off of our balcony!! Bucket list item checked off!
We arranged all of our tours before we left Maryland so we did not use the Guest Services.
Beds were comfortable, condo was clean, furnishings were in good shape - everything we expected from Marriott.
We will be back!
We wish you didn't have to leave either! Thank you for your great TripAdvisor review of Marriott's Maui Ocean Club. We appreciate your kind words and hope you will return soon!
Just returned from spending 9 days at the resort. We took our elderly mothers for a trip to paradise. We all have been to Maui before but never stayed in this part of the Island before and after this trip, we will never stay anywhere else. The resort is very well maintained with lots of gardens, koi fish ponds and wonderful areas to enjoy the Maui weather. We stayed on the 9th floor of the Molokai building in a 2 bdrm/3 bathroom unit and had a spectacular view of the mountains/golf course and the pool and ocean. We would sit on our decks and watch the people in the pool and the whales in the ocean. The rooms are well appointed and the fridge is a good size to hold various liquids and food products and even though we didn't have a full kitchen there are Bbq's throughout the property and a community kitchen to prepare cooked meals.
The Whaler's Village is a 5min walk and Lahaina is a 5 min drive which gives you lots of shopping and dining options. The resort's pool bar restaurant was a great option if you wanted to lounge by the pool and have a casual meal. The food was tasty and the service was excellent. Although the property is a timeshare and we are already Marriott owners, the staff do not push the sales on you to attend a session. If you are not an owner with Marriott, we would highly recommend it to everyone as it is well worth it.
The staff at the resort were very friendly and extremely helpful with all of your questions and requests. If you want to learn how to surf or paddle board, you can take lessons on the beach right in front of the hotel which we did twice and both times we had great teachers-Taylor (paddle board) and Pau(surfing).
We look forward to our visit next year.
Aloha! Thank you for your five-star review of Marriott's Maui Ocean Club! We are pleased to hear your entire family had a great vacation with us in Hawaii. Our team looks forward to your next stay with us in paradise!
To be fair we just arrived here after staying a week at Marriott's Ko'Olina Beach Club on Oahu which is by far the best timeshare property Marriott has. That being said though the differences between the two properties is becoming even more striking because the Maui Ocean Club property is not doing things that they can control (basic maintenance). Maui is certainly a better island than Oahu in my opinion and Kaanapali Beach is great but has been here awhile with some aging properties. This property was converted to timeshares from the original Maui Marriott which was a nice beachfront hotel. When they converted it they did not convert the rooms to MVCI's traditional setup with a full kitchen which was honestly a big mistake. The rooms don't have a clothing washer and dryer which again is a MVCI standard as well. Several years back they added two new towers which have that standard MVCI setup (Lahaina and Napili towers) which if you can get in there is the way to go. The original hotel bldgs. (Maui, Molokai, and Lanai towers) are old and not getting maintained too well. Many of the door jambs are rusting, the doors are heavy and hard to open. The ceiling in the hallways have cuts from what I would guess are pipe repairs but the holes are not repaired with the stucco color and material from the original work. Maintenance is not at Marriott levels. Stucco walls are filthy in certain areas. Light fixtures have hundreds of dead flies in them (I know, basic stuff). There are planters near the beachfront area of the Molokai tower which have lots of spider webs all over the plants and trees that makes it feel like Halloween. How hard it is to get a broom out there and knock them down once a week? I have been a MVCI owner for nearly 10 years and this isn't the standard I'm used to. Prior to our arrival I received an email from Maggie K. in guest relations which asked my preferences for our stay. I requested a Molokai tower room. They also asked if we were celebrating anything during our trip. I informed them we are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. When we arrived yesterday a very nonchalant front desk clerk informed me we would be in the Lanai tower above the garbage dumpsters. When I told him we had requested otherwise he acted like he couldn't care less. Even if that was the case, that's not the Marriott way. I wouldn't say the guy was a jerk, just not very good at customer service. I let him know that 2 or 3 years ago when we were here we got a room in a similar spot and were awoken each day by garbage trucks, employees entering the timeshare and being loud, employees cleaning grill grates at 6:45 AM, employees smoking right below our balcony, etc. He didn't really care. We got our keys and entered our room to find they had done absolutely nothing for our anniversary (Ko'Olina was much different in this regard) and a mediocre room with a nice view of the garbage just like before. This morning I awoke to the beep of a large semi-truck backing in to deliver supplies to the hotel loading dock below us. I called Maggie K. who I had exchanged emails with prior to my arrival and she has yet to return my call (now approaching 5 hours since I left her a VM). I then called the office of David Wong, the GM of the property, who said he was not there yet for the day. I asked who the manager on duty was and I was told that he wasn't there yet either. I then asked who could help me and I was transferred to Liza W. who I believe manages the front desk area. She listened to my concerns and told me she would look to see what she could do. She called me back an hour or so later and told me she had no rooms in the entire Molokai tower available. When I inquired if she could try another tower she found the room below me which is even closer to the garbage or a couple others which are all in the same general area. I went to the front desk to talk with her in person and she was very professional but was not able to accommodate me. I asked to talked to David Wong and I have yet to hear back. Hopefully Mr. Wong can at the least explain why the property isn't being maintained at Marriott levels. Again, being that I experienced the same thing in our last trip I'm really disappointed they don't seem to care. There seems to be a culture difference between the employees here and the ones in Ko'Olina. I asked several employees if they knew who David Wong was and they said they had never met him. That to me is telling as I myself own a successful business and my employees certainly know who I am. The GM clearly needs to walk his property daily and then maybe he would notice the things I've mentioned in this post. It's sad to see this property going in the wrong direction. Hopefully Marriott can right the ship, until then I don't think I'll be back. The Westin timeshare properties on Kaanapali Beach are far superior right now and Hyatt has a new one next door going up as I type this. If you want to go to Maui try those first, if you want Marriott go to Ko'Olina on Oahu, you'll have a far better experience.

Right next to Whaler's Village and a great beach.
It's not a traditional hotel but the amenities and service provided were really good. There's an adult pool so you can get away from the kids (if you need to). A good tiki bar with pricey drinks and the rooms are really nice. We were lucky to get a corner room (in the Molakai suites) with awesome views of Lanai and Molokai. The lahaina villas and lanai suites are next to the new hyatt residence construction which will continue through the summer. If you get the chance to choose then I would choose the Molokai suites (also closer to Whalers Village).
If you have a large family there are lots of options for multiples rooms and beds and numerous gas grills if you want to cook out and save some cash. Everything in Maui is expensive!
Everything was clean and we enjoyed our stay.
We appreciate your TripAdvisor review of Marriott's Maui Ocean Club! Thank you for sharing your experience and we hope to see you again on your next trip to Hawaii!
In true Marriott fashion they always deliver a consistent quality resort with great service. My girlfriend and I have stayed at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club twice in the past 18 months, in two different towers during our visits. The first time we were in the main building complex, great room, with his and hers bathrooms which is very important. We had a view of the ocean and pool which at the time seemed like a dream come true. However, we had no idea that the pool area which caters to kids, would start soooo early. The noise was extreme, instead of opening our sliding glass door and enjoying the sound of the ocean over morning coffee, it was a full on kids playground.
In direct contrast, our next stay was in the adjacent tower which was oriented more for non-family visitors. The rooms had varied views and faced a more adult pool area. What we gained in this tower's more adult oriented atmosphere we lost in accommodations. The room was much smaller than our previous room, one bathroom and much older.
This makes it a tough call, do you ask for the larger, nicer rooms in the main tower knowing the noise will be extreme, or go for the more secluded, quieter but smaller room, this is your call.
These are the facts as I have experienced them, great hotel, great location, great staff, choose your room wisely based on whether it is a family or couples getaway.
Thank you for returning to visit us at Marriott's Maui Ocean Club! We appreciate your review and are glad to hear your most recent stay was enjoyable. Thank you again for visiting and our team looks forward to your next vacation in Hawaii!
