We booked at Maui Guest House 'couse was 1st on tripadvisor and we discovered why! The funny Tanna and the sweet Barbara took care of us for any needs!
Sea equipment, personal hot tube, suggestions, excursions. They provide to all our necessities.
They love what they do and this makes the difference! As soon we arrived we receive a great Aloha and we felt soon at home!
That's why they are in pool position on Tripadvisor!
Thanks and Mahalo!

My husband and I had only three days on Maui and stayed at the Maui Guest House. What a wonderful place. We felt it was romantic and very relaxing! Room was very comfortable and we loved having a soft tub in our room as well as being able to cool off in the pool in the evenings. Tanna was very helpful in guiding us to what to see while we were here. We would for sure come back! Nice breakfast every morning and our room was always spotless when we came back every day. Close to everything but still felt like you were away from the crowded hotels.

Spent 3 nights here in July as a couple for a quick getaway from Honolulu.

The B&B is located in a residential neighborhood but close to Lahaina.
Ample parking for your car.
While we were there the place is overseen by a couple hired by the owner. The couple is on site 24/7.
We stayed in the back corner room -when facing the house it is on left back corner.

PROS

1.Rooms are clean with comforable bed and nice tiled bathroom.Rooms are made up daily.

2.Rooms have refrigerator

3.nice cold a/c

4 small.private patio area looking out on small garden

5.private hottub in your private patio

6.access to beach gear/beach towels

7.access to first aid stuff, sunscreen at no charge

8.access to condiments in kitchen if you decide to cook or want to make a picnic

9.free tea/coffee available

1o.access to free iced tea/lemonade/tang in the community fridge.

11.small salt water swimming pool which was warm and open 24 hours

12.nice sundeck fronting the house with distant view of ocean if you are standing

13.huge selection of dvds for your viewing pleasure available for free

14.community computer available if you need it

15.WIFI worked well

16.DIY laundry available with free detergent but only during hours of 1pm-7pm.

17.hotel can set up tours for and can offer some discounts with certain companies.

18.nicely located by Lahaina with easy access to Kaanapali area

19.Friendly staff available with lots of information about Maui.

20.DIY road to hana c.d. available for free use if you are touring on your own.

CONS

1.Breakfast was not impressive for us but adequate.Costco mufffins and costco bagels/yoplait yogurt and assortment of fruits-canteloupe,honeydew,grapes,strawberries,kiwi,pineapple,watermelon and bananas.coffee/milk and some dry cereals. We never saw any fresh bread or mangoes as mentioned in some other reviews.
According to the hotel Maui B&B's are not allowed to make hot breakfast.
Breakfast started at 7:30 am. To go cups for coffee are provided if you rushing out the door.

2.The room had sort of a closed in feel for some reason. Not much of a view-Remember we has a room in the back..Window has beautiful stained glass but I think this contributed to closed in feeling.Front right room seems to have better location with its own door opening onto the front sundeck.

3.Your room cannot be locked once you leave your room so we always took our valuables with us when we left.
The front door is always open as well which is good for access but maybe not if security is a concern for you.

4.Even though the house is large when the place is booked up you will find yourself running into the other people staying there or staff and will have little privacy when using the community facilites. There was always someone else around on the outside deck/using the kitchen/sitting around at breakfast. I guess this can be a good thing or a bad thing depending your preference and the people you are running into.

5.quiet time after 9am. kitchen is closed after 8pm. laundry only from 1-7pm. all understandable but still limits access.

Overall a good stay at this solid value B&B in West Maui.
Remember this is a good location for accessing Lahaina/ Kaanapali and any boat tours leaving Lahaina harbor.
The main airport is about 35 plus minutes away in Kahului and Paia is about 40 minutes away by car.The Harbor near the Maui Aquarium is about 25-30 minutes away -this is where the trilogy tours leave for Molokini day trips. The trilogy Lanai tours leave form Lahaina harbor.

This was our second stay at the Maui Guesthouse, and it was just as wonderful as five years earlier when we visited Maui for our honeymoon. On arrival, we received a warm "welcome home" from our hosts, and it was really sweet to hear those words. The Guesthouse is clean, spacious, well-maintained, and quiet. The rooms are beautifully appointed and comfortable. Breakfast is delicious (the fresh mangoes are awesome!), there are always loungers available by the pool, and the hosts are happy to help book activities, set you up with any equipment you might need for the day (snorkel gear, beach chairs, coolers, etc), or just chat. Tanna even edited our underwater photos (taken on one of their cameras we had rented) so that the colour would be accurate, and uploaded them to our flash drive for us as we hadn't brought a laptop. It's kind of tricky taking pictures underwater, and we had a good chuckle together about some of the images! We can't wait to return to Maui, and when we do, we will definitely stay here again!

There is definitely a reason this place gets such high reviews. It couldn't be more comfortable. The location is great. You are minutes from Front St without actually being stuck in the middle of it. We loved our SoftTub and used it daily. The guest house really is as good as the pictures make it look on TripAdvisor. We would have no problems with returning and wish we were there right now!

We had a wonderful stay at the Maui Guesthouse. The rooms were spacious and clean and were equipped with a nice hot tub.

We especially appreciated that the owner Tanna found time to go diving with us on two consecutive days. While we were diving, she took some great underwater pictures. During diving we saw several turtles close-up, and a sleeping shark.

Our stay at the Maui Guest House was unfortunately only for two nights -- I was on Maui for work, staying at another hotel, before moving to this charming guesthouse for my two "free days" at the end. I wish I would have had more time to stay longer! This was a great place to unwind. We were impressed from the moment we were welcomed by Brad from the railing above when we pulled into the parking spaces.

Maui Guest House is very well run and organized. We were offered a lemonade and given a tour around the house when we checked in, followed by great advice to our questions about some things we wanted to do around Maui. Some things that impressed me: the soft tub in our bedroom; the library of DVDs (although we never made time to relax and watch a movie); the overall cleanliness of the place; the privacy offered in the pool area, even though the guesthouse is in a residential area; and the welcoming hospitality of the hosts. I'm also crazy in love with the bamboo-style faucet that was in our bathroom. (I'm looking for one for when we remodel our bathroom at home!)

There were lots of little touches that make guests feel at home. If there's something you need, no worries, they probably have you covered... toiletries... basic medical supplies... spices for cooking... beach chairs and a cooler... resources for your visit. We mentioned that we planned to do the Road to Hana, but had done very little research ahead of time. Brad set us up with an audio CD to accompany us on our journey and explain things along the way.

Thanks for everything! Next time I'll stay longer. :)
