My boyfriend and I were only able to stay at the Guest House one night, but we highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again (if we ever get back to Maui)! It's got everything - very friendly staff; really nice, clean rooms (with that special hawaii character but without sacrificing the modern amenities); great location - very close to Lahaina (Maui's nightlife) and the Ka'anapali beaches; and free use of beach supplies (chairs, towels, boogie boards, etc). All rooms have their own hot tub (perfect for that pre-dinner soak after a hike up Haleakala crater) and our room had a 42" flat screen tv. The staff was great, very accommodating - they let us store our luggage before check-in time and directed us to the beach stocked with towels, beach chairs, boogie boards and a beach umbrella. They even offered food and drink to a friend of ours who was just visiting but not a guest. The kitchen is open 24hrs with juices, snacks, fruits, you name it. Other pluses: there's free internet in the common area and an extensive DVD library. Overall, worth every penny!

We just spent 12 nights in HI, 10 of them at the Guest House. My wife and I like to stay at B&B's when we travel, and I have never been so moved in a positive way to write a critique as I was by our experience at the Guest House. Owner Tanna and her staff of 4 made us feel like we were in our own home. It starts with the warm greeting when you walk in the front door. An offer of a refreshing drink, while shown to your room and all the extras in the public areas, such as a full kitchen, a spice rack that rivals our own gourmet kitchen, snacks available 24 hours a day. A free video collection that I haven't seen except in some commercial video store. Each room had a 40" plasma TV with surrond sound and DVD player. Refrigerator, hot tub, clean towles every day. All the beach gear is provided including chairs, snorkling gear, beach towles. You name it and it is provided.

We found the guests to be excellent also, some cooked their own breakfasts in addition to the fresh fruit and ceral provided. We made blue berry pancakes one morning, just because they had real maple syrup in the pantry. All this and you would expect to pay a small fortune, not so; very very competive. All in All this is now our favorite B&B and yes we will return.

Where do I begin? Staying here was such a fantastic experience. The photos do not do this place justice. Do not judge a book by its cover, in terms of the residential neighborhood. There is no sign out front, so you could miss it, but the location is right in Lahaina and close to everything.
Rhea and Anna, our hosts were so attentive, caring, warm, and inviting- we got the grand tour from Anna upon arrival and she made us feel at home. Tanna, the owner was off on a scuba trip so we missed her. The B and B is totally homey, comfy, quiet and peaceful.
The rooms are all hidden and tucked away for total privacy. The ammenities are endless- they fit you into your snorkel gear (a size for everyone), you get multiple juices and Kona coffee/tea all day long, beach towels, chairs, coolers, laundry, computer (did not touch!), slack key guitar music you can buy, they burn photo cds for you, and breakfast is a work of art. Our room was renovated recently and had a covered lanai with a gorgeous garden view and a jacuzzi. We slept at night with the slider open. There were birds singing in the morning and the sound of trees swaying in the evening breeze, from the jacuzzi. We awoke to the soft sound of slack key guitar in the breakfast room. Heaven on earth! One last thing, if you forgot to bring your sunscreen, no problem! There is a cupboard with lotions, aloe, q-tips, etc. Our shower had a skylight and our room had a new flat screen tv with a dvd player- we could take movies from the video library into our room at night. We had a fridge, too, for POG! Mahalo to Rhea, Anna, and Tanna for creating this safe haven. We will be back! Photos on the way! Annette and Pedram

We just got back and simply enjoyed our stay at the Guesthouse. As far as we are concerned, this is THE place to stay in Lahaina. We are not "resort" types and found that just about everything in West or South Maui was either a resort or condo, all located together, row upon row of large buildings and tons of people.

The guesthouse is in a residential neighborhood just one block from the beach. (Real Maui people live here, not snowbirds) These beaches are those visited by residents not totally vacationers.

The Guesthouse is comfortable, away from the masses, yet close enough to the action. It is very clean, always a snack available, good breakfast, great supplies available (no charge), such as coolers, flippers, mask and snorkels, beach chairs, boogie boards, etc...

We found that our room was one that was not yet renovated...and the mattress was poor. When we brought up the mattress problem, there was no offer to change to an available room. We were suprised that some of the staff were unaware of many restaurants and activites available. All told, this was a very good place to stay. We regret that we did not take more advantage of the facilities.

Our favorite part of the vacation was staying on the windward side of the island in Paia at the Inn at Mama's Fishhouse.

I am just back from my 45 day vacation in paradise and spent the first 12 days at the Guesthouse bed and breakfast. I opted for the puka room, the least expensive and smallest room, and have no regrets. Don't expect to be staying in an amazing neighborhood but this place is great. When I walked into the bed and breakfast it was like finding an oasis in the desert. I felt welcomed and comfortable. Plus you are only 5 minutes from Kaanapali beach, my favorite! I did spent some time in Kihei and would not recommend that. The condo was on the beach but the beaches aren't that nice plus Kihei has a busy street that runs by every condo so if you like the sound of motorcyles and cars then go for it. I prefer a quiet sleep in paradise.

My husband and I stayed here a couple weeks ago and had a great time. We are seasoned travelers, we normally stay at a luxury resort in Wailea, but for this trip we felt like saving a little money! We weren't disappointed. The owners are warm and friendly, and the inn is very clean & recently renovated. I believe they will soon be completing the renovation. Our room was comfortable (not too small) and had a nice hot tub and a huge plasma TV. There's also wireless internet/computer/boardgames and a huge DVD library.
We enjoyed the use of the kitchen and even grilled fish on the outdoor grill one night. The owner sets out delicious fruit/breads,etc for breakfast although no hot breakfast is served--but you can make it yourself with provided food. I personally would have loved having a hot entree option like at other b&b's, but it wasn't a big deal--it saved me from overeating! But, my minor gripe with communal dining though is that when someone (or a couple) is quietly making their bagel or getting their cereal, not everyone is respectful enough to give them a few minutes to get their breakfast and leave the kitchen area, wait their turn, etc. That was annoying. (it's not a huge kitchen)But thankfully I think most people are a bit more respectful than that.
The pool is a bit small (above ground), and the location isn't the greatest--you have to drive to a beach (or walk a mile or so, cross the main road/highway, etc)but it's in a convenient/quiet residential neighborhood. A great thing is that snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, etc are all provided which is a nice touch. I believe they also specialize in diving so they can hook you up with great trips/lessons etc, and they're part of a travel group so they can recommend a lot of tourist activities. Lahaina as a town wasn't impressive, it's got a few good restaurants, but it's got a lot of the typical cheesy souvenir stores. And not the best beaches. We definitely prefer Wailea over Lahaina. Overall,we enjoyed our stay here and would return. You really can't beat the price, you get a lot for your money. It's very cozy, clean, and the owners are really friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Enjoy!

In 2001, my husband (boyfriend at the time)stayed at The Guesthouse B&B and fell in love. Not only with the island of Maui but Tanna and The Guesthouse. This hidden treasure was by far the nicest, warm, loving place we have ever visited. The brochures and website do not begin to do this place the justice it deserves! The staff and their expertise of "where to go and what to do" was so helpful.
We came back again this year (2005) and was overwhelmed with the beautiful room renovations. The stained glass and custom furniture was breathtaking. We could not imagine this palce getting any better. If you are looking to visit the beautiful island of Maui - Check out The Guesthouse - Tanna's stories will keep you laughing!
