The Paia Inn provided, for my husband and myself, the most unique hotel experience we've ever had. The place itself is full of style, hip and comfortable furniture, local artwork, great music, and the most gorgeous, helpful cast of characters; ranging from the housekeeping staff to the proprietor. We had planned to stay only one night on our way to another hotel, but changed our plans to stay the remainder of our vacation right there, adding 5 nights! We had everything we needed/wanted and more. The beach is so close, so perfect, and we fell in love with the eclectic, laid-back town. Can't wait to go back, truly heartsick about leaving.

I recently stayed at the Paia Inn while kiteboarding in Maui. I can't say enough good things about my experience. It deserves high praise.

The location is ideal, right in the middle of a great little surf town that has miraculously escaped the sprawl of many other beach towns and only 10 minutes from Kite Beach and 5 minutes from Ho'okipa Beach. Guests enjoy easy walking access to 10-15 restaurants and cafes, along with a similar number of stores with art, craftwork and clothing. A quiet beach is easily accessed from the property by a private walkway.

I found the staff bright and cheerful, exceeding expectations and looking for ways to enhance my experience. It was like I was a guest in a friend's home. I commend Michael, Tina, Angelina, Nina and Sarah for their warm hospitality - it was refreshing and appreciated.

The Inn has been well appointed with a decorator's attention to detail and modern comforts. Bold and colorful local art works hang on the walls. Spa quality bath products from Maui's own Love Inside Out are provided and smell great. Linens and towels are also high quality. Tropical Plumeria flowers are placed near the sink and windows, giving the room a gentle and relaxed island feeling as the trade winds cool the room. WiFi access is robust and simple, and a pair of workstations with printer are provided in the lounge area should you need them.

Coffee and muffins are provided in the courtyard lounge each morning (a great way to start the day early if you're still adjusting to the timezone) I also enjoyed breakfast at Cafe des Amis and Anthony's, just across the street. A number of options are available for lunch and dinner. I particularly enjoyed Jacques and Flatbread Company, both just steps away.

I have stayed in many grand hotels around the world but none have matched the relaxed and friendly character, comfort and hospitality of the Paia Inn. I highly recommend a visit.

We spent a night at the Paia Inn. The hotel is beautiful, fluffy towels, wonderful bedding, local art throughout, nice courtyard for breakfast with delicious coffee and muffins, private beach access. Attentive and helpful staff. Walk to restaurants and shopping. Definately will return on our next visit to Maui. stayed 5/15/09

My wife and I spent 9 days in Maui and Paia was our favourite. I had booked 2 nights there, before driving to Hana for 3 nights. Our original plan was to use Paia as our base for hiking in the crater at Haleakala (incredible). Paia was such a fun little place, we wished we had booked longer. This beautiful little boutique hotel is perfect and I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. Michael, the owner, leads by example. He is attentive to your every need, providing information on where to eat, what to see and when to do it. His stamp is on everything, from the beautiful relaxing courtyard, with soft jazz playing in the background, and romantic lighting in the evening. The plants, waterfall and intricately carved door all add to the ambience. The staff at Paia Inn are equally attentive. Our room had everything you need. The kitchen was well stocked. There is a flat screen tv, not that we had time to ever look at it. Loved the complimentary shampoo and conditioner, made right here in Maui. The hand written note welcoming us to our room was a nice touch, no doubt one of Michael's ideas. Coffee, tea and muffins are available every morning in the courtyard. There is wireless internet for those of us who can't completely get away from work, also cool for staying in touch with the kids back home. The beach was lovely. Unfortunately we only had time for a quick peek. I highly recommend staying here but try to do it for at least 3 days. This will give you time to visit the volcano and unwind in this fun little town. We enjoyed Cafe Des Amis, excellent shrimp curry, but you have to ask for the hot chutney. They charge extra for this, not nice in my opinion. Lovely little coffee shops to enjoy as well. Plus your usual tourist shops. Mama's Fish House is nearby. While our fish was surprisingly and dissappointingly bland, the whole experience was worth it, and one we will do again. Expensive though.

We stayed just one night. The staff was very freindly. They took time to give us a tour of the Hotel and the beach. The location is great. It's on the Main street of town. The rooms are small but comfortable. The street side might get a little noisey on the weekend but the rooms have double pane windows and sound insulation. There is a great beach just a short walk from the Hotel. it has a great lobby and internet room. They have parking and that's a must in Paia. We'll surely stay there again.

We decided to take a long weekend and drive to Hana. First, we wanted to make a stop in Paia. We love this little beach town with all it's charm, cool restaurants & shops. We are SO glad we chose to stay at the Paia Inn.

We stayed in the Junior Suite, which has a sitting room with a loveseat, flatscreen tv, fridge, sink & dishes. Right outside our room was a common area with comfy chairs, desktop computers & travel books to read. This hotel is spotless & very comfortable. The bed was so great that we both slept like rocks. No noise at all. Every room is decorated top notch and includes gorgeous paintings by Avi Kiritary.
In the morning, you can sit outside in the quaint courtyard and enjoy complimentary coffee & muffins from Anthony's Coffee House. During "beach hours" you can walk the path behind the hotel right to a great beach. After hours, it's just a 10 minute walk down the sidewalk from the front of the hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed this boutique hotel so much that we were kind of disappointed when we checked into a "higher ranked" hotel the next day.

If you are considering visiting Paia, I would definitely check out the Paia Inn. Not only does the town have a lot to offer, but the Paia Inn will make your visit even more enjoyable. We felt completely relaxed there & will go back many times!

We stayed at the Junior Suite in the Paia Inn with our 10 month old baby last weekend and it was fabulous! It's a GREAT location right next to tons of great little places to eat, wonderfully designed (really well thought-out with a private walkway to the beach, a great place to lock up surfboards, nice morning snacks/coffee/tea, totally casual atmosphere yet everyone is super nice and helpful). They have many room options that we got to tour. We would highly recommend it and hope to stay there longer and try out the 1 bedroom cottage on our next trip to Maui.

The postcard perfection of Maui’s North Shore (white sand beaches, raging waterfalls, stylish cafes, and world-class surfers) just got even better with the opening of the Paia Inn. This beach town boutique hotel seamlessly blends modern amenities with the historic character of its building. In a nod to the town’s plantation trade days, the building’s exterior has retained its charm with tin rooftops and rustic hues; yet, the interior mixes contemporary island furnishings with the chic lushness of the W Hotel. ... more   less
