“You Get MAUI when you stay here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2009

Comfortably renovated jr. suite I think they call it was totally comfortable with a small kithen. Nicely renovated and with a comfortable bed - I haen't slept this well in months. Oh, and the staff - Pure Paia. The sweetest most caing people who get why Maui is so grand. If your a golf type, the resorts are great. If you like laid back frendliness, Paia is a great place to stay. pecial thanks to Tina whose simple kindnss really helped make my 5th anniversary grand.

The Paia Inn is a great little place to vacation at in Maui. It has been a perfect base location for the cycling trips that my friends and I have done on Maui. Now, our bike shop/outfitter, Maui Cyclery, is located next door to the Paia Inn making it even more convenient. The Paia Inn staff is very friendly and helpful.

We stayed in the room with the grand veranda (three rooms with an ocean view) and had an amazing time. Great indoor and outdoor shower, incredible hip location, located right at the base of the road to Hana. So many curiousities along the way - all within a few steps of the parking lot.

If you like to run, turn left out of the parking lot and run with the waves and shoreline to your left. Along the way you'll see a variety of beautiful sea flowers (mangy pangies, gardenias and some other ones I've since forgotten), the wonderful Mama's Fish House, and then the local hotspot for hundreds of talented surfers. Without any trouble at all, you'll reach mile 9 (two miles from the Inn) and the amazing hidden cove on your left. What a view - and an incredible place to stop and contemplate the meaning of life.

Back at the Inn, take an outside shower, get dressed and walk across the street for a wonderful muffin and great coffee. When you're done, grab a boogie board from the outdoor closet and head to the very private and secluded beach - complete with wonderful sand, token lava rocks, and great waves for body or board surfing.

Pinch yourself while you look around at your good fortune. If you're lucky, you'll meet Michael the owner, pretty Janelle and the wonderful folks at the Inn - always ready to help or send over a smile. If you see any of them, tell him and them thank you for our Friday night adventure...

While in Paia, you must take the road to
Hana. Visit the beautiful waterfalls, eat the fish tacos at the local stands, find the wonderul lady with the homemade coconut milk ice cream (super yummy) and try all the flavors (served in a coconut).

When you return to your room, grab a drink or make a nice meal in the accessorized kitchen. Great knives, great glasses, big refrigerator.

Sit on the veranda and pinch yourself again. Toast your friends with your cocktail. Look at the water. Take a deep breath - taste and feel the mauiian air. If you want to head into town, go everywhere - but don't miss the fish tacos at the fish market or the gelato from the mysterious and beautiful dark haired lady with blue eyes (next to the Inn's main office).

At night, leave your french doors open to feel the off-shore breeze. Take comfort in knowing you are still in Maui - living the life and living the dream.

I wax meloncholy on purpose. The Paia Inn puts you smack dab in the center of a great little town. Close enough to the airport, and far enough away from both the Crater and Hana - to make both trips and wonderful half to full day excursion. The ocean view veranda was super clean, super trendy, comfortable, functional, airy and superbly outfitted for a party of more than a few. Heck, it couldn't have been better.

I could not imagine a better place to spend a week, a month or a lifetime. I am actively thinking of how to make it back sooner than later.

You will not be making a wrong decision by choosing this accommodation. If you do get a room - or the room with the veranda, please start counting the minutes until you get there. All the anticipation in the world is worth it - you'll love the Inn, the people, the town, and every little adventure you get yourself into. Don't be surprised if you find yourself falling in love with everyone and everything. I know I did.

p.s. Mama's Fish House (if you just have to go) has two bars and apps. for a fraction of the cost of the meal. Check it out and drink an incredible Maui Tai (complete with unbrellas!) or two. Again you'll see more incredible flowers. I was fortunate to go with a floridian botanist - who was quick to show me the free growing aloe bush/leave/tree thing. Nice trick - and wonderful for sunburns...

The Paia Inn was a perfect place to stay for my first trip to Maui!! The private beach is absolutely beautiful as well as the accomodations!! The staff is super friendly and willing to cater to your trip! Even the owner of the hotel was out and about introducing himself to the guest and it was obvious everyone loved working at the Paia Inn. Very relaxing little town with great shops and restaurants all within walking distance! Must eat at Flat Breads!! It is amazing, especially after a long flight!!! Overall the Paia Inn is a MUST (ask about there private beach villas..they arent on the website but well worth the extra $).

The Inn is tucked into the surfing & artisitic town of Paia. It is independently owned by a long time local. There is private access to a small sweet sandy beach.
The Inn was remodeled with inviting colors and a feel of relaxation. It was comfortable and clean. Staff seemed extra friendly . And there is even a pingpong table for guest use. I reccommend this to anyone who wants something off the resort beaten path.

Wonderful staff and a great location on the North Shore. Kiting, surfing and windsurfing all within a 10 minute drive. Staff and owners go out of their way to be helpful and nothing is too much trouble. A special unique place.

A nice little place located in the heart of the town of Paia. There are quite a few restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance. Our room was very well furnished and the kitchen had nice appliances. The hosts had thought about the guests' requirements very well - with little notes on appliances indicating what's where. The hosts were also extremely friendly and helpful with anything-at-all to make our stay comfortable. The long, narrow, walkways opening up to a nice beach in the backyard was interesting. They also have complimentary snorkel gear (although there may not be great snorkel spots around), boogie-boards, ping-pong, available for use.

Overall, an expensive place to stay, but the facilities and hospitality are worth every penny you pay. You don't want to stay here if you're just looking for a place to sleep.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The postcard perfection of Maui’s North Shore (white sand beaches, raging waterfalls, stylish cafes, and world-class surfers) just got even better with the opening of the Paia Inn. This beach town boutique hotel seamlessly blends modern amenities with the historic character of its building. In a nod to the town’s plantation trade days, the building’s exterior has retained its charm with tin rooftops and rustic hues; yet, the interior mixes contemporary island furnishings with the chic lushness of the W Hotel. ... more   less
