Mana foods is Whole Foods,Trader joes and sprouts all rolled into one! The selection of items is incredible. This is the way local markets used to be.We were amazed at the prices.Turns out the building is owned not a lease. The produce is local and fresh as are most of the baked goods.
Anyone with special dietary needs will be in heaven with the many choices that are available.
The parking lot next door has a two hour limit be mindful of that. There is however a large free public lot a short walk up the street. We always stay in Kaanapali and bring a couple of insulated grocery bags with us even the ice cream makes the drive back OK .Paia is great little town if you want something good for the drive to Hana stock up here before you head out on the 36. Important from 2 p.m. on Paia is very congested but traffic does move but slowly. Mana foods is best visited in the morning. Remember this is a local market caters to locals ask questions be friendly it goes a long way while shopping here Aloha.

We stopped here on our way to stay at Hana for a few days to get a few groceries. Mana was recommended by posters on the Hawaii forums, which is why we stopped. Parking was a bit of a problem but we found some close to the store.
The store is very small and unique. Something like a funky, hippified Trader Joe's. My daughter is allergic to diary & she practically swooned over the non-dairy selections of cheese, yogurt, dressing, etc. Lots & lots of options that we have never seen in Northern Virginia. This is not to say that this is a totally vegan place - I was able to get regular yogurt & turkey lunch meat.
There is an emphasis on local produce. One real Hawaiian treat is apple bananas & Mana had plenty. They also have a small deli for food to go. Service was super friendly.
We had planned on visiting only once on our way to Hana, but there were so many daughter friendly options, we also visited on the way back.
Food is expensive but fair considering that Maui is in the middle of an ocean & it's a comparatively small store.

This, not so impressive from the outside, grocery store and take away spot is an incredulous experince in food shopping. Every ethnic food is available for purchase. Fresh local produce, dry & canned goods, frozen foods, beverages, bakery items and confections are here.

After we flew into Maui, we stopped here first for a few groceries and to pick up a deli lunch, which we took over to a nearby beach to eat. Had one of the best sandwiches of my life from Mana Foods - it was a brown sugar turkey BLT with avacado - just delicious! If you want organic and/or gluten-free foods for your trip, this is the place to stop. Be aware there is no ice for your ice chest here though.

Our bed n breakfast recommended us to check this place out. It was perfect for us as we like to eat on the healthier side. Only downside was the ruuude cashier as we were leaving. I politely asked if her register was open and she snapped back with her response and clearly was having a bad day/hated her job...anyways. Her attitude really let the place down. Overweight/underpaid....bla bla....
