“A wonderful, yummy tour of Maui!”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

We had a wonderful time touring and eating our way around Maui. What a joy it was having a one on one tour with our guide Bonnie thru the Up-Country of Maui. We started the tour in the Valley of Iao and went from there. There was food at every stop we made! Do not eat before you go (we made that mistake), there was so much left overs (which you get) that we had food to eat all the next day! It was so informative; the different cultures that make up the culinary history of Hawaii and to taste it all was fabulous. Thank you Bonnie for a wonderful tour!

“Embraced by the Aloha Spirit”
Reviewed 11 May 2013

With hopes of not sounding cliche, we started as strangers and ended the tour happy to call Bonnie a friend. This is such a unique activity to do on the island and 3 visits later, we still go back to the places she recommended. What could be better then delightful food mixed with a dose of history? Worth every penny!

“Upcountry Food Tour w/Bonnie”
Reviewed 29 April 2013

My wife and I spent 12 days in Hawaii (Maui & Oahu) and our food tour with Bonnie was certainly one of the biggest highlights of our trip.

Four of us went on the Upcountry tour and it was a great experience from the very beginning. We met Bonnie at the Heritage Gardens Kepaniwai Park and proceeded to learn some of the history of the Hawaiin culture and influences from other countries (mostly in Asia). After getting a sample of some great local foods (beignets, spam musubi, noodles, etc.) we were off to explore the Upcountry!

Things didn't go as planned as the first stop on our tour was closed for remodeling and one of the next stops for a snack started closing one day a week (yep, on the day we were there of course). While it was not an unfamiliar turn of events for our group (this is unfortunately a regular occurence on my trips... but that's another long story), Bonnie did great to re-group and introduce us to some local groceries that had fantastic options we would've never explored.

All totaled, we had three snacks/mini-meals, one lunch at a very surprising place that tasted amazing, and finished things off with the requesite shave ice from another local grocer. Needless to say, we had lots of leftovers and enjoyed each and every item we put into our hungry mouths.

I know there have been some comments/concerns about the cost of the tour but for those who vacation regularly in different places, any excursion lasting 4+ hours can easily go over $100 and it's usually part of a large group feeling like you're being herded like cattle. In this case, we had our own private guide and tour while making a new friend in the process. The insight alone to all of the food options and some of Bonnie's secret "go to" places makes it worth it. For a three day stretch in Maui, I ate some of the best food I've ever had and they were due to Bonnie's tour and recommendations. It was absolutely fantastic and the great meals made our week in Maui even more rewarding.

The next time we visit Maui, we'll definitely be reaching out to Bonnie as she's become pretty comfortable with our group's unique humor and we now consider her our friend. :)

“Bonnie got me full and made me smarter”
Reviewed 24 April 2013

My wife and I had a blast on the "GAS-tronomy Maui" tour of Maui's gas station cuisine. We were looking for an adventure, new food and insight into Hawaii's food culture and Bonnie provided all three. She was a great host, full of information about Hawaii's history, it's food and everything else we peppered her with questions about. That this tour is strictly at gas stations should be enough to let you know the meals come with styrofoam, not a sommelier. You probably know whether or not you're the kind of person who would go for that (if not - Bonnie has other tours that I'm sure are great too). I read a couple reviewers comment about overpricing, but I don't get that. It's a food t-o-u-r. You're paying for the experience of having an expert drive you to places you didn't know about and getting an insider's knowledge along with the meals. It shouldn't be a surprise that costs more than just the food alone would. Thanks Bonnie!

“Ten Stars!!”
Reviewed 5 April 2013 via mobile

5 "stars" isn't enough! 10 is more like it! Bonnie did an OUTSTANDING job on our tour. It was more than we expected! We've been on Food Tours before, and this one is the best, by far! Bonnie was very informative about the local customs, history, cultures, as well as being an expert on really GREAT food! She knows her stuff, and is a very fun person to be with. We went places that we would have never experienced otherwise, and would have missed out on some really fun and tasty experiences. If you like adventure, are willing to try new things, then you MUST do Bonnie's Tour Da Food!!!
