“Underwhelming View”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

*Meh* I thought it was going to be more impressive than it was, but it is what it is. Honestly, it probably would be more impressive looking after a good rain with all the waterfalls that look like they're in the area.

The hike to the lookout is short, though crowded. The lookout area is also small and crowded. Parking was a nightmare, so good luck. Bathrooms here are portables. Worth a look if you're in the area, but not if you're going to drive out of your way to get here. What you see in postcards, magazines and on TV were good enough for me.

“Beautiful, Super Quick Stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2014

$5 fee for parking. Quick trot up ~9 flights of cement stops and from a viewing platform you can see a picturesque view. Either trail will take you less than 30 minutes, easy to get to.

“Iao Valley - Iao Needle- Maui”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2014

Beautiful unspoilt scenery. Easy walk up to the monument, with viewing platform and excellent views.
The display park in the lower area of the park shows a remake of a Hawaiian from over 100 years ago, a must see - don't drive past this even if you only spend 10 minutes and walk around.
Iao State Park is well worth the visit.

“Great picturesque views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2014

It was worth the trip up to Ioa Valley. The views were were go but in the afternoons it does get misty. The mountain gets over 400 inches of rain per year. There is limited parking and they even charge you $5.00 to park if you park on the street and walk up. We were expecting that since Maui nickels and dimes you for parking everywhere. In any case it is well worth the stop. The park on the way up to Ioa Valley is also worth a quick stop. A lot of history on the immigrants that came to Hawaii over the last 200 yrs.

“Informative and Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2014

This half day visit was a delight to the eyes and opened an inquisitive-ness to Hawaiian history that I would never have pursued otherwise. And one of the most beautiful places I have seen.
