“Go at high tide”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

Not great for snorkeling if tide is low. The water is too shallow, rocky and coral, and the waves will wash you around. Consider hiring a boat to go outside the reef.

“Pretty beach, a little shallow for snorkeling”
Reviewed 12 August 2013

Murphy's is a very pretty beach, and was recommended for snorkeling but I found it a bit too shallow to navigate comfortably. I may have been in the wrong spot or maybe didn't go far out enough... tried to head out toward a clear spot where the rocks weren't sticking up out of the water. There were some very nice fish to be seen here, just note that it is a little tough to maneuver over the rocks given the shallowness.

“Deserted Paradise”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

This is a beautiful beach! It is located at the Mile 20 road mark. We brought snorkel gear and had a fantastic afternoon. The water is very shallow for about 30 yards (or more?) offshore. We had no problem with current or waves. The coral is in great condition and there were tons of fish. You can sun yourself on the beach and look across the channel to the hills of Maui. A great way to spend a day!

“Pretty Beach”
Reviewed 14 July 2013

We had a great time at this beach. It was calm enough to wade in and we saw several locals out fishing. We enjoyed our lunch from Goods and Grinds with a view of the beach. This beach also just happened to be right down the road from where we were staying. Perfect!

“Recommended by locals”
Reviewed 8 February 2013

At mile 20, this is a popular beach with the locals. we stayed at mile 19, so the beach was close. There is plenty of sand and a decent sized beach. The wind and surf were up so the wave watching was fun. Of course, I could stare at the ocean for hours. Probably the nicest beach on the east side.
