So my boyfriend and I found this place on the internet and the owner/front desk guy talked me into reserving the required 3 nights there instead of the Ko'Olina Marriott since it was right across the street from Sharks Cove, known to be one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. Plus it was in the North Shore where he guaranteed we would get the true island feel instead compared to staying at a big resort. The evening we got to the house it looked really nice but the owner/front desk guy was nowhere to be found. Apparently he had left our key in an envelop outside the door and told us where to find our room. We ended up with the back cottage on the 2nd floor and shared the common area w/ 2 women for 1 night. The room was a bit small and had a bunk bed (the top was a twin, the bottom a full). Mind you I already had my reservations about that, but my bf talked me into taking a chance w/ the place due to its location. The first night we were there, he found a dead cocroach near the bed. Eww. The bathroom had no hot water working on the sink, the shower had low water pressure, plus there were tiny ants lingering all over the place. The kitchen sink handle wasn't placed on the knob correctly which seemed to get stuck each time you turned on the water, but at least it had hot water. Then some of the kitchen cabinets didn't even have handles, and when you opened them up, you really weren't sure if something was going to lunge out at you. Also, you had to be mindful about leaving food on the counter because ants had a knack for finding everything and anything if left uncleaned for a second. I know it sounds horrible, but I grew not to mind it so much since we weren't there half the time. And when we were there, we spent most of the time in the patio. I can go on and on, but in a nutshell...this place will do if you're not looking for resort like living in the North Shore. It's a convenient location across from Sharks Cove Snorkeling, 5 min from the North Shore and other good surfing spots, and is 20 min aways from Halaiewa, the closest town that actually has restaurants. BTW, beware..the neighbor has a rooster and on the clock EVERYDAY we were there, it woke us up at 5am and didn't stop cock-a-doo-ing or whatever a rooster does for about 2-3hrs. That made a huge difference on our stay.

We stayed at Sharks Cove Rentals for four nights in late Nov 2008. It was in a perfect location on the North Shore of Oahu. Within walking distance to Pipeline, Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach.

The accommodation was simple, with shared kitchen and bathoom facilities. There was a communal BBQ area that everyone staying at the place used, providing a good opportunity to get to know ppl easily.

I would not hestitate to stay here again. I just hope they keep renting it out. The owners of the property said they are trying to sell it at the moment, so I dont know how much longer they will be renting rooms.
