“Love the turtles”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

I love to visit this beach to see the turtles. It seems this beach has become over run with people though. But I am glad to see volunteers there helping to protect the turtles every day.

“2:30pm - Turtle time!”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

Our kids desperately wanted to see turtles and I had read about this beach ahead of our trip to the North Shore. After a few days of hoping for turtle encounter in the ocean, we drove by here around 2:30 (lower tide) and got our first encounter. It was awesome!

There were lots of people and crossing the street was a bit harry with little ones, but if you only have one chance to see a turtle this is probably your best bet. We've since seen many out swimming and surfing, but every day like clockwork driving by around 2-3pm there is a crowd on this beach with at least one of these amazing creatures to view.

So, if your visit is short or you're just making a quick trip around the island, stop here for a near guaranteed encounter.

“Friendly Turtles”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

I think we found this place by accident, we were driving along and saw lots of cars and tour buses parked so we decided to stop and see what all the fuss was about.
We followed the crowd and walked along the beach and there were loads of turtles sunbathing, I now understand why there are so many people. There are volunteers on the beach to make sure that people don't get too close to the turtles. The volunteers told us that we can actually go for a swim, so I went and there were a few turtles swimming not so far away from me. Apparently they bite so don't go chasing them in the water or get too close. We were in awe, they are such beautiful and peaceful creatures. We just stayed watching them and chatting to the volunteers for about 3 hours.

“Turtles Turtles Turtles Turtles”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

The first time we were here, we spotted 3 turtles in the water but none were sunbathing. We came back a few days later and there were 3 sunbathing and we spotted at least 3 more in the water. We were swimming and 1 turtle was swimming 2 feet away from us! It was so exciting and the beach is also beautiful.

Totally worth it if you are in the north shore. There is a good chance that you are going to see turtles. There were 2. Bigger then I thought they would be.
