Description: At Big Wave Shrimp, we are serving Aloha daily. Our food truck is a favorite for locals and visitors alike, with a menu full of tasty, Hawaiian-style meals. With lots of tables, plenty of shade, and calming music, you'll love the laid-back ambience. Chef Kawita is the heart of our Big Wave Shrimp truck, adding love and ono-licious ingredients to every plate she serves. We are known for our shrimp plates, like Garlic Shrimp, Peeled Shrimp, Spicy Shrimp, and Shrimp Fried Rice, but we have plenty of other options as well. The Short Ribs, Spring Rolls, or our famous Mac Salad are sure to hit the spot.

“very cool place”

Just wanted to go here because of all the hype from Guy Fieri and its the only place I have ever ate at that's been on TV, well it was very good but I mean all food trucks have awesome food, its just their thing! Not hard to find as we were just driving slowly down the road and there is was literally like 20' off the road. I had the jumbo shrimp dish with rice, lots of flavour and glad we stopped.

“Big Wave, Big Shrimp”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

Ate at this food wagon 3 times while we were on Oahu! They are so friendly and the food was awesome. Great atmosphere eating at the picnic tables. We tried lemon pepper shrimp, garlic shrimp and the chicken. All were good but my favorite was the lemon pepper shrimp. When we let her know we were back for a third time she (sorry can't remember her name) offered us free drinks and thanked us for returning. Worth the drive:-)

Easily the most unique dining experience. Steak and lobster on a paper plate at a picnic table behind a gas station. Literally. I"m still not sure what exactly I ate, but it was fantastic. Would be nice if they could find just a little better parking spot.

“Great little stop!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2014

We had hired a car in Honolulu to drive around the island and after a visit to Pearl Harbour and the Dole Plantation we decided to stop here for lunch after spotting it just off the main road into Haleiwa and having recently seen it on an episode of Diner, Dives and Drive Ins.

We weren't disappointed with our choice at all - the shrimp were delicious and the portions generous. Between our family of four we tried the crispy, garlic and lemon peppered shrimp and all were delicious, The food was fresh and quickly served and the staff were helpful when we were choosing and accommodated us having combo shrimp plates. The rice, salad and sweet chilli sauce which were served with the shrimp was good but it is definitely the shrimp which you come for! The price is also very reasonable.

We enjoyed sitting out in the sun for our lunch stop, and also enjoyed the novelty of buying lunch from a truck. We would definitely recommend this as a lunch stop on an island road trip.

Don't get me wrong - the garlic shrimp is good, I just think some of the other trucks on the island might be better. The garlic is perfectly cooked in big chunks and has a smooth flavor. The rice is, well, rice. And then you are given a side salad/slaw that is drenched in ranch. Way too much ranch. Understandably each shrimp truck is going to have a slight variation from one to the other, this just wasn't my favorite.
