We were excited to be staying at the Ke Iki "bungalows" for a week on our honeymoon after reading all of the great reviews. However when we arrived we were greatly disappointed. We booked the Protea bungalow 11 months in advance but when we arrived we were told that some work was going on in this "bungalow" so we were given the 2-bedroom Antherium "bungalow" instead. The reason I put bungalow in quotes is that these really aren't bungalows at all. It was a building about 50 yards from the beach with 3 apartment units in it. After waiting an hour for our unit to be cleaned we checked in. The unit was very spaceous but was not extremely clean. The carpet looked dirty and both showers were stained. There was a large spot on the carpet that had been burned by an iron. There was one lamp in the entire unit and it had no shade. Our unit also had no fans, we were later told to go into another unit and take fans. After seeing the unit we were disappointed but decided to check out the beach because generally we don't use the room that much on vacation anyways. The beach was very nice and uncrowded, great for taking walks and watching the sunset. We got back to the room and decided to make a phone call only to find that the phone line wasn't activated in our unit. At 7:00AM the next morning we were jarred awake by a loud bang and cursing in the ceiling. Turns out the construction in the Protea was work in the attic which was also shared by our unit. We found out this work had been planned for at least a month. This was the final straw. We spent our first morning on Oahu looking for other accomodations. We decided to abandon our honeymoon budget and stay at Turtle Bay, and it was worth it. We went back to Ke Iki and promply checked out. To the credit of Ke Iki we were not charged for our night there. Reading the reviews here I'm guessing that this is not the typical Ke Iki experience, but for us it was a nightmare. We are posting this review hoping to save a future honeymoon couple from the same.

We arrived at Ke Iki in the dark (had trouble finding the place) and couldn't tell what the place looked like. We could hear the waves but couldn't see the beach. We got settled into our 2 bedroom oceanfront unit - Bird of Paradise. The first thing we noticed was the lack of an air conditioning unit. Being city folk, I thought my husband was going to revolt but all the windows were open and a wonderful island breeze was blowing through the unit. Upon waking the next morning, we were pleasantly surprised at the beauty of our location. The beach is spectacular! The unit was comfortable and modest but who stays in the room when you've got such paradise to explore? The on-premises washer and dryer were a definite plus. Ke Iki is a great place for families.
After staying at Ke Iki for 3 nights, we checked out and went to Waikikki. Oh how we wished our entire vacation was booked at the Ke Iki. The Royal Hawaiian on Waikikki beach was a complete letdown after the awesome stay we had on the North Shore. Although we probably won't travel to Oahu again, if we do, it will definitely include a stay at Ke Iki. (January 14 - 17, 2005)

Can I just say, "I LOVE THIS PLACE". I stayed in one of these bungalows for two weeks two years ago. It was one of the most relaxing and wonderful vacations I have ever experienced. I fell in love with the island so much I actually moved to Hawaii less than a year later. The hospitality is wonderful, and I felt right at home. There was even a friendly pooch to stand in as "mans best friend" for my dog who couldn't experience the island with us. I want to recommend that everyone experience the North Shore, especially Hale'iwa, because it is the true "island feel", it just isnt the same in Honolulu or Waikiki. Thank you so much for making my vacation wonderful.

If your idea of vacation is to be pampered and you need a spa, sauna or hot tub, if you need room service and you enjoy going to the beach each day along side of a thousand other vacationers you will not want to stay at Keiki Beach Bungalows.
Keiki beach Bungalows has charcoal grills and picnic tables on the patios for guests, the bungalow we stayed in had a fully equiped kitchen, tastefully furnished, roomy and very clean, Staying at Keiki Beach reminded me of renting a cabin in the mountains of Western Pa, the bungalows have just the right mix of a rustic feel and charm with the amenities of the 21st century.
The very best part is the view from your bungalow or patio, you will simply not find a more amazing sunset at any price.
Our visit was Oct. 04, each morning we walked from our patio onto the beach and watched the surfers practice for the up coming season on the some of the North Shores most famous surfing spots.
Greg the manager is a great guy, he takes great care of the place and is just a nice guy to meet.
Last but not least Keiki Beach is not for everybody and I am very happy about that, we could not have enjoyed our time in Oahu more.
P.S. Starbucks is a couple hundred yards down the road.

Despite securing reservations for three cabins via credit card at the Ke Iki Beach Bungalows eight months in advance, the owners cancelled our reservation 61 days before we were due to arrive, and gave our slots to a film crew. Cancelling a vacation stay would have been bad enough, but we had planned to have our wedding here, and losing the location caused us to scramble to replan everything in the short time remaining. Management on site said there might be a chance that we could have the wedding at another location they managed, but that was the last we heard from them.

I hear it's a nice place. Too bad we never got a chance to see it.
