The captain of our whale watching excursion recommended Luibuenos as a place that had good Baja style tacos, so we thought we'd take a break from the mai tais and seafood and have margaritas and seafood instead.
As other reviewers have noted, the salsa is the real thing. Very flavorful, just spicy enough. We tried the classic margarita - a refreshingly real margarita with alcohol in it and real ingredients, not that stuff out of a jug that a lot of places use. Salt on the rim, on the rocks, a nice size for the price.
I can't remember the name of our appetizer, and I'mnot seeing it on the menu that is on their website. It was pork wrapped in corn tortillas, deep fried, with a yummy cheesy sauce. Very filling - it could be an entree. We then moved on to tacos. I had two blackened ahi tuna tacos with rice and beans, and my husband had a grilled ahi and a baja with rice and beans. After the appetizer one taco would have been more than enough, though. The ahi tacos were filled with a sizeable chunk (not slices) of tuna, I'm guessing about 4 oz. Rare, just as we requested. The toppings were fresh and flavorful.
Our server was quick and helpful with my questions regarding ingredients. All in all a very nice experience.
