“Morning Activity”
Reviewed 28 August 2014 via mobile

Just went for a morning swim at Kahalu'u Beach Park.
Easily accessible from Kona's Alii Drive, with good sized parking lot. No access fee.
Go early in the morning before the crowds arrive. The water is clear and the angle of the sunlight, hitting the bottom of the bay, makes it a spectacular experience.
Tropical fish are abundant and the currents are not to strong, which makes it easy for swimmers who are not comfortable in ocean swimming.
Got to be able to swim, though.
Great place to get a refreshing and inspiring start of the day.

“Kailu Beach is a great swimming destination”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

If you are in the Kailua area don't hesitate to stop at Kailua Beach. Sand is so soft, there is lots going on to watch like wind surfers, etc. Parking is very good but get there early if you can.

“Postcard perfect beach”
Reviewed 27 August 2014 via mobile

Kailua Beach is perfect, it has fine, soft bright white sand, gentle waves, warm and azure coloured water. No reef shoes needed! Safe for families and very enjoyable for couples. Located on the east coast of Oahu, about 40 minute drive from Honolulu - a must to add to your tour itinerary.

This is an excellent place to soak up the sun and take in a relaxing dip. There are changing rooms and a grass area for picnics.

“A Childhood Favorite Revisited”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

Still the beautiful beach I remembered, lovely trees softly shade the entry. Usually soft waves, very soft white sand and the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen... 10 morning in a row!!!

The recent hurricane did some major erosion unfortunately, now there is a 6 foot shelf you gotta jump to get to the water's edge. I'm sure that will be rectified by the time I return next year. Lots of canoes and parasailing going on... fun to watch.
