Ive lived in Hawaii my whole life and never been to this place. Although a new restaurant at this location the bowling alley has been there. Its real casual, laid back, tables and chairs just like at home BBQ style. Hawaiian Food is delicious, well priced for serving amount. I had the two choices selection and chose Kalua Pig, and Chicken Long Rice with Poi $13.75 + tax. Service "so-so", but, it was really busy that night. Perfect location for Birthday party, meeting, or family gathering. Id go back again and Id refer to locals "Ono Grinds" for sure.

Looking for truly authentic Hawaiian food or you enjoyed your Lu'au food? You don't need to go to a Lu'au to enjoy it you just have to stop by Hale Kealoha.

I was referred by a friend to use ‘Ai Pono Catering Services as my wedding caterer. I wanted a traditional Hawaiian buffet. Lucky for me unlike most caterers on island I was able to go into their restaurant Hale Kealoha and give it a try myself. It was exactly what we wanted. Everything that Tammy Smith and her family make in their kitchen is authentic and delicious. Not to mention the entire family is friendly and welcoming. Almost better than the food is having the chance to talk with Tammy Smith.

Also Hale Kealoha has daily food specials. I was lucky enough to try their smoked meat with onions. It was simply amazing. Sometimes a family member goes out and catches fresh fish and they fry it up as a food special.

Now if you think certain Hawaiian food plate lunches is traditional Hawaiian... well it isn't. Hale Kealoha keeps the authenticity without sacrificing taste. Additionally every other Monday when their restaurant is closed they cook the kalua pig in the imu to get ready for their week. Honestly a place like this is so hard to find on this island. It is about time you can have traditional Hawaiian food without going to a Lu'au.

If you do come do not pass up on talking to your server and if you are really lucky Tammy Smith. This family is friendly and if given the opportunity you will feel as though you are welcome into their home.

Also as far as catering is concerned I am so glad Tammy Smith and her family was recommended to me. Tammy puts so much love and care into figuring out what works best for you. The prices cant be beat and the quality and care put into it cannot be beat. Tammy Smith reminds me that not always is business just business but you can put love and care into a service. This family loves what they do and it shows.

Also Tammy Smith and her family do a lot within the community to help people cook traditionally and on a budget (we all know how expensive food can be).

Lastly, I am not from Hawaii and I don't always feel welcome when I go to some places. But this entire family will welcome you with open arms into their restaurant and don't pass up on their daily specials!

When you first walk into this place you may have second thoughts on you choice of dining but sit done and give it a try! What is lacking in decor is made up in service and food. Very traditional Hawaiian food on the menu is delicious and the service is great. Ask about the pictures of the boats on the wall for some gray family stories.

We read about Kealoha's in the newspaper and we are so happy that we went there for dinner.
The location is the old Tiare's bar in the Pali Lanes Bowling Alley in Kailua. The servings are huge, we each ordered the two selection for $ 13.00 and that was enough food for 6 people (there were 4 of us). The selections are: beef stew, chicken long rice, kalua pig, squid luau. We got a selection of everything which included white rice, lomilomi salmon, sweet potato and haupia. The food was delicious and we were surprised at the size of the servings. Leftovers were taken home for a snack. It is still in the opening stages so don't expect anything fancy. You have luau tables and chairs with nice Manuhealii table cloths. They also have live music too. I really wanted a diet pepsi, but they only had iced tea or water. Hope that they can soon invest in a soda machine, it would really be nice on a hot day. The A/C was not on at the time that we went so it was a bit warm. We will be back for more Hawaiian Food.
