We have had quite a bit of good luck with "hole-in-the-wall" dives in Hawaii and so we had had high hopes for Kim Chee 1. Well, we were disappointed. First, it's supposed to be a Korean restaurant, but at least 80% of the menu times were Japanese. But since we came for Korean, we ordered typical traditional Korean dishes. I had the Beef Bi-Bim Ba. Soooo disappointing. I am used to this dish being served in a piping hot iron or stone bowl, with the rice, veggies and beef still sizzling on the sides of the bowl. But no, this was just served in a regular bowl, with all the veggies, rice and beef dumped in separately. The beef itself was quite tasty, but none of the other ingredients was interesting at all. My wife had the Chop Chae. Also completely uninteresting. It's not that the food was "bad" per se. It was just sort of boring, basically incredibly average. Since there are so many other better hole-in-the-wall options in Kaneohe and Kailua, we won't be going back to Kim Chee 1.
