“Absolutely wonderful!”
Reviewed 6 February 2012

This was my first visit to Hawaii. We chose Paradise Bay for its location on the island and I am so happy we did! Our stay could not have been better. Our room was upgraded to a waterfront suite because they found out it was my birthday and first trip to Hawaii. Tiana Meyers, the assistant GM was an absolute gem. She and the entire staff were great. The room was fantastic, clean and spacious. They were renovating the pool so we were offered the paddle boat excursion to the sandbar and snorkeling as a comp. It was a great time. I could go on and on about what a wonderful place this is. I would HIGHLY recommend you book a stay with these folks as soon as possible. Thank you Paradise Bayand Tiana for making our trip one I will never forget. Can't wait to visit again!

This might just be Oahu's best kept lodging secret. Just north of Kailua, this place is as tranquil as it gets for Honolulu. It's in a small community that feels far, far away from bustling Waikiki, but it's really only a half-hour away. It's set right on a bay with outstanding views of the water, mountains and Chinaman's Hat.

The rooms are super clean and simple, and ours had a full refrigerator (no mini bar, hooray!), a sink, plenty of closets, two double beds and our own outdoor porch overlooking the bay. Pure bliss. There's free Wi-Fi throughout the place, free parking and a free continental breakfast with yogurt, amazing pineapple slices, incredible coffee, bagels, waffles and juice.

There's also an extremely cool boat excursion on Saturdays that takes guests out to snorkel at a sunken sand bar, for free. You can't beat it. The captains were hilarious and we had an amazing time. You can also take stand-up paddleboards and kayaks out onto the bay for free if you reserve them. Don't be scared to try the paddleboard -- if the water's calm it's super easy!

There is a pool and hot tub on-site, as well as laundry facilities at very reasonable rates. Housekeeping will even wash, dry and fold a whole load for you for $8. Most Waikiki hotels charge $3-$4 per piece of clothing.

The staff couldn't have possibly be any kinder, and we really felt welcome and at home here. It's a great place to stay to visit all of the amazing hikes and views on East Oahu and the North Shore, but you can easily drive into Honolulu if that's your thing. We will absolutely return!

Stayed here a week in January and it was better than expected. The location is perfect, set back in Kaneohe bay just minutes from anything you may need. The resort offers free paddle boards, kayaks which you conveniently launch out of a small cove on its property. They also offer a boat ride on Saturday mornings out to the reef for snorkeling, and to the famous Kaneohe sandbar. The staff is unmatched and everyone has been the friendliest staff at a resort my wife and I have ever encountered. We wished we had not even stayed more than a few nights in Waikiki. This side of the island is so much more beautiful, peaceful, and fun. None of the crowds out here. We will definately stay here again if we make it back out here.

Was not sure about Paradise Bay Resort after reading reviews but decided to go for it as several of the reviews were very positive. It was also not far from our son's apartment. Our stay there turned out to be very nice. First of all, the staff is very friendly and helpful. When Booking.com did not get our reservation in efficiently and there were no more rooms like we had reserved available, they upgraded us for the same price. The room was nice, newly renovated and clean. It had a wonderful lanai with great views out over the bay. It is not in an affluent neighborhood if that is what you want but we did not feel that the street it is on was unsafe. It is a working-class neighborhood.
Another nice thing, is that there are a variety of people staying there. Met folks from different places in US but also an Aussie, folks from Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, etc. Was quite interesting. Almost every morning at breakfast we saw a rainbow over the bay. Breakfast could be a little more interesting but was quite adequate. My only complaint about breakfast was that it was not managed closely enough by staff, and we had to ask for things to be replenished. When we did, they kept an eye on it, however. Not much of a complaint.
There are many other things to do, but we spent most of our time with our son. Next time we'll do more of things offered.

Room Tip: Ask for a view!

Aloha! Thanks for giving us a chance and coming to stay with us in Paradise! We are glad that our staff was able to help you with your room reservations. We are happy that you got to know the other guests staying with us. That's one great thing we love about Paradise Bay is that all our guests come together and get to know one another and we are all like family. We have taken your comments and used them to better our breakfast. We have hired more staff in the mornings to make sure everything is replenished and stocked all morning. Also, our complimentary breakfast is now from 6am to 10am everyday! We look forward to your return, hope to see you soon.

The positive:
- Very quiet, room on the water , beautifull setting on a bay
- Kayaks are a bliss
- Staff is SUPER helpful, congrats to Kyle in particular
-Very accomadating with needs of guests

The negative:
- Cannot swim in the bay as the water is very murky
- Tired room (obviously not all room have been renovated)
- Breakfast out of paper cup and plates looks so cheap, even if nice view!
- Kitchen is too simple to cook anything

Room Tip: ask for room that are renovated, ours the 42 was not and we felt it was not a good value for money.

Mahalo for staying with us during your visit to Oahu! We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and happy that our staff helped you with all of your needs. We are a bay front property with great complementary water activities such as kayaking and standup paddle boarding for our guest to enjoy beautiful Kaneohe Bay, as well as our Saturday Sandbar excursion. All of our rooms have been renovated but we are still continuing to modify and upgrade them. We wish you would have told us you needed a larger kitchen for cooking, most of our suites have kitchenettes and some do have larger full kitchens. We hope you got to have the ultimate Hawaiian experience and will come back to see us again!

It is difficult to say enough about the Paradise Bay Resort experience. My room was extraordinarily comfortable and the view absolutely breath-taking. The staff went above and beyond the call and were amazingly helpful, always pleasant, friendly and really made my stay magical. There is a wonderful spa and a lovely breakfast served each morning. I travel to Honolulu at least twice a year and have stayed in a number of different places. Do yourself an ENORMOUS favor, by-pass every other place and go straight to Paradise Bay.

Room Tip: Request a room with a view. But even if you don't the morning view from the lanai at breakfast...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Aloha! We are very excited to announce the completion of our room and property renovations. We will continue to enhance the property as other resorts do, however the bulk of work is complete. We appreciate all of the input we received both positive and negative and we have used it to get to the point we are today. We were recently awarded the 2014 TripAdvisor Award of Excellence. We are blessed to be part of what we all consider to be the most beautiful tropical setting in the Hawaiian Islands. Now the property, accommodations and warm staff complement our surroundings. We call ourselves True Hawaii and what does that mean? Our setting reveals the answer. We are located in a panorama of spectacular natural and tropical beauty, from amazing Hawaiian mountain ranges and lush tropical landscape, to beautiful Kaneohe Bay, Chinaman's Hat Island and out to the Pacific Ocean. We border an ancient Hawaiian fishpond surrounded by lush tropical mangroves. The Kahuona Fishpond is one of the last remaining working fishponds and is designated a historical site. We are the only resort property with private access to Kaneohe Bay. Kaneohe Bay hosts the most abundant and diverse sea life and reef system in the Hawaiian Islands and our guests can access it safely right from the resort. Our design fits with the environment and has a contemporary and authentic Hawaiian look and feel. We thank our guests who have stayed with us in the past and helped to support us. We appreciate your patience with the renovations and know you will be delighted on your next stay. The property, guest rooms, new amenities, services and warm staff are here to take care of you. We offer our guests the same entertainment, special Saturday sand bar excursion and we have added a few more; a Friday evening Firedance Show, additional live Hawaiian music and surprise cultural classes. We have added some new things such as; a fitness room, Wi-Fi, on call spa service, new pool and hot tub, new floating lounge areas, conference room, intimate wedding ceremonies and we are pet friendly. We have renovated and upgraded our guestrooms with; new furnishings, artwork, premium pillow top mattresses, luxurious bedding and linens as well as new flat screen TV's and IPod docks.Kayak use is still included and we also have Standup Paddle Boards and private boat charter available. We look forward to seeing you the next time you come to Paradise. Warm Aloha, David and Stephanie Ryan ... more   less
