We have been coming to this place for several years now and everytime it exceeded our expectations. The hotel grounds are immaculate , the staff are very helpful and the service is excellent. The resort has activities daily that suites everyone from children to adults to seniors. There were 6 of us adults and 2 children and the 2bedroom villa has a lot of room to accommodate us, we were not tripping on each other in the apartment.

Room Tip: Pick the hale kona building, better view.

We stayed at this hotel from December 1-8 and had an amazing time. The staff are so helpful and kind, the rooms are incredible, we had a 2 bedroom suite on the 6th floor of the newest tower. Ocean view!!, loved it, the pools are amazing, the beaches are great and you could find a chair at any time of the day. I have been to some resorts where you have to get up at 6 am in order to get a chair.
LOCATION: AMAZING, love this part of the island, can not stand Waikiki, so crowded. We rented a car and went there a few times, but this hotel is so close to everything you need.
The only down points are:
- Restaurants on the site are disappointing. We ate the long board and the food was not good at all, high price also! We tried two of the restaurants at the JW Marriott and again was very disappointed( saw a rat in the restaurant!!). Try Monkey pod. walking distance from the hotel, so good, also, they have a happy hours after 9:30 pm where all their appetizers and pizzas are half priced :). Also if you take your discount card, you can get a slice of cream pie with each entrée.
Another thing that was not satisfactory, was that on Friday night and Saturday, the hotel all of sudden became so full and crowded with locals who seemed to be family or friends of the hotel staff. I am not sure if this is an every week thing or that particular weekend. The parking was packed with local cars( you can tell a 1988 toyota is not a rental) that you could not find a spot to park. Also, the BBQ area was again packed with these new guests! One of these guests had an ankle bracelet device( the ones used by cops to monitor) which made me very uncomfortable.
The atmosphere of the hotel was completely changed, it was all of a sudden so crowded with people who acted as if they have come to a picnic with their food baskets and such.
I asked someone and they said it was like an incentive or a thing for the staff to bring their families or friends and occupy the empty rooms! We sat outside on Friday and watched them unload their cars and chat with the staff. A tourist does not chat with the staff as if they have known them their whole life. Also they were all gone on Sunday morning, I don;t thing anyone goes to Hawaii for vacation and stays only 2 days.
I hope I am wrong and I hope this was a one time thing, because I would love to come back every year but have to make sure this does not happen again.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view room in the newest tower!

This is a 5-star resort, in all categories: Property, Amenities, and Service. It is not a 'bargain' but the Marriott folks exceed all expectations ensuring you receive full value for the cost. This is part of the Marriott Vacation Club portfolio, but regular "Hotel Folks" are treated equally well, most of the people are MVC owners, but if you are not, you will be welcome.

The Concierge services are second to none - they will book anything and everything for you at well vetted locations and vendors. Use them, you will be glad you did !!

A VOLUNTARY offer to hear about MVC will be extended (of course) but NO high pressure nor need to attend ..... but it is something to considered especially if needing to wait for your PM flights.
Many on-site daily activities are offered, and throughout the day for all ages.

The Fia Fia Luau (on site) is well worth the Tuesday evening. Beaches are cleaned and groomed nightly, the pools are clean and tidy. Rooms are superb, with full-kitchen. Most of the MVC owners are cooking dinner at night. The property caters to this, the restaurants are avail, but can get expensive especially with a Walmart grocery just a couple miles away. (no room service offered).

All in all, this is a great destination, away from the chaos of the concrete jungle of Honolulu/Waikiki.
Book it now, Dano.

Room Tip: All are 'good', just go with you personal preferences.

We stayed at the Ko Olina Beach Club for 9 days right before the Christmas holiday (a perfect time to visit in advance of the crowds). The resort met all of our expectations: The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, the resort offered plenty of amenities, and the room was well appointed and clean. We stayed in a studio with a view. Since there were only two of us, the size was fine. Next time, I will opt for the 1 bedroom, which offers a much larger living space and kitchen. I noticed someone mentioned that the "Hotel is tired, furniture and bathrooms are a little dated." We did not find this to be the case at all! Did this person stay at the same resort? The only warning: parking is a rip-off, so beware. If you end up visiting this area of Oahu and are looking for a reasonable restaurant, visit Thai Kitchen in Waipahu. It's in a strip mall and has simple decor, but don't let that dissuade you. The food is fabulous!

Room Tip: Ask for a view on one of the higher floors. 1 or 2 bedroom suites offer much better balconies (wider...

We recently stayed at this resort. We had a spacious villa on the 9th floor overlooking the ocean. The room came with a full kitchen that was very convenient. The service was friendly and helpful. The only complaints I have is that our room was not ready until 5:00 p.m. We had a long flight to Honolulu and were very tired. Also, parking is very limited at this resort and we had to use the valet service to park our vehicle. The Fia Fia Luau at this resort takes place on Tuesdays and is well worth the price of admission.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor with an ocean view.

Hotel is tired, furniture and bathrooms are a little dated and kind of grungy. Views are gorgeous but no better than any other beachside hotel in Hawaii. And extra fees, stupid.... Just charge more for the room not $25 for daily recreation. We have stayed in a lot of hotels throughout Hawaii, this is a disappointment
