“quiet and relaxing!”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Since my sister and her husband are military, we were able to gain access to Bellows where the public can not. The sand feels wonderful, very very soft and cool. Its very quiet on this beach and the views are outstanding. The surf is great for boogie boarding but not for surfing, which made it perfect for my children to enjoy.

“Nice Beach”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

Spent the afternoon at Bellows with some friends. We did some swimming and boogie boarding. We cooked burgers and watched the sunset. Good shady spots to be out of the sun. Good parking. Good clean restrooms. Good time.

“Unspoiled Beauty!”

Off the beaten path. Beautiful views from the East side. Great place to boogie board or paddle board. Not a lot of coral or rock, beautiful sand and turquoise water!

“Love This Pristine Beach! Paradise Found!”
Reviewed 19 March 2014 via mobile

This out of the way hidden gem lies right in the middle of the windward coast of the island of Oahu and is primarily a military facility for their personnel, retirees, and DOD civilians. Camping grounds are well kept and groomed and secure. Military patrols frequent the grounds to ensure safety for all visitors here. Facilities are dated but very good condition. Beaches are beautiful, second in my opinion to only nearby Lanikai Beach in Kailua, and another excellent spot for toddlers and younger children. There were no lifeguards when we visited, but parents should always monitor their own children near water. Definitely somewhere we would revisit again and again. Military personnel can reserve bungalows on the beach for a memorable camp out with the family! Best deal in town!

“Don't get the bus!”
Reviewed 18 March 2014 via mobile

We followed the advice of one reviewer and caught the bus from Waikiki to Bellows beach. The bus driver was not sure where to drop us off and asked the advice of the other passengers, who were all locals. The journey took two hours and we went 'around the houses' to get there! We were dropped off in what seemed like the middle of nowhere and began walking towards the beach, and walking, and walking...! Thankfully two very kind young Americans took pity on us and gave us a lift for most of the way. The beach itself is beautiful. Lovely sand and not many people there. After a few hours we began the trek in the heat back to the main road to catch the bus back. It was an adventure but best hire a car next time!
