“Dining room review!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2013

Didn't stay here but had a lovely dinner here in a truly quaint dining room. Soft music in the background. Very good meal at a very fair price. Service was great although our young waiter seem not totally comfortable with English. Would recommend.

I'm surprised to see negative reviews here, since we had a pretty decent experience overall. Yes, there was no Internet - but for a one night stay, that isn't a catastrophe. The restaurant was elegant and again, for the island, reasonably priced with decent food. My prime rib special ($25) wasn't outstanding - a bit undercooked, and a smaller portion than expected - but my companion got the Fisherman's Platter, which was a good portion and well prepared. My room had both a harbor and mountain view - two double beds, very large. Key problems with the room: smelled a bit musty/moldy at first, but this dissipated once A/C was on awhile. Bathroom fan is noisy, and you can't put the lights on in the bathroom without the fan. Main problem was the awful lighting - one lamp didn't work, one over a round table had a cracked shade and missing bulbs, and the bad lighting made the room feel dark and depressing, especially at night. The pluses here are the caring staff - nice people who went out of their way to make us feel welcome, including getting us a cab back to the airport and helping us with a variety of small headaches on our arrival. Another is the central location within town, so you could walk (if you wished) to a McDonald's, or to the local market (which operates late), Internet cafe, etc. Overall, Sadie Thompson Inn was as good or better an experience that we expected coming in - we would consider staying again, and having dinner there again, if in the area.

Room Tip: No pool, no gym, no Internet, no WiFi. Good choice if you want a quiet stay with a small town withi...

We only had the chance to stay here at Sadie's for one night. The staff there was so nice. They were so welcoming. The hotel was in good shape. The room was clean and they pre-turned on our AC before we arrived so we arrived to a cool room. The gal at the front desk was very informative. We need info on transportation and costs. She knew everything offhand.

Food was very good but pricey...it would've been ok if the service was good but it wasn't. That is the least you could expect...if you're paying for an expensive meal you should at least get really good service...the barmaid they had is the manager and I got to say...for a manager...her attire was very unprofessional...short shorts...really??? and her jokes??? its more on the offensive side than it being a funny joke. Everything about the restaurant except for the food was very unprofessional.

The rooms appear clean and comfortable. It is also the cheapest hotel (of the three at the time). There is NO internet. What shades everything was the horrific experience we had at the very pricey ($42 for a steak) restaurant. It is impossible to believe this could actually happen all in one night. Nearly an hour to get the initial drinks and order placed. Several attempts at ordering wine-the Riesling was brought out and it was a red wine, they insisted it was a Riesling. The meals came out at very different times, the folks who ordered fish got it at 25 min, the steaks came out at 45-50 min (by then the fish was cold). So after being there 2 hours we finally got all the food on the table. But the steaks were all covered with some indescribably goo, called 'gravy'. So I guess gravy on a high dollar steak may be the norm in Samoa-but it wasn't mentioned on the menu. If you do take a chance on this place - and it is tempting- Be as specific as possible about drinks, wanting to eat at the same time as others in your party, what you want and don't want on the food and the temperature of the food.

Room Tip: Leave expectations behind

Stay over 4th of July week, Barbara welcoming host, a/c all new and cool, cool, service wonderful, restaurant little pricey so we ate at Sadie's by the Sea that was priced reasonbly and food was good, location wonderful in Pago, across from harbor, McDonald's across the street, located close to Samoan Marketplace that displayed Samoan crafts and food. Would have given 5 stars but after all Inn is close to being 100 years old. GREAT stay on the frontside facing the harbor.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in harbor side rooms
