This is not the place to go if you want to be pampered but if you want a clean conferrable room with restaurants and recreation close by this is your place. I would rather spend my money having fun then spending on a place to sleep. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to provide services. I felt relaxed, safe, and welcomed at Tamuning Plaza Hotel

I was on Guam for 8 days. I read reviews both bad and good on this place. I rented the bigger room with the little kitchen. For staying 7 days or more I got a deal of $65 per night, taxes included. This is a budget motel and it was nicer than I expected. If you have a rental car (which I did) this a great hotel, if not you will be doing a lot of walking. You want a car anyway to see the nicer parts of the island.

I spent Christmas/New Year's 2006/2007 at Tamuning Hotel. I found the hotel through Google, and contacted the hotel via emails, which were straightforward, friendly and helpful. I visited Trip Advisor for reviews, and read two totally differing viewpoints, so I wasn't sure what to make of the place. But with the good communication with the hotel via email, I thought the place couldn't be that bad; however, I made a reservation for only 2 days to be safe, and if I didn't like it, I would change hotels. I stayed at Tamuning Hotel for my entire 2 week trip in Guam. Let me clear up the two differing opinions; Tamuning Hotel is more of a motel than a hotel in the Hilton or Hyatt sense. It looks like a 3-story rectangle concrete hurricane shelter, and there's no elevator. There's a Blockbuster Video in the front of the building, and the beautiful beach is across the busy street.. If you can get over the plain look of the place, you'll love the 2nd floor rooms (3rd floor rooms are single rooms). My room was huge, almost shockingly huge for a hotel/motel, it was cleaned everyday by a nice housekeeper who spoke no English but smiled a lot, and the rate I paid for a 2 week stay in such a large room was an AWESOME!! value. My room came with two full-size beds, a lounge area with sofa set/coffee table and cable TV, a desk/study section, a kitchenette, and large bathroom with tub/shower. I couldn't be happier with the deal, with what I got in return for my hard-earned money. The staff was friendly, the other guests were equally as interesting and varied, and I was even able to rent a car directly from the hotel. So, if you are looking for Hilton/Hyatt hotel type of accomodations, then you will be sorely disappointed like our British reviewer, but if you are a budget traveler looking for the most value for the money, you'll be pleased like the Japanese reviewer, and like this well-tanned Californian.

We chose this hotel on the strength of a review in Tripadvisor and we were severly disappointed.
It sounded like a genuine budget proposition and the exchange of emails we had when making the booking was friendly and helpful. We needed a room from 0600hrs for 24 hours and many hotels wont do this without charging 2 full days. This Hotel helpfully offered us a room for a "day and a half" tarriff. The tarriff was low and that should have warned us.
At any level of tarriff this place is a dump.
The first indication anything was wrong was an extraordinary notice at the reception desk.
It said that "cancellations on arrival" should be made within 10 minutes of arrival or a day's tarriff would be charged.
The point of this soon became obvious.
The place is dirty.
There was litter and carpet stains on the stairs.
The carpet and most else in the room was filthy.
We complained and were offered a different room and it was worse.
After a long flight and not knowing our way around we were stuck but never again and hopefully our warning will save others.
Heavan knows who wrote the review which influenced us, and heaven only knows what their standards are in respect of cleanliness.

If you're looking for a place to stay while visiting Guam, this is probably your best bet for a no frills economy hotel. It is located just across the street from the beach and also the Aluupang Beach club for a whole day of jet skiing and beach activities! Staff at the hotel were really friendly and very helpful. Helped make arrangements for the jet-ski reservations. Enjoyed a lot of my time just talking with them.

The room I stayed in was comfortable and furnished with your standard hotel furniture. It did have a refrigerator which was really nice to keep my drinks and snacks cold. And the TV, I didn't realize a hotel could have so many channels...and it's all free! I think they had about 60 channels or so! Not that you should spend your whole day in the room cause Guam has a lot to offer. I actually rented one of their cars at the hotel for a couple days just to drive around on my own. But even if you don't rent a car, you can always take the longer and sometimes more interesting route of the shopping buses. It takes you around the major cities(?) in Guam and stops off at the larger hotels and shopping centers. You can actually catch them across the street at the Aluupang Hotel there.

Overall, I had a great time in Guam and I was happy to have found a place that wasn't over $100 a night! I know I will return...
