Hilton Guam Resort & Spa
Ranked #8 of 20 Hotels in Tumon
Reviewed 17 January 2009

The Hilton in Tumon has a perfect location. While all the other resorts are side by side, this one has a nice setting at the end of the bay and is isolated from the other hotels. However, the various shuttle buses make it easy to get to the malls and duty-free shopping, if you choose.

We had some trouble with our room - we had booked an ocean view and got a parking lot view - but they did fix it right away and gave us a very nice upper floor room.

The pools were very nice and not crowded and we spent a lot of time at the pool bar. Sometimes there was entertainment and the food was a pretty good selection of "bar grub". I recommend the veggie pizza - big enough for two and delicious!

One drawback is the beach. Where the other hotels have big, sandy beaches - being at the end of the bay, they don't have much of a beach. They do have a little stretch of sand, but the water is quite rocky there. However, it is a nice place for snorkling - as you can swim out to the reef and see plenty of tropical fish.

I always enjoy free internet and the Hilton offers this in their business center (with your own laptop). There is also a nice fitness center and some lovely shopping. We didn't use all the restaurants, but there were plenty of choices. The champagne Thanksgiving brunch is worth going back for - it was fabulous!

The staff was helpful and friendly. They were happy to answer questions about the hotel or about Guam in general.

I wanted to wait to write this review as I knew I would be staying at a Hilton in London in January and wanted to be sure I wasn’t been too harsh on this chain. Actually it turned out that even in such an impersonal city such as London the Hilton in Kensington did much better. The Hilton in Guam is simply uninspiring, run down with disinterested staff. If you’re a non-Asian tourist they simply assume that you’re in some way connected to the US military and for some reason (I don’t know why) the service deteriorates. I was actually in Guam on holiday. The room I was first put in was in pieces, with lots of maintenance needed, it was very tiered. There was a connecting door and I eventually asked for a new room as there was too much noise through the door and the maintenance staff never showed up. They could only offer me a twin in exchange for the double I originally booked. I noticed straight away that the room was in much better condition, with more trimmings and bigger, it was also clear it was intended for Japanese tourists as the literature was now all in Japanese – could there be a connection? Room aside the rest of the hotel was so so. The pool area becomes shady before all the other hotels on the bay because of its position and there was no proper beach so consider one of the other hotels on the bay if you want sand and lots of sun. The restaurant staff are pretty rough around the edges too, rather ungraciously handing your bill when you’re still eating your starter. If you book a garden view room ask for a high floor otherwise you will be directly over the air conditioning vents. They also gouge money; you have to pay for the gym, the airport transfer (5 minutes up the road) and no late check out rates. I will look at other hotels if I return to Guam.

I really liked the Hilton. If you want a quiet, peaceful but still large hotel on Guam this is the one. The hotel rooms are a lot better than most hotels on Guam. The beds are good so I don't know why people are complaining. Sunday Brunch is excellent, pool and mini-waterpark is fantastic! They also have a nice bar with nightly dancing. A mini river with fish flows throughout the gardens. There's also a parrot! Really nice hotel, and it has alot of class! Would stay there again!

I've stayed here twice, both times I have paid the basic rate and received a room that was below expectations for a Hilton. Beds are not comfortable. The second time my wife had seafood marinara at the buffet and was so ill that we nearly had to delay our flight the next day.

I'm a HH Diamond member, so I'll be kind. The hotel is extremely sub-par, especially for International Hilton standards. It is comparable to some of the older Hilton properties in the US.

Was put in the premier tower as well. Dead cockroach on the floor when I checked in. Over-looking the parking lot. The hotel relies on airline crews and military personnel in transit for a large source of revenue. It shows, the poor service is b/c they have contracts with both. Did some business and traveled to all hotels on the bay. Newly-renovated Sheraton is great, Hyatt is very nice and Westin as well. Just take a look at how cheap the Hilton is compared to these properties. There is a reason. It is old and the service is terrible. If you are a loyal HH member, like me, and want the points stay here but be prepared for a VERY mediocre stay. If you are spending your own money and have no allegiance to Hilton, stay at the properties I mentioned above. Sorry Hilton, it was bad.

-Hilton location is nice.
-Go to Proa restaurant. About 5 minute walk off property. Great local food and decent little wine list.

I am a frequent visitor (since the 90s) and have been booking global events at this hotel since 2005. I am headed back to lead multiple events in October.

I have stayed in other nice hotels on Tumon Bay, but chose land at the Hilton when flying in from the States or Europe.

Yes, the beds are firm (which I like) and it is the "hot spot" for those from Asia wanting a USA wedding. So the lobby is often congested with happy family members enjoying a wedding as well as a family reunion.

Food: I have never ordered food in the Hilton and been disappointed. I have eaten in every restaurant and had room service more than once. In fact I am amazed that the Hilton (as well as others on Guam) are able to bring food in from the States 9,000 miles away or from Asia, but delayed through customs and yet deliver high quality to customers.

Hotel: I highly recommend the hotel for family or business engagements. It is in the "perfect" location on Tumon Bay as the view of Two Lovers Point is incredible. It is not in the middle of the noise of the tourist section but within walking distance. The hotel staff is great and the banquet and catering (B&C) staff ranks in my Top 10 in the world list. The hotel staff as well as B&C staff become your partners when delivering an event on Guam!

Executive Floor: The Executive Floor is what sets this Hilton apart in the world. Not only on Guam, but Hawaii and all of the other hotels that I have visited.
