I had no big problems with this hotel. The hotel met my basic needs. It is closer to the edge of the tourist area but still within it. The DFS is next door and access to the beach is just down the street towards Nana's.

I was shopping everyday at the JP store on the main floor and the mini store too. The front desk staff was pretty good and helpful.

The rooms were large enough and I was lucky to get a good view and could see the sunset between two large hotels. Only problem was the beds were a bit too stiff for me.

The cleaning service was spotty. Sometimes fast, sometimes very late but the room was always cleaned well.

I'd stay here again without any hesitation.

Room Tip: Top floor of the main building looking towards the bay, rather than the courtyard has a great view.

The Plaza was clean and the staff was polite and attentive. Our stay of a little over 2 weeks was pleasant and comfortable. The ocean views were incredible and the Chamorro's were very kind and friendly!

Room Tip: The ocean views are incredible!

The best thing about this hotel is its location. Ideal for shoppers as well as beach lovers, this hotel is right smack in the midst of shops as well as the beach. There's a department store connected to the hotel as well as the DFS which is just beside it. Across the street, (5minute or less walk) is the beach and also another shopping haven- The Plaza.. There's McDonalds within the hotel premises which is open 24hours. Within striking distance are other restaurants- capricciosa, fridays, outback. There are other good eating finds such as the quaint Japanese restaurant named Fuji ichiban which serves the best azumi and karaage for a very small price. Our hotel room is relatively clean and simple. Just the barest of necessities were provided - liquid soap and shampoo, toothbrushes, hair dryer but there was no hot water nor complimentary bottled water. There's an ice machine though outside our room and an ice bucket for each room. The sheets and the towels are not of high quality, and the bed is terrible. Of all the hotels I have been to, the beds in this hotel have the firmest, hardest mattresses which we found really uncomfortable resulting in neck and back aches. And for a while I thought those other reviewers we're exaggerating, but first hand experience made me realize that what they were saying is really true. The staff were all cordial - mostly Filipinos but the majority of checked in customers were Japanese. The hotel boasts of a waterpark but it closes much too early - 4pm. Likewise, the hotel pool closes at 7pm. In Guam, the sun sets at around 7pm, so for someone like me who doesn't care much about the sun and would prefer to go night swimming, this schedule is clearly not to my liking. For guests who want tour assistance, there are tour offices on the ground floor, as well as car rental and taxi service desks. There is an Internet room open 24 hours but it would have been better if the hotel provided free wifi in all of its rooms so that guests wouldn't have to go down to the Internet room. What we did sometimes was to go down to McDonalds because it has free wifi. Overall, we made the most of our 8 days stay in Guam Plaza Hotel. We might book there again in the future.

Why spend money at this run down hotel when you can stay down in Tumon? This hotel looked like it used to be really nice but lack of maintenance and cleaning has run down this hotel. All of the ice machines are broken, holes in the ceiling tiles, nasty carpet throughout the hotel. NO MAID SERVICE!!! The security guard / staff was picking up on the girls at the pool. You can't swim in the bay for fear of getting rain over by all of the Japanese tourists on jetski's. The restaurant got our orders wrong on multiple occasions. There are numerous patched holes in the walls that aren't painted over. The elevator buttons don't work and it really sketchy. I know it's Guam but they have a local dog that hangs out in the parking lot and has total mange. The only thing this place has going for it is the view which you have to pay extra for. NOT WORTH IT!!! Mismatched towels that feel like you're wiping yourself off with sand paper. The king size bed that we paid for was just two individual twins pushed together with a thin pad across it!!! WTF? Old tube TV. Stayed there for two night on 2/20/13 & 2/21/13 . You get a sense that this place was nice but the previous owner sold it and a new owner took over and cut costs and repairs, just pocketed all the money and is letting the place fall apart trying to squeeze ever last cent out of it until the place goes up in flames.

I had no problem with their staff and security. Should mention that I am not even remotely of Asian decent nor look it. In fact the opposite. The hotel staff and security were very friendly and courteous at all times when I was not in the company of Asians. Early morning and late at night.
The room was clean and definitely recently renovated. Large and spacious. Though the TV left a lot to be desired - the old giant cathode ray types.
The only thing that was a bother is that the floors felt dirty when walking bare foot, though the feet were not dirty. Something to do with the style of flooring that they had in the room.
Our travel agent contact while in Guam was managed by R&C who ensured that we were taken care of. Lucy was great at assisting us from check-in to check-out. So everything went very smoothly.

The real problem is that this hotel does not have rooms with King or Queen beds, and their website is terrible.
As for their lunch buffet, I would seriously consider it even at its $15/person price, and that goes for the breakfast too, same price.
Should note that at the time that we were there, the pool was under construction.

The Security Guards at the hotel kept stopping me and asking if I was a hotel guest , not just once but 3 times and I told them yes. It even got to the point late at night they knocked on my mother in laws room and told ask me if that was my room. I told them no but my room was next door. I was really surprise by this and ask them why are they doing this. they said I don't look Japanese but my in law is. My wife had to show them our wedding rings "for proof?"
