“Post Family Reunion Mini-Trip”

3 night stay. Very pleased. Good, quiet, roomy old Victorian room;air conditioning;well appointed bathroom with Jacuzzi.Great breakfast, cookies and wine late afternoon.Very easy short walk to all main activities. Cold bottled water all the time. Can store leftovers in special refridge. Very friendly owner and staff.Reasonable rates. House key if you stay out really late. Would recommend for a low key comfortable stay. The third night we stayed in the rear downstairs cottage with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen which we did not need, but would be good for a larger group or family.

Thank you for staying with us. So glad you enjoyed our Jacuzzi tub. When we told the architect we wanted to upgrade the rooms, he said it would be a challenge in this historic home. For our guests, it was worth it. Thanks for noticing our breakfast buffet, the staff gets up early to have it ready for you, with fresh Maine foods.

We stayed at Mira Monte Inn during a weekend of hiking in Acadia National park. It turned out to be a good choice. The house is beautiful, old victorian style, with everything well kept and a great garden to have breakfast of afternoon refreshments in. The owner and staff were very friendly and helped us to make the most out of our weekend with hiking trail ideas and restaurant reservations.

So glad you enjoyed staying at Mira Monte while hiking Acadia. Many times our guests have so many trails to pick from, they need to stay longer! I've compiled a list of "30 things to do in Bar Harbor" to help narrow it down. Then after a day on the trails we love sharing our favorite places to eat with our guests. Looking forward to helping you complete the list next season.

Think Mira Monte is stuck in a time warp.
Chinzy rooms, chinzy decor
terrible value for money
breakfast horrible
don't stay here, unless you're a granny , even then I wouldn't recommend it
there are much better b&b's available in Bar Harbor
stayed in Moseley Cottage a couple of years ago and would really recommend it , only problem is it's very popular & this time there were no rooms available when we were in Bar Harbor
Hopefully we'll have better luck with accomo
modation next time !!!

I advertise with pictures of my 1864 Victorian building and rooms.' All of the rooms are decorated in the a style popular in mid Victotiran times; Some have Victorian summer cottage style (white painted with white wicker furniture); some Golden Oak, some French Provincial, and some are standard Victorian mahogany or walnut. There is NO Chintz in the place. Each room is unique and many folks enjoy trying a stay in a different room each named after a hotel which existed in Bar Harbor in the 1800's. The wall paper in those rooms that have it, is authenic reprodution paper. While the decor gives you an experience from the past, the amenities are all modern.(They are what the Victorians would have chosen if they could): a flat screen TV with DVD player, private baths- with tub/shower or modern whirlpool tub/shower, air conditioners, hair dryers, individual heat control, phone with intercom and voice mail all in each room. Almost all of the rooms have a private balcony looking out on our Victorian gardens. I have long offered guests a dining choice each morning -An extensive breakfast buffet includes hot or cold home produced cereal, waffles made to order, steamed eggs, bowl of nuts, orange, cranberry juice, milk, cream, home-made anadama bread, fresh fruit bowl, yogurt, cottage cheese, egg stratas with and without meat, real Maine maple syrup, jam, honey, Nutella, bagels, and English muffins to toast, teas, organic shade-grown Mexican coffee. Guests can choose to eat, family style in the dining room or take a tray to one of several outdoor teraces in the gardens, or to the screened breakfast porch or they can take their food to their own balcony. CHOICES -is our motto and mantra. We offer free bottled water, free snacks, fresh made cookies each day and a daily afternoon social hour with free choices of wine or juice and cheese, crackers, etc from 5-7 PM.. We loan you movies, and audio tours of the Park; We sell trail maps at cost and do concerge services for anyone who asks us. There is off-street parking for each guest. We are 5-7 minutes walk to many restaurants and shops in the Village, and to the waterfront in two directions. I was the 2nd B&B in Bar Harbor and converted the Victorian summer estate into an Inn 33 years ago. I have always been listening to what guests want - and if they ASK me will make every attempt to make their stay pleasant and worthwhile.. Marian Burns

This was our second stay at the Mira Monte Inn.....and whenever we head for Bar Harbor we'll plan to stay there again!

The grounds are lovely, filled with shady places to sit and read and with beautiful wildflower gardens.

The rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable; several (including ours) have balconies or porches. The a/c was really important this trip as it was in the 90s - and it was great to come back to a cool room.

Breakfast is buffet with many choices - breads/muffins, quiches, fruit, yogurt, granola, eggs - with daily variations. The afternoon wine & cheese time is a great way to meet other guests.

Marian, the innkeeper, is a delight. She has to be the matriarch of Bar Harbor; she knows where to go, where to eat, what to do....and has wonderful personal stories of the history of the town.

We love this inn and Bar Harbor and we'd visit more often if it was a bit closer to home.

Mira Monte was above and beyond our expectations. The staff is friendly, courteous and made us feel welcome. When I mentioned that we were on our honeymoon, fresh flowers from their beautiful gardens arrived at our door. The breakfasts were delicious! We highly recommend this inn.

The Mira Monte Inn is a few blocks from the center of town, so it is possible to avoid the high congestion tourist places if you want to. Breakfast is buffet and has lots of choices. Afternoon wine and cheese was an added bonus and a great way to relax after sightseeing all day.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Mira Monte Inn for a week in June. We chose Bar Harbor because it offered a lot to do and was next to the Acadia National Park. We stayed in the Malvern suite complete with balcony and Jacuzzi tub. The room was extremely large by B&B standards. Service was impecable. We walked to the center of town, about 3 blocks, every day for lunch or dinner or drinks. Shopping is great and spotlights the local artists. Marian, the owner and innkeeper hosts a wine and cheese event in the parlor every day from 5-7. It is here that guests report on their day activities and relish in the wonderful stories and suggestions of what to see by Marian and her assistants. She suggests the best restaurants, best things to do on rainy days and her love for her hometown is remarkable. By following her suggestions, we had one of the most magical, relaxing, and wonderful vacations we have ever had. These two New Orleanians will surely return.
