“Great motel!”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

I stayed at the Bar Harbor Villager Motel back in early June for 4 days. My room was cleaned every day by 2 pleasant and respectful young ladies. All of the staff working at the motel were wonderful. They are to be commended! Larry the maintenance man was very friendly and very efficient. He was out there every day taking care of the grounds and pool. You are very lucky to have such dedicated and pleasant staff. It is on Main St and centrally located so that you never have to get in your car while visiting. Wonderful stay!

For our trip it was a great price, perfect location and everything was very well done. The (free) breakfast was a standard continental breakfast, parking was great and all the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a good size for my family of 4.

Thanks to the central location and the buses we could have done just about everything we wanted to to in Bar Harbor and Acadia without having to take the car out of the parking lot at all.

The clean, well maintained pool was a nice bonus.

All in all a good place to stay at a reasonable rate.

The best part of this motel is the location. Right in the midst of all the shops and restaurants. Close to the village green and a short walk to the waterfront. The room was very big, super clean with a nice pool. They have a breakfast room with the usual items. Highly recommended.

If you're looking for a home base from which to explore Bar Harbor/Acadia, you probably can't go wrong here. Smack on the outskirts of a very small town, it was easy to walk anywhere starting from here. Added bonus: You could fall out of bed and land at the BEST breakfast place in town (Cafe This Way) - we ate there every day before starting our hikes. It wasn't perfect - the bathroom sink space wasn't big enough to lay out ONE person's stuff, let alone two - but when I look for a motel, my top priorities are clean and odorless (no smoke, mildew, etc) and for that, this place was PERFECT.

Although we didn't use it, the pool looked great. They have a security guy who wanders around at 11, so the place is always quiet. At $200 a night in high season, can you do much better?

Green Features: Standard - offered to not replace towels, which we took advantage of. Other than that, I know of know other practices by which the hotel abides.

Nice small motel in downtown Bar Harbor. Reasonable price. Very clean. A great deal in Bar Harbor---for a much lower price than the newer, fancier hotels or the waterfront hotels. You can park and walk to everything. No worries about parking on the crowded streets during the summer. A short walk to everything. The staff was nice too.

We stay here every year when we're in town for more than one night to save money. It's clean and simple. It's a motel not a hotel. The location is fantastic. One block from the town common, four miles from Schooner Head. Free basic breakfast, adequate parking. We always ask for Room 102 on the ground floor near the street. Easy in and easy out and no noticeable street noise which is hard to explain since our room is about 10 yards from Main St. We eat dinner early and walk to any restaurant in town and go back out about 8:30.The atmosphere in town is nice just after dark. Rooms are kind of basic and people always say they need updating but we're looking for a clean, comfy place to sleep and maybe watch the ballgame in the evening. We're out early in the morning and gone all day. If you want fancy you won't be happy but you can literally pay twice the price downtown. This is fine for us.

Room Tip: First floor to load and unload stuff from the car.

It was my first time staying at the BHV - and my mother and I had a very enjoyable stay. The staff is really nice (albeit a little shy) and you can pretty much walk anywhere in town from here.
We booked their two-night Villager Escape package for $499 and consider it to be a very good deal: it includes two-nights accommodation, a great dinner at the Reading Room Restaurant (the BHV package includes any soup or salad from their menu, any entree and any dessert as well as coffee or tea, tax and gratuities - you only pay for the appetizer if you want one and for alcoholic beverages) and a cruise on the Margaret Todd (choose from a 10 AM, 2 PM or 6:30 PM departure).
I liked the fact that their free wireless connection operates from a secure network and that they offer (tiny) pool towels for their wonderful outdoor pool. I didn't like the cramped bathroom with no shelf space, the limited number of hangers on the clothes rack and the lack of power outlets in the room. What really bothered me, though, is the fact that the (newer) tile floor in the bathroom area was extremely slippery. I have no idea why the floor was so slippery - it wasn't wet at all, just naturally slippery, as if over polished. I did point it out to the reception staff upon check in, and someone did come to spay the floor, but it didn't help. My mother is in her 80's and she's the one who alerted me to the fact that the floor was hazardous. They should fix this, otherwise may end up with a very costly lawsuit on their hands. This is the last thing the wonderful staff of this cute little motel deserves. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Get a room on the second floor if you're a light sleeper.
