Description: Fathom is a casually refined restaurant located on the corner of Cottage, Bridge & Summer Streets in Bar Harbor, Maine. We use only the highest quality produce, fish and meats - many sourced locally or from specialty purveyors. Our bar is stocked with fine wine, spirits, Maine made beer, and hand crafted cocktails. Chef Brandon Sanders' authentic cuisine is infused with tradition yet energized by craft and creativity. Please join us for a memorable dining experience away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

My mussel dinner cooked with bacon and white wine were the best ever! Yes, you must try Fathom in Bar Harbor. We were seated outside in a very pleasant atmosphere with great service.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal. We were a large (and loud) party of 8 and the staff was wonderful, service excellent. The special cocktails were delicious. Every entree was beautifully presented. The butter poached halibut was divine. Located off cottage road it's worth seeking this restaurant out. You won't be disappointed.

Fathom is a two- or three- year-old reinterpretation of Maggie's, which was a mainstay of fine dining on Mount Desert. The folks who took over from Maggie have done her previous efforts proud. The restaurant is located just off the main street leading into downtown, and while it overlooks a parking lot (don't get too excited about an outdoor table) once you are happily placed at an interior table the view becomes the food. Service the night we were there was seamless, from drink to dinner to dessert. We can recommend, without hesitation, the crab cakes, the grilled halibut, and (the evening's special) an Asian-infused bouillabaisse. For the moment anyway, Fathom is the leader in when you need a break from the rest of the local dining scene.

I really enjoyed this place. Down Cottage Street off the main drag which I consider a plus, sat outside on a nice night. Food was great. Liked the tuna appetizer and a nice vegetarian themed salad. Chateaubriand was great and it was reported that so was the halibut. No reservation and no wait tho we go early. Parking's a little easier out Cottage but we walked from the motel. We don't drink but nearby patrons extolled the virtues of their flavored martinis. Service was fine. A smidge pricey but I'd gladly pay it. Will definitely go back.

The staff are friendly - but that doesn't make it worth a visit here. The food is not fine dinning and is overpriced. The chef is trying to fit too many flavours into a plate and when we went, seems to also have a enthusiasm for pea shoots - which appeared on everyone's appetiser as well as entree. If you are just looking for a glass of wine to go with your meal, there is not a lot of choice and the white wine options are of really poor quality. The whole meal was a real disappointment
