Great stay in Bar Harbor. recommend staying at least 3 nights to explore Acacia National Park. Easy to rent bikes and bike in or take the shuttle and hike in. Did not need our car. Stayed in 3 rd floor rooms 5 and 6. A little hot at night.

I have Celiacs Disease so when choosing a B and B, my first question is always can I eat the breakfast you're serving? The couple who runs this B and B is the BEST. They went so far above and beyond (to the point of serving gluten free snacks - such as fresh baked macaroons). I really loved this cozy little place. It feels like a big family. The house itself is very clean. HIGHLY recommended.

Right in the middle of lovely Bar Harbor, the Acacia House Inn was a real treat. We turned up in Bar Harbor without a booking and did a bit of a ring round some local B and Bs. The Acacia was the only one flexible enough to offer an extra bed in the room for our child. And what luck that was. Comfortable bed and amazing bathroom with jacuzzi bath, really friendly hosts, a nice lounge area for guests and the most amazing, creative and delicious breakfasts every day. Anna recommended a few things for us to do with our 4 year old. We took her up on the Diver Ed boat trip and this was one of the highlights of our 3 week trip.

Thanks for a lovely stay. Highly recommended.

I'm glad I found this lovely b&b so close to the main drag in Bar Harbor. It's clean and chic inside, the rooms are nicely decorated. There is a nice sitting room downstairs for lounging. The mattress and pillows were amazing, and the windows nicely shaded, so I slept really well here! Breakfast was incredible... so many options to choose from. The afternoon we checked in, Ralph and Anna were baking something in the kitchen and the house smelled divine! They also set out cookies and juice in the afternoons. Oh, and it was nice to have working WiFi.

We stayed in room 3 on the second floor. It was nice to have a large balcony, however, it was off the bathroom. We didn't use it due to the weather. Next time, I would rather stay on the third floor or in the coach house. The floors are pretty creaky, and when our upstairs neighbors went to the bathroom or just moved around, we could hear it very well. Some water seeped in along the wall when the 3rd floor people took a shower (sorry Ralph and Anna, I forgot to mention this).

I'll definitely stay here next time I'm in the area!

Oh my, we're on it! Thank you for bringing the leak to our attention - the plumber has the upstairs wall ripped apart, the leak has been found and is being fixed as we speak, and Ralph has sound proofing tiles ready to install. Ralph has tried every carpenter's trick for the floors, but the 130 year old stairs are, as another reviewer so gently put it, "charmingly aged" and we plan to completely rebuild them after this season. Two years ago we bought a new high efficiency boiler and furnace, this winter we completely renovated 7, 8, and 9, and this upcoming winter's projects will include both staircases, the South side of the roof, and the nineteen layers of wallpaper lurking in Room 3! We enjoyed having you stay with us, and look forward to showing you our updates when you return.
Warm regards,
Anna

We stayed here for 2 nights in room 9. Ralph and Anna were some of the nicest innkeepers we've ever met, they clearly love their job and talking with guests. Breakfast was incredible, and more than expected. It was great to be within walking distance of everything yet the location itself was quiet. There were lots of small touches that were appreciated, like filtered water and a guest refrigerator, and a kettle to make hot water at any time. Our room had recently been repainted and had a new bed spread and had bamboo flooring.

Room Tip: Rooms 7,8, and 9 are in the back, above an unused garage. More quiet and privacy.

Acacia House Inn is situated on a quiet street within easy walking distance to all parts of downtown Bar Harbor. Just a 5 minute walk to the Bar Bridge where you can walk across to the island at low tide. 5 to 10 minute walk to all shops and restaurants. The Inn itself is a small, clean, well kept Inn run by Ralph and Anna. My husband and I spent 5 nights there last August while we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the street. We loved sitting on the balcony in the evening with a bottle of wine. The room was very clean and the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom was huge !! The breakfasts were amazing !! Delicious pastries cooked fresh each morning and the breakfasts were perfect. There were selections for all desires. Cooked by Ralph and Anna themselves. Both Ralph and Anna were very helpful. They answered all of our questions and offered wonderful advice. We would definitely go back to Acacia House.

I had breakfast here this morning with my son and his girlfriend, and I can't stop thinking about it tonight. We were treated so kindly, even without a reservation (which we might have thought of, even in the winter because of the reputation for great food). You'll be tempted to get one of every single thing on the menu (which changes), and I can't imagine anything at all being less than par excellence in this place. The Acacia House surpassed compliments I'd already heard, so thank you for giving us a great start today and staying open for winter people from near and far!

Thank you so much for this kind review! We are excited to pass along the news that we have completely renovated Rooms 7, 8, and 9 in our Cottage House. New floors, new paint, and a fresh new look await our guests in 2014. Being slight techno-phobes, we are not great at posting updates, but we will soon have pictures of the new rooms on our website.

Our breakfast menus will continue to include local, organic eggs, veggies and meats, as well as Ralph's handmade breads, bagels, and pastries every day. Summer guests or winter people with summer visitors, we look forward to hosting you, with our warm regards. Anna and Ralph
