“gorgeous view”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

Off of almost all of the rooms is a fabulous view of Bar Harbor. If you are on the 4th floor, you can see the sand bar open up that links Desert Island and Bar Island at low tide. The rooms are spacious, the included breakfast quite adequate, the staff wonderful. The hotel is served by the island shuttle. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 4th floor have the best view.

Hello,
Thank you for the complimentary review, especially the staff accolades. I will pass this on to our manager as well. As you probably know it is a long season that winds down in October and our staff seems to always be lovely with our guests and each other. Hope you return to our island in the future. We have been doing more improvements to our exterior hallways, parking and entrance since we closed in October. Thanks again, Joanne

We stayed two nights at Atlantic Eyrie on the 3rd floor. We had not planned on spending as much as we did for our Bar Harbor visit, but the views (and looks at some lesser properties) sold my wife and our traveling companions. Our room was a little dated but still very nice, with a balcony. As one reviewer mentioned, the free shuttle bus (doesn't belong to the hotel, but stops there) is a nice perk for those not wanting to go searching for parking in the main part of Bar Harbor. The hotel is convenient to Acadia National Park, but it is a little inconvenient to find. You have to know where you're looking. We ended up driving up the fire lane to get to the hotel because we didn't know which road led to it. But, on the positive side, you didn't have to listen to traffic all night. The room was clean and had the usual amenities. The free breakfast was continental but had enough cereal, yogurt and other stuff to fill me up. The breakfast room staff were very nice. Wi-Fi in the room worked fine. At dusk, the deer like to come out in the open area below the pool. One odd thing about the coin operated washer and drier (one of each) is that they are outside under an overhang on the basement level. If it's cold outside, you're going to be cold doing laundry. Our base price was $144.90/night.

Hello, Thank you for leaving a positive review, it is greatly appreciated. Mentioning our quieter location and even including a "plug" for the deer that wander around was great. We struggled with locations for the washer and dryer as in the summer it becomes uncomfortable in a laundry room. I will definitely mention your concerns with being cold while doing laundry. Perhaps we can put a little partition or come up with something different. Thank you for mentioning this. Hope you have a great winter. Sincerely, Joanne

The hotel is on a high bluff and all the rooms overlooking Bar Harbor, the first morning we looked out and there were two large cruise ships anchored in the bay. The rooms were large, clean, and fairly updated. Each room also had a nice balcony with chairs.

A free shuttle bus came every 30 minutes and would drop you near Main Street in BH. The parking is difficult in BH, and this is a really good perk if you are there in prime time. The shuttle took less than 10 minutes to get downtown, and a little longer to get back.

The free limited breakfast was fresh and took care of all or needs. We were "sea-food out" and asked for a recommendtion and they referred us to a great BBQ place.

Less than 10 minutes from the Acadia NP Visitors Center, and I surely would stay there again.

Hello,
Thank you for your descriptive review. I think one of my favorite things about the hotel is our location on the bluff that you mentioned. We are definitely in a unique location with the woods and mountains at our back and the ocean out the front. Thank you for the compliment on the breakfast, much appreciated. I will forward your comments on to the staff as well. Sincerely, Joanne

The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is pet friendly and very clean.
The views are stupendous
The one downside is the rooms are getting a bit dated, however for the price is it good value for money.

I booked this hotel because of the Trip Advisor reviews. I was concerned because my wifes brother and his wife met us there and the choice was all on me. It could have not worked out any better. The rooms are large and very clean, and have a nice small balcony with a wonderful view where one can watch sunrise with a cup of coffee. There were the usual sundries in the bathroom and there was a separate sink outside of the bathroom. We found the breakfast to be very adequate for a hotel breakfast, always fresh and constantly resupplied. There was also coffee provided in the lobby all the time as well as the use of a computer if needed. The front desk staff were very friendly and very very helpful with eating tips and when to go where. The Island explorer bus stopped outside the front entrance and seemed to run frequently. We never had to us it as the hotel is minutes from the visitor center and entrance to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Im not sure if it was because we went mid September, but we experienced no parking issues in Bar Harbor especially if we went to town after 6PM. I definately would recommned this hotel to anyone visiting the area. One note, if you didnt book online and you have AAA, you must tell them upon check in or you will not get the discount

Hello,
What a great review, it sounds like your family was pleased with your choice as well. It is always difficult to choose accommodations but I've found that trip advisor is a great source for real ratings and suggestions. I will pass on the positive comments about the breakfast as well. This is a tired older 1986 hotel with a staff at the front that is much like the sales staff at time share sales high pressure! The view is great but you do not sleep in the view. The rooms are tired just like the whole hotel! The walls are so thin that you can here you fellow traveler next door cough at least I hope it was a cough. Unless you are heavily medicated you will not get a good nights sleep with doors slamming and people conducting a motocross overhead!

Located high on hill above the town of Bar Harbor, most rooms provide great ocean view from the attached balconies. It is a fairly new property built using mid-level materials (synthetic marble, etc.) in good condition with spacious, clean rooms. Staff are very helpful. The included continental breakfast offers cereals, bagels, English muffins, toast, hard boiled eggs, coffee and juice...but no scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, etc such as found in major chain hotels.
