This motel has changed our opinion with regard to motels. It was clean and quiet with spacious, recently remodeled rooms. The two bedroom units actually had two doors separating them with the bathroom in between, providing privacy, excellent for multi-generational families staying here.
All rooms have refrigerators, but no microwaves as they are very clear that cooking is not permitted in the rooms. The lobby has an extensive selection of menus to assist you in dining choices, plus there are a couple of restaurants within a two minute walk. Some units actually back up to the park, with access to hiking trails. The desk staff will provide a map for you. The playground is actually just a small play set, but works for smaller children. The pool is nice and was never crowded when we were there.
The Island Explorer shuttle stops at the motel and it's a short ride to town. This is an excellent alternative to driving since parking in Bar Harbor can be challenging. If you choose to walk, it's probably about a mile into town.
We would certainly stay here again if we return to Bar Harbor.
