I had a big birthday to celebrate and we chose to bring the kids (2 & 3yo) and celebrate here in Maine and Bayview could not have made our stay nicer. Like the other reviews have already stated, it's the people here that make all the difference. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay great. Jocelyn is a wealth of knowledge for activities, restaurants and places to see. Rafe, the shuttle driver and our personal chauffeur (lol...), was so friendly and accommodating. My kids loved him and kept asking for playdates with him! Seriously, the shuttle service is awesome. They are on call whenever you want to go into town and we never had to wait for him for more than a few minutes. Then, he picks you up from town when you want to go back to the hotel. Major bonus because parking in Bar Harbor in August is not plentiful. But it was just easier to be taken any place you want to go. Rafe even took us and the kids to a playground so the kids could run around a bit.
The hotel is very peaceful and quiet and the grounds are open and nice. They views are beautiful too. The rooms aren't the Ritz but I loved the soft sheets. We stayed two night in their hotel and two nights in one of the townhouses because they didn't have a townhome available during our entire stay. But for us with two kids, the townhomes were SO much nicer. We had separate rooms so that the kids could nap without us sitting with them in a dark room for two hours. Bedtime could be at 8pm and my husband and I could hang out in the living room the rest of the evening. We could do our laundry and the kitchen is great to have when you're sick of eating out and want to make something healthy. Lastly, they also provided a crib, a high chair and side rails for our kids so we didn't have to bring any of that stuff!

My wife and I spent a week at The Bayview and it was absolutely wonderful. The big thing that makes the Bayview so enjoyable are the staff who are so accommodating and genuinely nice. I must make special mention of Jocelyn who guided us to many great restaurants and day trips and Al who’s just a treat to talk to and makes a great Cosmo. Al, Mary is still talking about your Cosmo’s and I guess I’m going to have to learn how to make them now. Other great staff that made our stay special were Chris, Denis, Raife, and Leslee.

The rooms are large, well decorated and exceptionably clean. Each one has a large private deck with chairs and tables overlooking the inlet.

The on demand shuttle service to downtown is great and avoids the need to try and find parking in town.

While the Bayview only serves breakfast, it is absolutely fantastic. Everyday there are many choices of fresh baked goods, cereals, breads, fruits, as well as daily different warm breakfast items like eggs, sausages, quiche, eggs Benedict, etc. In the afternoon great fresh baked cookies appear at the front desk

The Bayview is not for those looking for night life and a bar scene around the pool (although it does have a pool), it is a great place to relax and unwind, with exceptional staff and accommodations.

Well done Bayview!!! we will certainly recommend you to anyone travelling to Bar Habor

Just returned from our trip to Bar Harbor. We did the 3 day Getaway at the Bayview and loved every minute of it. The room was large and very clean, ( thanks Debbie) The view of Frenchman's Bay couldnt have been any better. Upon arrival their "Jack of All Trades" Al came with champagne. Cant say enough good things about this trip and Bar Harbor. Hope to return soon. Be sure to chat with Al and learn all about the "must sees" that the area has to offer.

I traveled with my husband and his elderly parents and we had a delightful stay at the Bayview. The rooms were great for older folks (they were on the main floor so no stairs). There are no elevators for luggage, but they had a very strong bell boy. The rooms were immaculate and the tubs were good for older folks. the breakfast was fantastic. We really enjoyed the view and the hotel staff. We will definitely return.

I had remembered Acadia Nat'l park as one of the most beautiful vacations from my childhood, so I wanted to bring my husband there for our 30th anniversary. Tripadvisor members raved about it, and it lives up to its reputation. Lovely, large room with balcony (including tables and chairs), excellent housekeeping, delicious breadfasts with something for everyone. Fruit, coffee, tea available all day and night, plus excellent sweets in the afternoon.

We found the 1 mile distance to downtown Bar Harbor to be a good thing: the downtown area was just too congested for us to want to spend much time there. Lots more restaurants and areas to explore outside of the downtown. However, if you want to go downtown, the Bayview will take you and pick you up anytime.
